  1. About what you'd expect, I think.... https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/2018-positional-power-rankings-shortstop/
  2. Number two in all of baseball. Implying Dozier will get paid, imo. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/2018-positional-power-rankings-second-base/
  3. Not worried. He'll be better this year. He's young. And while not all young players get better, Kepler and his background, indicate he will.
  4. Lower than I'd hoped....is Sano really only going to be around top 10? https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/2018-positional-power-rankings-third-base/
  5. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/2018-positional-power-rankings-first-base/ Joe below median, and 25+% below the top ten players in runs created.
  6. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/2018-positional-power-rankings-catcher/
  7. There seems to be some confusion here...... Understanding does not equal condoning. I don't know how to make this more clear.
  8. Yes, and? Also not sure he's made generations of money yet, regardless of how it compares to your wages.
  9. Fair. And I would not do it. But I also am not from a poor nation, with an entire family to support, maybe for generations. But fair.
  10. I actually said none of that....but nice straw man. I said it was easy to sit back and pass judgement on someone, when none of us are in the same position. I never said he had the right to do this, nor did I say that he should not be punished, since these are the rules.....never once did I say anything you just typed. OTOH, I do think it is a stupid rule that should go away, but that is a different discussion that has nothing to do with the post you quoted.
  11. It's pretty easy to sit back at your computer and say that people trying to preserve their (and their family's....many from poor countries, oddly coincidentally) future should just not do everything in their power to do so....you aren't at jeopardy of losing millions of dollars. As if Tom Kelly didn't throw away syringes back in the day.....teams know. They only care when players get caught. Thinking otherwise seems naive to me.
  12. Disagree. The team has plenty of money to pay him....this team control thing is something we've all fallen for. Team control is code for "keep paying him less than he's worth." That said, he's not ready, and I'm one of his biggest supporters here...
  13. How bad would he have to be to be cooked? He was bad. Not good. He's not even a good backup, let alone starter.
  14. Aybar is not good. This is bad. We just can't have nice things as Minnesota fans
  15. Agreed, but things change when you are in the majors.....so while scouting helps, it isn't fully predictive. Either way, he's the backup this year and we'll know a lot more in 6 months than we do now.
  16. We won't really know much about Garver's defense for a couple of years, unless it is truly atrocious. But in general, unless you have an elite hitter back there, I agree.
  17. I say start the best player, in the best context. Garver can flat out hit minor league pitching. Let's give him a real shot this year.
  18. Which prospects are they protecting? Not opposed, just seems like other positions are bigger needs. That said, if they like him a lot, great.
  19. Yes to all of that. Well, except reading the minds of other players. But yes, scoops and stretches are in there. If we all watched every game, we'd see how infrequently stretches happen, and how most first basemen make the plays most every time. At least that's what I've read on line, I've certainly not watched every game. This is not to disparage Mauer, he is definitely very good on defense. It's just that the gap is much smaller than we think between good and bad defense at first. Mauer is a good player, the question is how long that will last, and what it costs to pay him, and have a roster spot, compared to other options.
  20. It's almost like defensive stats aren't out there to look at.... He's very good, but the delta on runs saved for first basemen is tiny compared to other positions. Tiny.
