This reminds me of when the Texas state legislature passed a massive state government reorganization that proclaimed it would save the state millions. The net effect was that thousands of workers were laid off. One state legislator commented on this by saying: "If I knew that the bill would cause this much harm, I would have read the dang thing before I voted on it."

I agree with the "national rag" about attendance. More butts in the seats may "help" the Pohlads right now, but it may also help get new ownership. If the Twin Cities turnout looks like Tampa Bay, potential owners are losing interest. People on TD have complained (and rightly so) about boring baseball for a while. Now there is exciting baseball to be seen and it's time to show potential owners that attendance is not a worry.

I also do not remember Killebrew diving for ground balls, trying to stretch doubles into triples, or speeding down the first base line trying to beat out a groundball. As great as Killebrew was (and he was my favorite player), his job was to hit the ball into the stands in left field. He could do that even if he had a leg amputated. Not a good comparison.

Sounds like some people think Lewis should risk significant injury on every play just to keep them happy. I would rather see a Lewis, who possibly can hit .275 with some power, play everyday than watch Lewis get thrown out at third, re-injure himself, and be out of the lineup for a month. But that's just my opinion.

That is pretty slim pickin's for a 25-year period. Especially when the list includes both players drafted by the Twins and players the Twins acquired by trade.

Zimmy, Festa, and Zebby followed by Adam's, Prielipp and Raya and using Alcala and Funderburg properly? That's eight pitchers. What happens to Lopez, Ryan, Ober, Paddock, Duran, Jax, Sands, Stewart, etc.? How large of a pitching staff do you want?

Maybe if McCusker can get his batting average above .450 and continue hitting for power, the Twins "might" consider giving him an MLB tryout.

Jose Salas has been mentioned quite often in these recaps. I checked the box score and he's hitting .294. Has he finally figured out how to hit a baseball? Good for him.

"Carson McCusker went 3-for-3 with his eighth double, two walks and a stolen base. He extended his career-high, 11-game hitting streak. Through 30 games, he is hitting .352/.424/.686 (1.110) with eight doubles, nine homers and 29 RBI." Why is he still in Saint Paul? Can he play 1B? If not, then start training him.

I don't live in Minnesota so I don't get to see many Twins games. But from the few I've seen, it appears Bader is really enjoying playing in Minnesota (or just playing?). How do you locals feel about that?

I played 3B for many years (first baseball, then softball). I remember many games when the only time I touched the ball was throwing it around the horn. I used to stretch between pitches to stay loose (and to keep my head in the game). It can get pretty boring playing 3B.

The Saints have five guys with an OPS over .800? Twins have two and both are on the IL. But they do have Clemens, Kiersey, and Gasper on the roster. Makes no sense.

Trades? What trades? The Twins have the world's greatest bullpen, a starting rotation that the 1970 Orioles would be jealous of, and an offensive juggernaut that boasts six players hitting under .200 and a team WAR of 3.4! Why would we trade any of this treasure trove of talent?

If metrics is the way of the future, why not get rid of the "manager" position and just install a computer monitor with direct access to a Cray computer? (By the way, do they still exist?). Rightly or wrongly, I miss the days when a manager would look at the on-field situation and make a decision based on his feel for the game.
