  1. Maybe there is a reason May hasn’t pitched. Arm troubles, or maybe having some discomfort. Think most of us want to see him pitching more. And so does Molitor.
  2. Tom- anything said about the change in the outfield tonight?
  3. Terrific article!! Amazing breakdown and analysis! I would agree that something like tipping could be the reason for the drastic decline. That and maybe overuse.........
  4. I get the feeling that most posters think Stewart is going to fail. The same attitude seems to be present in the “hidden” evaluations of Gonsalves’ ability. AAAA pitcher, poor secondary pitches, only throws 90, bad control guy. Personally, I’d like to see both Stewart and Gonsalves get more than just one start, or some token late September appearances. The organization should want to know how these pitchers handle adversity. Very seldom does a rookie come up and blow everybody away. Some of our best pitchers over the years have had very poor beginnings. (See Johan Santana). We have more than a few pitchers on the staff currently who do not belong on a major league roster. One or two more wins or losses right now mean nothing in the overall picture. But we have been talking about Stewart and Gonsalves for years. They deserve a chance to show whether they can or cannot handle pitching in the big leagues.
  5. Absolutely great move! This move gives me encouragement that the Twins are willing to see what they have in players like Stewart. Really think this should have been Gonsalves, but it’s a start.
  6. Now the question is who is going to get called up to take Rodney’s roster spot. Personally, I hope it’s Busenitz.
  7. I’ll be extremely disappointed if it’s not Gonsalves. He has watched everyone else get a chance this year because of his inability to avoid walks. And I also think he needs more than a couple starts in September. I’d be really happy to see him take Odarizzi’s spot in the rotation. And please, no more Grossman next year. We can do better!
  8. Seth- what’s the outlook for Jay? He has faded into oblivion in the Twins organization. Thoughts?
  9. Knowing how the Twins roll, I wouldn’t be surprised when Magill comes off his maternity leave, he’s sent back to Rochester! After all, that should be his reward for his strong pitching lately, right? Tough to beat out Belisle and Drake, I guess!
  10. Have a bad feeling it’s Motter or Field. It’s it was Austin-everyone would be happy and it would be front page news!
  11. Seth- if there was space, would Jake Reed deserve a call up,or would someone else be more deserving?
  12. So, the 4 teams playing TONIGHT gave up 0 runs? Wow- what organization can say that?
  13. Wonder if they have anyone available to take his roster spot tonight? Or maybe they’ll just have to go with 23 like they did against Boston after the Escobar trade!
  14. I would hope they don’t trade Mr. Dozier just to free up a roster spot. It doesn’t appear Gordon is ready- fine- not a problem. If Dozier has one of his famous hot streaks the last 2 months, a QO would not be the worst thing to happen.
  15. No thank you! Starters don’t grow on trees!
  16. i have no problem with you and Nick ripping my post. It prompted what I wanted to happen: a discussion on the catcher position and the roster construction. I thought varying types of discourse, whether pro or con, supporting or questioning, was encouraged on this site....
  17. Great article, Ted! Agree 110%! It’s a great mystery how he has been used, or not used to be more correct!
  18. Escobar’s career has been on the rise- why trade him? Even if he’s used as a super utility player in the future- he has tremendous value. Imagine where the Twins would be without him the last 2 years!
  19. I would hate to trade Gibson, but the Twins do not have a viable 3rd base option in their organization, other than Escobar (Sano is not an option). Is Escobar is traded, do you think McMahon is the long term solution at 3rd, Jeremy?
  20. 3 hits! Embarrassed by the worse team in baseball. Belisle............. YUK
  21. I’d do any Dozier deal that Jeremy likes, but my position that keeping Escobar and giving him a QO, would not be the worse thing that could happen! I live in SW Minnesota, but still plan to take my grandsons to many more games this year and next, and the thought of Motter or Adianza being the guy at 3rd makes me puke!
  22. You can second guess until the cows come home, and never make anyone happy. Win some, lose some. The 3 guys mentioned in the article will never be cornerstone players. Good on them for having a good year. Let’s focus on the guys we have and see what we’ve got, especially Garver, Gonsalves, and even Cave.
  23. So, if you want the Twins to get rid of Escobar, who plays 3rd this year, and for that matter, next year? 3rd base is a black hole in the Twins organization, much like the catcher position. Why not see if you can extend him? Not the worse thing that can happen! Much better than having Adrianza or Motter there for 2 years?
