  1. People are convinced this is the real Joe Mauer, but not convinced this is the real Buxton? I think we need more than 10-15 games to know what either might be, but I could be wrong. Like it or not, the game is about more than just OBP. He plays (more accurately, how they expect him to play in the next year or two) first base, how he plays relative to: 1. Other options for the Twins 2. Other first basemen is how his future should be judged. IMO, we aren't enough games into this season to have any real idea yet.
  2. Minor league players already have a tough day. Little is gained from long games, I have no issue with the change at all. It literally hurts no one
  3. the Dalai Lama (really, this is true) was once asked about bad drivers, and what good they really provide to us all. He answered that they help him remember that he still has much to work on when it comes to accepatance and patience* The Cowboys and Yankees and Seahawks (if you lived here, you'd understand) supply that for me** *I can't recall what the actual words were, but that's the spirt of his answer. ** as do bad drivers. Jeebus I hate traffic.
  4. My wife is convinced that just going to sports' sites guarantees I'll get ads for women. I wonder if that is part of the algorhythm? And, that ad covering the mobile thing that Van posted? That's what I was too lazy to post....though I am nearly always on wifi, not the carrier.
  5. To me, the big story is that a playoff contender is going with a 23 man roster. Unacceptable. They have two relief pitchers the manager won't use.
  6. They won. Wasn't pretty on teh run prevention side, but the run scoring side was nice.
  7. I get why people are concerned, but I think people are only looking at the bad here, and not the good....and neither of us is going to chang the other's mind....so I'm out.
  8. Too high based on what? His high obp? His high slugging percentage? 35 percent is not all that high in this era.
  9. Go to fangraphs and look. His current strikeout rate won't continue either. I don't know why people assume it will.
  10. That's not going to continue. Meantime he's walking and hitting. People seem too focused on the strikeouts to notice the actual good he is doing.
  11. Sano has been better offensively this year than any year in his career..... I'm not sure I understand the complaints.
  12. People keep typing Rosario is a good OF, even though statistics were posted last year and in this thread, showing he's actually not when compared to other MLB OFers. I think people got an impression of him a couple years ago that doesn't line up with the facts. As for LOMO, not good yet. I remain, though not very, hopeful.
  13. Buxton is more disappointing than Morrison, to me. I keep waiting for the superstar....
  14. I've never understood the dislike of arod.....
  15. Why would rain be bad luck? Water is what gives us life! I think I read someplace it was considered lucky. No idea why. Are they going to play today?
  16. I don't think the Yankees will be in on him at all, given their minor leagues....but the Dodgers? They should have traded for him.....
  17. that was the head scratcher for sure. Solid game, other than the infield defense. The team looks like it is fully embracing TTO, at least on offense.
  18. I know I'm not supposed to watch his shows anymore.....but Master of None is great so far, about 6 episodes in.
