  1. I agree with you. The homers have been circling the wagons around Buxton for years. They did the same thing with Sano until he was gone. Look it's unfortunate (really unfortunate), that he hasn't been able to stay healthy in years past and there's no doubt it's effected his production dramatically.
  2. There is truth to this statement above. I fear Royce Lewis is gonna fall into the same category. It's just injury after injury after injury.
  3. Good for Festa. Hopefully he nails this start. Exciting stuff.
  4. Radke was a horse. He had a few bad seasons, but overall a very solid pitcher. If the mid to late 90's Twins hadn't been so bad he would have been a much easier pitch (no pun intended) for the Hall of Fame.
  5. I like the idea of getting Jesus Luzardo, but giving up Brooks Lee is a steep price IMO.
  6. I think it's going to continue to be a battle between the Royals, Guardians, and the Twins for the top of the division. Kansas City has had tremendous pitching so far and they have young starters that are tearing it up. To me they look to be for real although the Orioles beat up on them during that previous series. Down the stretch I think it's going to be a battle of KC and the Twins for second place unless the Guardians cool off in the coming weeks. It should be interesting as they have a 3 game set at Texas, before the Twins come to town for three, followed up by NY. I have no idea who wins it at this point. The Twins have been red hot these last six series, but will see how they perform in the coming weeks when they play the Yankees and then the Guardians.
  7. I think my perspective was that it was a meh type of move. Kirlloff is just not cutting it at 1b that's apparent. He's sitting at negative war right now and is just awful. The Twins I think were hoping that this would be the season that FINALLY Alex would stay healthy and step in and take the role of fulltime 1b for the future. That hasn't happened. Carlos was signed as a backup in case that plan was slow to roll out or failed to happen. He's trying.
  8. Job hopping is not usually a good thing in my experience. You never have enough time to get fully imbedded and up to speed in most organizations in under a year. She didn't even make it remotely close to three years. She probably had little to no impact, or even a negative impact as she wasn't around long enough to do anything positive.
  9. pretty good analogy. MLB will collapse without reliable TV/streaming to all the teams "that don't matter" as some say. Sure they don't have the clout that the big market teams have which (tv stations covet because of viewership), but they still are a sizeable enough chunk of the overall revenue stream. MLB should be shaking in their boots with this situation. Alienating the fans, who will eventually lose interest and turn away for good will ultimately lead to the dirty word (contraction). IT's inevitable. MLB, the Twins, and other mid to small market teams affected by this had better act quickly and come up with a viable alternative otherwise they are FINISHED.
  10. Overall, I find the site to be relatively good, but the advertisements are at times maddening to deal with, especially when using the app on an I-phone or android. They interfere with scrolling down through the comments and cause buffering issues because of so many images and videos trying to cue up. No issues when open on a desktop computer browser, but the phone.... well that's a different story. I think the negativity factor has not been as bad this season even with the slow start. In years past it was much, MUCH worse. I also have less gripes with the moderators this season than in previous ones. Overall (and I'm gonna be fair in this assessment) I think they've done a decent job, but some of them (not gonna mention names) can severely overreact and get WAYYY to emotional, throwing warning points at commenters that really did nothing wrong. They have (in the past) been much to heavy handed when it's absolutely not necessary in many of the circumstances I've witnessed. I've also seen them attack commentors implying they have nefarious motives with their comments. Most of the stuff they were implying was just silly (actually stupid to be honest), etc. and I'm not the only one that has noticed this. A few of them have titanic sized egos. ehhh your just a moderator something along those lines. All that said, I've seen a lot less of that this season which is also good.
  11. And it's all incredibly gross as Baldelli hinted and not fit for human contact. Should that thing crack open (which will inevitably happen) the smell will clear out the dugout or clubhouse and the streak could be over. A hazmat team will be required to come in and remove it. I have witnessed something similar. A piece of pork in a plastic package dropped in a grocery store parking lot (whether by design or accident no-one knows) I worked at in high school. It sat there for days cooking in the hot sun. No one dared approach it. Then one day a noble automobile operator came along and ran over it. All hell broke loose. People scattered. A no-go zone of at least a 100 feet materialized around it. And we (the lowest of the low on the totem pole employees - shopping cart retrievers) were sent out by the store manager to pick it up and dispose of it. It was rancid.
  12. I tend to share your thoughts on this. Johan Santana was a reliever at first. Duran would take some time to adjust but if they were serious about it the discussions would likely be happening by now. We shall see.
  13. Mehhh overrated. Hawk was a North Carolina native. He was big on the Sox, but beyond that he's a Tar Heel.
  14. They've got great Greek food, Pizza, Hotdogs, museums, the Chicago Bulls, etc. I don't know. Chicago can be a fun place to hang out for a couple of days but I wouldn't live there again. Been there done that from 1990-1998.
  15. Oh they provided him plenty of time, he just didn't use it.
  16. The thing that irritates me besides what you mentioned is that apologists still are blaming the Twins for his downfall when he was still with this franchise. THAT'S super irritating. Sano did it to himself, mainly with a fork. Hope he succeeds with the Angels, but he squandered a lot of time with this team.
  17. I hope he does well, but his offspeed stuff is very hittable with the exception of the curve. We shall see.
  18. Considering this is Austin Martin's first extended stretch in the majors I'm happy with what he's done so far. He will get better defensively.
  19. yeah but you can't blame 8 guys hitting below the Mendoza line on injuries, ya just can't.
  20. If Larnach can keep hitting like he has, I'll take it with this offense.
  21. Back troubles like this typically plague the individual the rest of their life. I have scoliosis partly due to the fact that I grew so fast to 6'-5" in my youth. It's not severe, but I have to be very careful how I twist or bend over because that can trigger back spasms and sharp Sciatic nerve pain which hurts so bad it literally feels like someone is stabbing you with a knife. Really, it's that bad. I've had multiple back hernia's and they hurt too, but the sciatic pain is 10x worse, omg, shudders. Years ago, I was in so much pain from a back strain and a disc hernia I went out and bought one of those Tempur-Pedic beds for $5,000. People thought I was crazy for spending that much money on a bed but let me tell ya it was absolutely the best thing I ever did. Have slept like a baby ever since, keeps the spine perfectly aligned during sleep, and is worth it's weight in gold. Judging by the article he probably has a mild enlarged disc or minor disc hernia. If it becomes a continual problem he might eventually need fusion or disc removal which is not good. The good news is that he's young and in top physical condition which helps immensely in recovery.
