  1. Well, according to the payroll tool the team is already $4-5 MM over the target of $130 MM, so unless the team is willing to bump payroll to around $150 MM, who they have is who they have. Also, no one is taking Vazquez or Paddack's salary - put those with Dobnak in the dead money column.
  2. Why should Keaschall have to wait for an injury to occur if he outperforms any of Julien, Lee, Miranda and/or even Lewis in ST? If he's going to sit on the bench, no, start him at AA or AAA. But if he earns a spot, give it to him. And yes, I understand that many teams try to manipulate playing time to keep that extra year of service time, so even if he earns it, he may not be up until sometime around May 1.
  3. No to the "Golden At-Bat", as well as the "Manfred" man on 2B in extra's. And get rid of the deferred $$$ and big signing bonus's designed to cheat the Luxury Tax, MLB doesn't need any more All-Star teams other then the two playing the All-Star Game. Viewership and attendance will suffer outside of CHI, NY, LA and a few other cities if the product on the field can't compete with these cities/teams.
  4. I'll take a plate of cookies or a pan of brownies... I'll drink the kool-aid to wash them down!!
  5. +3 pitchers made the All-Star team, led by Freddie Garcia
  6. I think payroll not being added this past off-season despite the team being in a "contending window" speaks volumes as to when the Pohlad's decided/considered putting the team up for sale. As for Correa's future, I think it is in Minnesota, at least until after this upcoming season, due to the fact that none of Julien, Lee, Lewis, Miranda, et al have stepped forward and established themselves as being an every day IF option at this point.
  7. You mentioned Stanton's heads up baserunning, then Chisholm and Rizzo had baserunning blunders last night, which makes me think that proper baserunning may be a MLB-wide problem. Too much looking for 3 true outcomes, not enough work on fundamentals...
  8. But the Yankees look very Minnesota-esque on the basepaths that inning....
  9. Cleveland looked very Minnesota-esque that inning against Cole....
  10. Probably should follow his own advice...
  11. Rocco will be here all season next year, the only difference is that the FO will wait until AFTER the season to determine if they want to extend him...
  12. Probably Castro and Martin...the more things change, the more they stay the same.
  13. What's going on here? Wheeler faces the line-up for the 3rd time? Doesn't he know that's not allowed? Seriously though, AJ said that the Phillies starters have the MLB's best OPS 3rd time through the line-up. A little confidence from the manager must go a long way...

  15. Maybe the question should be posed as such: do you want AK hurting the team for 162 games (as a Twin) or 7 games (as an opponent, 13 if he signs within the division)? Maybe he's recovered enough to play a full season, probably not. However, his status directly affects the teams off-season plans at multiple positions. Miranda is the only returning 1B, but Julien (let's hope not) has been mentioned as an option there. In the OF, Wallner and Larnach have emerged as the corner favorites, with no real other internal options, though Kiersey is a possibility despite the team not giving him any opportunities this season. A decision needs to be made early in the off-season so the team can fill out the roster accordingly, no dragging it out until March.
  16. Well, the team does swing at a lot of breaking pitches off the plate.....
  17. Tigers and Royals advance. 3 of 4 teams in the Divisional Series are from the Central....still the weakest Division in MLB??
  18. Baseball Reference has him listed as Pre-arb, FanGraphs has him listed as Arb1. Not sure which is correct.
  19. "Talent is one thing. Being able to go from spring to October is another." - George "Sparky" Anderson
  20. He's been doing a pretty good (bad?) job of making sure he isn't left on base recently.... It's been so bad it is kind of comical, and he's still killing potential rallies...
  21. Hate it or not, tonight's error by Farmer was his 2nd of the season...
