    I've only disliked a handful of players - Herr, Slowey, Kepler, Young come to mind. Donaldson doesn't bug me. He seems to play hard and he's good.

    The line to apologize to me for suggesting Maeda wasn't the second best starter in the AL forms behind Brock.

    This seems overly optimistic. Not only do we have a bad staff, we have an old staff. Rogers and Robles are free agents at the end of the year and the Twins should see if they have any trade value this year. Duffey is what he is, not horrible, not great. Basically an average reliever. After that, ugh. And if we keep moving toward a starting staff that can't go more than 5 innings a game, it just gets worse. Frankly, my main concern with the Twins pitching philosophy has been the shorter starts and handing the game to a bad bullpen. Don't' know how that doesn't happen again next year.

    Anyone want to mention an unsexy-stock they are happy to own? Just throwing this out there but we bought John Deere in August 2015. In that time, it's grown 333%. Facebook grew 283% in the same period, Netflix was 349%. Deere has a pretty impressive moat and a solid dividend as well. It's not sexy at all but, man, it's been a nice stock for us.

    Eh, Duran is a solid prospect but he's not a Berrios level prospect, let alone a top of the rotation type. (Although, as you say, baseball may be moving away from that). If you don't think a nucleus of Buxton, Sano, Berrios, Kepler, Rosario, Garver, Polanco etc was a nice situation to build around, I don't know what to tell you. It seemed like a pretty good place to be. Certainly a lot better than our current situation. That nucleus was going to be pretty good, no matter who was running things, and they were. But I think a better FO might have been able to help the players more (although the Cruz signing was good). I also don't think this is there only one bad offseason. They've had several bad offseasons where they haven't significantly improved the team. There are good things that Levine has done - I liked the Donaldson signing, a lot, even though it hasn't been as good as we all hoped. The 2018 draft looks solid. But he seems to have misjudged the talent in the system several times. He was not able to keep the window of opportunity for the above named nucleus open.

    They inherited a team that was a season away from nearly making the playoffs. They had a nucleus of top 100 prospects to build around. They had the first pick in the draft and some supplemental picks. They had an owner who said he'd actually spend money. It's hard to find a better situation for a new FO to walk into. Not sure I'd be as optimistic about this pitching pipeline. The best prospect in the system was drafted by the previous FO. The current FO hasn't shown much ability to find top of the rotation starters. More worrisome, they might not think they have to b/c they might just think baseball will evolve into 4-5 pitchers per game snoozefests. Outside of Berrios, I'm not there is another pitcher in our entire system that will crack 150 innings this year.

    They were given a great situation and didn't really capitalize on it. Now they need the pipeline they built to keep the window of opportunity open and it doesn't look like that will work out. I'm ready to move on from Levine for sure. Not as sure about Falvey.

    I loved the 2016 draft at the time and now it's looking even better. Kiriloff, Rortvedt, Baddoo, Wells, Jax have already made the majors with Miranda and Balazovic still at AA. I don't know if any of them will have the upside of the top of the 2012 draft (Buxton, Berrios, Rogers) but they should provide some above average MLB players.

    Levine should go for sure. Not as sure about Falvey. I heard a lot of nice things about him but if he's the guy behind the 5 inning starter plan, I'd be happy to see him go. I hate watching this pitching style.

    Coming into this season, the Twins best hitting prospect (Kiriloff) and best pitching prospect (Balazovic) were guys picked by the prior regime. This FO has made a bunch of bad trades, failed to recognize the talent in the system, failed to build a pitching staff. They were given one of the best situations any new FO could hope to get and really didn't do anything to help. I'm really surprised how much rope some are willing to give Levine. And I'm really worried that Falvey is behind the five inning pitcher philosophy.

    I'm kind of done with this Twins team. I remember after the T-Wolves traded KG, I stopped following them and just rooted for KG, even in Boston. Feel the same way about Buxton. Hope he wins an MVP, ideally for us, but I'll root for him anywhere. This FO is a disaster.

    Mike's list is a good one. We have friends over at least once a month to have big board game days (with food and booze) so I'd just add a few more - Catan, Galaxy Trucker, Castles of Burgundy.

    I'm glad you got your gains. I've been avoiding the AMC/gamestop stuff but maybe I should have thrown a few dollars at it. I have a friend who is only buying AMC GME and cannabis stocks. I probably wouldn't have done that but he's ok with it. We actually bought a couple hundred shares of Apple stock yesterday.

    Yeah, background noise at best. I'll watch Buxton when he's back and I like to watch Berrios starts but I'm sick of the 5 inning starter games followed by a parade of AAAA arms.

    This team is cooked but it's also not an easy fix. I think the lineup will be pretty good over the next few years and the team has a few different ways to go but I'd see if there is any interest in Kepler, Cruz, Rogers and try to get pitching back, .

    I think Levine should go. He's made a lot of bad decisions over the years. I'm worried about the pitching philosophy of this team. It seems like we want starters to only go through the opposing lineup twice, then turn it over to the bullpen. Ignoring Berrios, the other four starters have pitched more than 6 innings only three times in 38 starts. They've thrown 100 or more pitches in a start only 5x. We are way to reliant on a really bad bullpen. And if our minor league arms are being treated the same way, this could become an institutional problem.

    If you are going to discount the best five games, you have to discount the worst five games. But my point was that I think the offense is going to be fine. Sano is better than this and will flip a switch and start hitting. Kiriloff is a legit middle of the order bat. We have enough weapons and depth to be a pretty potent unit. Pitching, bullpen in particular, is going to drag the team down all year.

    The FO should shoulder most of this blame. The bullpen is crap and they seem to be big believers in limiting starting pitching innings. Seems like if you're aiming to build a team where the starters max out around 170 innings on the season, you have to have a huge and productive bullpen. We don't. I don't understand how the team was made. Offensively, I think it's ok. I'm ready to move on from Polanco and Kepler but we have some depth behind them that could work. And I'll give the FO credit for trying to build around the offense by bringing in Donaldson and Cruz. But the team has a few too many bench players in starting spots right now. Hopefully, a little health fixes that.

    The offense already has some considerable weapons. The head coach seems to want to run a Big 10, 1950s-style, offense. This is the biggest question mark, to me, regarding the offense. If the new OC is actually allowed to throw the ball, play at a fast pace, put pressure on the opposing team instead of going ball-control in the first quarter, maybe your hopes are justified. But we have a lot of wait and see ahead of us.

    The more I read about Davis, the more I love that pick. I think the line should be pretty good and could be an asset. I'm still worried about the coaching philosophy on offense and how it might affect Cook in the long run but the pieces are there to be a top 5 offense. The pass rush is a concern. Maybe some coaching changes and a healthy Barr fix things. I like the competition for the other end position but I'm not sure any of them are going to become the next Hunter or Griffin. We do seem better against the run, which was my biggest worry. Special teams will, as always, cut out our hearts during the season in some magnificent way.

    Sano is the firstbaseman, Kiriloff should be a corner OFer. I think Kepler and Polanco are bigger concerns than Sano.
