  1. I'd deal anyone they don't think will be here in two years. This team isn't great. They have one star, and he's going to play 100 games.
  2. Swanson just isn't the guy you go massive for. He just isn't likely to be great long, even short term there are questions. They could have had Rodon last year for what looks like a bargain now.......I have doubts they sign him. But as pointed out above, they might be desperate.
  3. I initially thought this was a good idea. Now I'm not sure. Imo, this team isn't a legit playoff team. They should not be dealing prospects away. If anything, they should be trading veteran players off. Sixteen million a year for a guy you hope only plays half a year seems like an odd investment for a team that won't sign elite players.
  4. More than not having a great players at all? You want great players, you pay. Or somehow develop a bunch at the same time.
  5. Why is it dumb to pay players? I don't get this. Where should the money go?
  6. Syndergaard to the Dodgers....rumor has it. So, that's off the table. Also, y'all need an editor. Bassitt was signed a loooooong time ago.
  7. Agreed, no way they take an extension mid-year unless it is a TON of money. Also, people here yelled all summer that trading for an injured Mahle was a mistake, now everyone wants to extend him? I'd be good with a Gray extension at this point, like 5 years at 20MM per.....that's what it will likely take.
  8. Archer and Bundy aren't on this roster. If you can get Swanson for 5 years and 90 million, he'd already be signed in ATL or elsewhere. Even 7 years 126.
  9. Neither is here past this year. Those are the players you trade in a youth movement. It is one plan or the other....
  10. Thanks, I don't see them signing Rodon to a 6-7 year deal. They passed on EVERY great pitcher last year, despite it being the best FA class ever. And, for less money than Rodon will take..... Eovaldi? Is that really going to make them a great team with no SS? Which OF do you want? I'm not sure any of them are better than their existing options at this point.
  11. If they want to give the youth movement a go, they need to be trading Gray, Mahle, and Kepler. None of them will be here when the youth take this team to greatness.
  12. Like what team? What do you want them to do to be a legit playoff team in the next 2-4 years?
  13. Why is SD paying most of Tatis' contract? Why would you want him if he's not good enough to carry the team (which is your argument for not signing CC)? I'm not sure I understand any of your post. Also, ballplayers pay pro-rated taxes based on where their games are played, so only about 60% (as he'll have to play SD and LAD) of his money is taxed at CA rates. But I doubt that matters much to him. Name a player they Twins should extend like ATL did, please. I'd bet the VAST majority of fans wanted CC signed at that price. VAST. They want winning, exciting, players.
  14. You don't have to pay to get into that bar either......and the selection is likely a lot better and cheaper. And the parking is less. And it is closer to your house.
  15. Ya, 41 and partly sunny now. I'm out for a bit....
  16. Start the game earlier during the week....lower prices......other than that, what? Why would a casual fan go to a MLB game? Especially for a team they can't even watch on tv and learn about? They are going to have to offer all kinds of special deals, making pre-sales even harder! Because whose going to buy tickets early in the year if they think the team will offer discounts later? I don't envy the sales department right now.
  17. Twins won't even promote guys as aggressively as the Braves when they lose 4-6 OFers.... Not one player on this roster deserves the kind of deals the Braves hand out. Arraez has bad knees. Ryan is a pitcher. That's it among the young players, isn't it? I mean, Jeffers, Gordon, all the pitchers, Larnach, Kiriloff? None of them should get an extension at this point. Lewis hasn't been able to walk / run for two years now.
  18. Pretty sure you missed his point by the distance from the earth to the sun.
  19. What's the actual difference between 10 285 and 13 350? I mean, given the time value of money, not much really. It's actually less per year. If he's awful after 10 years, just cut him.
  20. With the previous regime's players.....they weren't a .500 team the last two years. At some point, results matter. Are they getting better, or worse, the longer they are in control? They did what Ryan wouldn't the two winning years, they added to a good team. Injuries were awful last year, but they dealt for two SPs with injury histories (I liked the Mahle risk).
  21. If the Twins won't sign elite players, they should be willing to take bad contracts for better prospects.
