  1. Recent buzz has Max Clark as an option for the Pirates at 1st overall. I know the top-5 in this class is very strong, but would passing on Crews/Skenes/Langford be a Bryan Bullington level error on the Pirates part? Keith Law 1:39 I think that's been the buzz all spring - if they wanted to go HS, he'd be the choice. And in some drafts he'd be 1-1. It doesn't hurt that he plays about 20 minutes from Pittsburgh's AAA affiliate, so any exec in town to see their prospects can just pop over and see him too. I think the risk they run if they take Clark is that a year from now Crews and Skenes are in the big leagues and Clark is in A-ball, even maybe doing well there, but they've missed a chance to get someone who gets there almost right away.
  2. Zack twink 1:34 Was Emmanuel rodriguez over hyped... or it there not a reason to worry yet. Thank! Happy birthday Keith Law 1:34 He's very young, with less than a half-season in low A last year, and it's only two months.
  3. aholla 1:32 If Stephen Strasburg was coming out of San Diego State this year, would he be a unanimous lock to go No. 1 overall or would there be some arguing for a hitter given rising concerns about pitcher durability? Keith Law 1:32 Paul Skenes is, in effect, Stephen Strasburg in this draft. And Skenes isn't a lock to go 1.
  4. Josh 1:16 Louie Varland & Bailey Ober — middle rotation guys? BOR? Keith Law 1:17 Varland might prove me wrong. I didn't think he was a long-term starter but he looks really, really good.
  5. Benjamin 1:12 Thoughts on Jose Miranda & his future? Keith Law 1:13 Victim of circumstance. He's a regular for someone. Twins might just not have a place for him. Would really help if he had more (any) defensive value.
  6. My peas did not grow this year, pretty sure there was an issue with the seeds I got....about 1/5th came up. Sigh. The spinach and cilantro are out of control. The tomatoes are not loving this cool weather (its been an awesome week here weather wise), but are growing. We have more mint, oregano, and thyme than anyone could use, but our rosemary plant is very unhappy. The stupid squirrels pick our strawberries, then don't even eat them. I covered them yesterday, we'll see if that work. Unsure what's up with my rogue potatoes (every year I think I pick them all....). Six plants are up, two are already massive. I tried to dig up new potatoes yesterday from one, but didn't find a single potato. I know there are some in there...... And, my zuchini is odd right now, but that might recover. I love gardening....
  7. Always maintained my belief in Jeffers......so many here wanted to just DFA him.....
  8. Tough call on Julien.....as his defense isn't just "ok", it's actually bad. I remain convinced his bat will play, the question is where? Also, I can't see them extending Polanco. Not with Lee, Lewis, Julien, Martin (if ever healthy), Salas, et. al........If Polanco was healthy? Maybe. But, he hasn't been that for some time.
  9. I mean, I'd move Kepler and call up Wallner, but I understand why that isn't happening (also, not likely to happen until July anyway).
  10. It is looking like that streak is over.....(the good one)....hopefully for him he can get back to close to there, but I have doubts.
  11. Even with the first pick, this is a very good looking draft. Varland looks like a number 3/4, and I'm confident in Wallner and Julien contributing. Then there are the relief pitchers.....
  12. I'd be shocked if those aren't the top 3. Pending health, of course. This is based on my extensive personal scouting, of course.....
  13. Of those, I have no interest in the Gonzalez. I'd take Skenes over all but two of them....
  14. If Skenes drops to five, I have no idea what teams are doing.....and if he drops to 6, I'll be very disappointed. He could probably be in the bullpen this year in MN.....and then AA to start 2024 as a starter.
  15. I'd love for Maeda to be in teh bullpen......and just give him his #$^#@ money.
  16. And? He's #7 now, and the #2 pitcher. He hasn't TUMBLED....I really don't get your point here.
  17. He's number 7 on the consensus board! How far has he slipped? He's the 2nd rated pitcher.....
  18. He was consensus top five not long ago...I hope they aren't picking based on the consensus board!
  19. I wanted Turner so much in that draft....oh well..... I have no idea what's up with Dollander, obviously, but he was projected 1:1, and now is around 1:7....it's not like he's REALLY fallen, just fallen, if you know what I mean. I also get these two HS players stand out.....I'd be good with any of the top 5-10 at this point, I think.
  20. Skenes, Clark, Dollander for me, but I always want an elite arm at the top, and am not usually right......but I haven't exactly loved their HS SS picks lately.......so I'm scared of the two HS guys.
  21. 7th on the consensus big board seems pretty close to top 5 to me.........I have no idea where you think he's going, but he's going in the top 10 unless he gets hurt, likely top 7-8.
  22. I'm really curious why Cossetti hasn't been promoted......I mean, I have zero data, other than the stats, but still....
  23. This team really needs a spark on offense. And other than Lewis, I don't know where it comes from. Every player looks like the player they are (other than CC).
