I think I've read this same article six or seven times since the trade deadline passed (although with a different title each time). 1. Twins could use another impact starter. 2. Twins could use bullpen help (especially a lefthander). 3. Twins need to stay healthy. Rinse, Wash, Repeat.

A nit pick... "Soto has put things together at a level he has yet to reach" Huh? This is impossible.

That is a very strong statement. Do you have connections with the team, are part of the coaching staff, or just more insightful than the rest of us? I thought Mark's reasoning was very logical until you straightened me out. Thank you.

That is the best explanation of why Cuban was denied admission to the MLB Owners club. No owner would accept a new member who is going to upset the apple cart.

Rumors of additional money from MLB and a new TV deal being eminent "should" allow the front office to go after both a starter and a reliever. And after seeing the returns for needed players (teams' prospects in the 20's), there is no possible explanation for the Twins not being aggressive - except maybe gross incompetence.

This is what I love about the age of advanced metrics. You can pick out any three-letter acronym (some with a plus or minus sign for extra proof of validity) that gets results you need to "prove" your point of view or "disprove" someone else's. Or you can just create a new one if you have the time. And no one can say you're wrong because you have "statistics" to prove your theory. Below is what the University of Cambridge had to say about statistics (and it's satire, but true). Statistics • ‘Statistics is the art of never having to say you’re wrong.’ ‘ . . . mysterious, sometimes bizarre, manipulations performed upon the collected data of an experiment in order to obscure the fact that the results have no generalizable meaning for humanity. Commonly, computers are used, lending an additional aura of unreality to the proceedings.'

I have no idea what a bench coach does but I would sure like to see the Twins offer Cruz that title. He would probably add ten wins to the team just because of his presence.

The Twins Should Trade Alex Kirilloff to the Angels

Please pass along to the front office that I approve this transaction and they may proceed with the finalization. -
Your write up reminds me of Paul Molitor. Short, compact swing with good bat to ball skills. That Molitor kid worked out pretty well.

Week in Review: Winning Out West

I've found a way to make watching Vasquez playing almost pain free. Whenever he is in the starting lineup, I take a couple oxycodone pills that are left over from knee replacement surgery a few months ago (recovering from that was less painful than watching Vasquez playing).- 47 replies

Thanks for the picture of some unknown player wearing a #11 jesey. Maybe a few readers can recognize every player in the Twins' farm system, but not too many. I've asked that names be included for several years and several people have asked for names this year. These appeals seem to have fallen on deaf ears.

Great game but tough to watch on the East Coast. The game finished at around 1:30AM. Two observations. 1. It appears that the Twins' players are no longer part of the "hide your baseball socks" trend (which I've never liked) and have gone to the other extreme of "how much sock will MLB allow". Especially Santana. His pants look more like baggy Bermuda shorts. 2. Santana is much faster than I thought he would be. He hustled out an infield hit and ran all the way to the bleachers in the right field foul territory trying to get a foul ball.

The only change for me would be adding Bailey Ober to the honorable mention list for top pitcher.

Rocco didn't make a half-ass attempt on that ball. That was all Vasquez. -
I love the tennis analogy. I was "that guy" years ago. I played once with a co-worker who had played tennis for his high school. I served underhanded because it was the only way I could make sure it landed in the little box in which serves are required to land. I also "bunted" back more balls than I swung at. Between points, he kept yelling at me to hit the ball harder. But I didn't for two reasons: 1) I didn't have the skills to hit the ball any harder and 2) because I was winning. We never played again.

Quit using facts in an attempt to derail someone's "I hate Rocco" rant. Reality has no place in today's world.

Listing Jenkins among those "going off" because he hit one HR is misleading. He hit .217 for the week. Last year, that would have gotten him mentioned in the "not performing" write up.
