  1. That's a shame. Rotator Cuff strain. Matt just needs to call it a day and retire. He can't stay healthy and will likely never stay healthy long enough to crack the majors. He's already 26 years old.
  2. Couldn't have said it better myself. You have a group of fans here that insists on constantly blaming ownership for 100% of everything because they are billionaires, blah blah blah. The ACTUAL truth is that a lot of this is not ownership fault per say but VERY, VERY, POOR TO BAD player performance with a lot of the guys already here from last year. And some of it is Falvey's fault with the bad or questionable acquisitions (Santana, Margot, Polanco for Anthony DeSclafani, etc.). They didn't have to sign Santana, they didn't have to make the Polanco trade, etc. They could have dumped Farmer for a cash savings. A lot of this situation falls on Falvey's shoulders. I would also argue the big overlook (maybe intentional) is Rocco. Rocco and his staff appear to have utterly completely failed to get these guys ready in spring training as they never looked prepared from the start. They were brutally bad in spring training and they are brutally bad now. I mean seriously, we have 8-9 players on the roster hitting south of .200 and most of them barely .100. That's complete lack of preparation, not being ready, etc. That's ROCCO's fault and the other coaches. Not having Lewis hurts this team a lot, but Bux who was supposed to be the savior this year and finally healthy has played like complete crap so far, Julien has been HORRIBLE, and Vazquez even worse. Then you have the hideous outputs of Kepler, Farmer, Wallner, Margot, Santana, and the list goes on. At what point do you just start dumping these dudes on the street with pink slips?
  3. Yeah the Sox are bad, Twins are a close second right now. Offense is THAT bad, brutally bad. What is it 7 or 8 players in the lineup hitting below the Mendoza line. Absolutely atrocious.
  4. Not that I disagree, but Paddack has only been marginally better, and the offense has sucked almost as bad as Varland's pitching (if such a comparison is possible). Not sure how much i'd blame this on the FO or ownership because many of the players with the club from last season have not gotten it done AT ALL this season so far. At some point eyes need to start staring at Rocco and his assistants and asking: what exactly did you do to prepare these guys in spring training, or more importantly, fail to do in getting these players prepared? Quite honestly only a handful of them looked ready in Spring Training and much the same thing happened last season, but not to this degree. Maybe part of the problem is Rocco.
  5. i AGREE. This is a 100 loss team I think this season. They are playing that badly.
  6. They are going to make a move there's no question about it. Paddack and Varland have been awful. Need two starters.
  7. I wouldn't mind seeing more of SWR if he does what he did last outing. Up until that start I was highly skeptical of how it would translate to the majors because much of his minor league numbers were nothing short of mediocre at best. more starts and more analysis is needed, but he is the near term option with Festa further off.
  8. If the other's continue to hit as poorly as they've done thus far I doubt Martin gets sent down even for the Twins. They have what 7 or 8 players hitting less than .200, they literally can't afford to send him down without completely giving up on the season.
  9. I know I'm grasping at straws here, but when Brooks Lee gets healthy and assuming he produces, could he be legit platoon infield option (assuming the Twins are even willing to call him up)?
  10. I think it goes to show how much the offense became dependant on Royce Lewis later last season. This team needs other options, players internally to step up and outside acquisitions that can actually produce consistently. Julien, Wallner, Castro, Margot, Vazquez, Camargo, Farmer, Kepler (before he got hurt), and Buxton have all been brutally bad. That's too many chairs (players) to shift around on the deck of the Titanic (Twins franchise) at this point. Were sinking, were sinking!
  11. The answer is David Festa. His first five starts this season in AAA have been fantastic. If Varland can't hack it as a starting pitcher he needs to move to the pen. On the offensive side of the ball i've got no answers other than almost the entire lineup is utter trash. The sooner Royce Lewis gets healthy the better along with Brooks Lee in AAA because we are gonna need both of those guys by seasons end the way things are going.
  12. The Royals made some shrewd moves this offseason and it's paying dividends for them so far. I wouldn't be surprised if they end up ahead of the Twins by season end.
  13. I freely admit I was not super excited about SWR leading up to this season, but if he can be a consistent and effective 5th starter, I'll gladly eat crow or bugs (whatever is required). Varland has not looked good at all so far. We are gonna need him and possibly Festa later in the season as the starting staff has been shaky with Lopez off to a slow start.
  14. The season is already lost. This team is not a division winner at this point and they don't look it AT ALL. Look at the bright side, high draft pick.
  15. I disagree. Glad it's the way it is.
  16. I remember when Brad Radke won 20 games in 1997 (and there wasn't a whole lot to cheer about that season), and just being obsessed with his win loss stats as he got closer and closer to 20. How he didn't make the all-star team that season is ridiculous. Brad was the one Twin that I REALLY wished could have won a world series game for this franchise. He stuck with the Twins through some of the darkest years of this franchise in recent memory. Guy was an absolute horse of a pitcher. His win loss stats (since we are talking about them), would have been much better if the franchise had better players in the mid 90's.
  17. yeah I second this. Just give every team and every fan a world series trophy at the end of the season, do away with the divisions, and win losses records for pitchers and teams. While you're at it, do away with batting averages too, as those are stupid stats as well 😒
  18. I actually agree with the commissioner on this one. Total BS from the players union on the pitch count clock being the cause. They move that fast throughout the minors.
  19. "Caleb Thielbar Clears New Markers on Rehab Assignment" Better get a pin survey and make sure he's fully recovered. Remember surveyors often joke with each that online GIS (geographical information system) is short for get it surveyed. Twins had better get two or three doctors to check Caleb Thielbar, it's the only way to be sure.
  20. They need someone who can hit and they need another starter who can start.
  21. Nope it's never too early for wine or did you mean is it too early to whine about the Twins? 😀 All kidding aside I don't think it's too early to panic either. This team is not going to win the division this year. The sooner the Twins get Lewis back the better and they might as well call up Lee when he gets healthy and has a week or two in AAA to get going again. This team's offense is putrid.
  22. actually he said "year after year."
