    The trade made sense but obviously the Twins misjudged Shaun Anderson. That's problematic.

    I'd be pretty happy with Weathers and Mears, actually. Weathers is 21 and would probably be our best pitcher right away.

    So, the positives - Kiriloff and Larnich look like solid MLers and Jeffers was a good second round pick. But, sheesh, they have really whiffed on the pitchers. That the best pitching prospect is still someone acquired by Ryan is not good for our pitching pipeline. Admittedly, COVID made everything really hard to measure but, ugh.

    I thought during the offseason that too much faith was being put in Maeda. On the other hand, I thought Pineda was being underrated, so what do I know. I think the biggest concern goes to the Twins pitching philosophy of essentially five inning pitchers, two time through the order, etc. It doesn't seem to work, our bullpen is crap, and the games are very uninteresting to watch.

    I voted yes but I think Levine should go. Not sure about Falvey. I don't think the Twins will keep either Buxton or Berrios. I'm sort of torn on what to do. In reality, the FO didn't do enough to help with the pitching staff when the window was open and I'm not sure what they can do to pry the window back up, absent signing Rodon, Gausman, and another starting pitcher this offseason. Berrios seems like the type of durable pitcher that will be solid until he's 32 or 33. But he should be the third best pitcher on a good staff. If we look at the 2001-2010 Twin rotations, Berrios would arguably be the third or fourth best pitcher most years. Ideally, you'd want that pitcher to either be on a short contract (Pineda, Rogers) or under team control. Instead, someone will probably give him a Zach Wheeler type deal. But the Twins don't have much in the pitching pipeline so if we lose him, it'll be really, really bad. Like, 100 loss bad, I think.

    The twins offer was pretty low, pretty easy to turn that down. Best case for the Twins is he comes back, finishes the season healthy and they move him this post season

    It's a good deal for the Twins but the new pitchers are most likely #5, back of the rotation types, if that. Still, I like that we got AAA pitchers that will make the majors in this deal.

    I think you are being too charitable to this FO. They've made many bad moves where they simply misjudged the talent they had, misjudged talent they were getting back, or misjudged how other teams measured talent.

    I think Rocco is a bit over his head right now. His first few years were pretty easy so he didn't have to deal with total system failures. I also think managers/GMs/coaches can get better and learn from their mistakes. I loved Terry Ryan but he really struggled when he took over and his first wave of players was a fiasco. The Pohlads were to cheap to fire him so he just got better. Torre and Cox both struggled until they found a situation that worked for them. Heck, even Bellachick was fired once. So I'm not sure if he should go or not but I would hope that in the offseason, once he's out of this storm, he can evaluate what the heck he did wrong and fix it. I hope he looks at some of his strategies/tactics and compares it with other managers and tries to find out the difference. Our starters are 26th in WAR. Relievers are 24th. Is that just because they suck or was there something he did or didn't do that made things worse? What is Servais doing in Seattle that Rocco isn't doing here? Maybe Rocco has to be more emotional and scream at players. Maybe he realizes he needs a more experienced bench coach with him. Maybe he realizes that this current Twins team needs more Spanish speaking coaches. But if he comes back next year having learned nothing this year he should be fired.

    Berrios is gone so a smart team would move him now to get the highest value they can. Not sure I trust them to make a good trade but they really should try to do that now.

    The captain is right. We should be a stolid offense next year and could be a top 5 offense. Pitching sucks. They have to sign some good FA pitchers because the pipeline is not cutting it. Guasman, Rodon, and take a flyer on Bundy.

    You know, when i was younger, I collected Marvel comics like mad. I have thousands of them. Nearly full runs on many Spider-Man titles, etc. Stopped reading in 2000, so I'm realizing that the comics moved on after i stopped but I don't think I have ever read an interesting comic storyline with Kang in it. I was really hoping it wasn't going to be Kang. When my wife asked me who he was, I just shrugged and said, "Some lame villain." Loki was my least favorite of the three Disney+ shows so far. I liked how his arc ended in Infinity War, it stuck the landing, made Thor's emotions feel real, made us feel bad for a pretty solid villain. This show was just silly and the growth that we got felt forced, not real. I liked Sylvie a lot. Completely off topic but if we were going to get spin off shows, I'd vote for a X-Files type show with FBI agent Jimmy Woo, Darcy, and Monica Rambeau solving mysteries of the week. ???

    I think Morneau was probably pretty close to right on what was happening. I'm sure Donaldson used some swear words as well. Watching Cruz's reaction, he doesn't seem overly concerned. Mostly a nothing burger.

    I'm ok with the Twins not moving Berrios or Buxton but it makes no sense to hold onto Rogers. He's 30. Get something for him.

    Buxton should absolutely bet on himself. He's already made nearly 20m + whatever his UnderArmour and other sources of income have given him. Unless he's horrible with money, he's set for life. He'll get a big raise next year, regardless of anything, so it's really 70 - final arb year. Plus he's probably still steamed at the Twins from the extra year of control. No reason for him to think he should give a discount. Over his career, he's shown he's a 5 WAR player per/162 games. And he's an explosive, entertaining player at a premium position. Someone will give him a better offer in free agency.

    There are a few picks I liked - MacLeod will make the majors, I like that the Twins took Petty. Young power arm that could start if it goes well works for me. I wonder how much the Twins saved, if they can convince one of the handful of power HS arms to sign rather than go to college, I'd be really impressed.

    I haven't followed the minors and the draft this year like I have in the past but generally, the more picks in the top 100, the better the draft. I don't love the Twins college bat approach this low but another Larnich wouldn't bug me. I don't think we'll pick pitching with either of these two picks so I hope we get some massive power. The biggest problem (to me) in drafting college players is how old they are when they debut. Lanrich is 24. Rooker is 26 in AAA. Wallner is 23 in A+. Sabato is 22 and struggling in A ball.

    I think our best drafts, 2012, 2016, were because we focused on young talent that we could develop. Buxton, berrios, kiriloff, baddoo, mianda, rortvedt, balazovic, etc. Rooker is 26 in AAA? Larnich looks good but is already 24. Sabato (sp) is in the low minors, I think. I dunno. Elite college bats are great (Kris Bryant) but I'm not sure, usually those guys sign out of high school for a reason.

    I'd like to see Cruz in Toronto. No idea what we'd get from them but I really like Vlad jr so it's an easy team to root for.

    I agree with the original post. Levine hasn't made good trades and doesn't seem to have a good read on the talent. I'm still upset about the 2017. First, we're trading away guys like Ynoa (who did indeed have strong supporters, including Ben, who loved the deal for Atlanta) to get Garcia, only to turn around a week later and trade away Garcia and Kinzter for nothing. It was like the FO had no idea if we were buyers or sellers. That's a pretty big problem. I have no expectation that we will make a good trade this year but we should be selling off everything.

    They should move on from him but they won't. I tend to think managers are overrated when it comes to winning but a bad manager can really hurt by making things go from bad to worse. I tend to think that's what he's doing. I don't think he shows a lot of confidence in players and that tends to filter to the players, making them uncomfortable or press. We've seen him over manage several games this season and make some pretty obvious mistakes, like when he had to pull Berrios early b/c of too many mound visits.

    It's time to trade him for whatever they can get. The main problem is I don't trust Levine to make a good trade.
