  1. Better to be ahead than behind. I liked the PH a lot. They have an off day. Using the bullpen made a ton of sense to me.
  2. Sigh. One game in, and the complaining is on. I just don't get how that makes one happy. Big fan of the Lopez trade . It wasn't bitter for many of us.
  3. We already have HS players saying they don't choose baseball for this reason.....they can make so much more in football or basketball (not that it is realistic for the vast majority of them), and make it day one without 5 years riding buses and losing money (though your plan fixes the money losing issue). Really, they can afford more than they are now paying....no issue. They choose not to, which is their right, of course. Economics is the thing we'll never agree on when it comes to baseball.....I'm ok with that.
  4. This is the worst idea ever for so many reasons. What top athlete will ever choose baseball again, if they have an option? The best players should be paid like the best players? This would 100% drive down baseball participation and pay overall. Awful idea.
  5. Paddock is a unicorn for me, if he starts more than 10 games, I'll be surprised. Big believer in Ober, SWR and Varland to number number 3 types, maybe one of them is better. You know, bring in those three and keep Lopez and sign Nola....or something...
  6. Riddled? They have two guys hurt (check out some of the pitching staffs across the league), and they added depth at every position. I have no idea how they are riddled at all. Patchwork? Larnach is a legit starter when healthy. Buxton and Kepler are also (and Taylor / Gordon / Gallo are all legit backups, potential starters). Then you have Miranda who looks more than legit, Correa, an injured Polanco (backed up by Gordon, Farmer, and others) and an injured AK (backed up Gallo). They have one or two starting catchers healthy....... I'd guess in this environment, every team needs to average (or very close to) 5 runs a game to be over .500.....
  7. Dobnak has been better, by far, than a guy no one has signed to a MLB deal.
  8. Not one young starter is in the rotation. This is an odd stance, imo.
  9. Got it. I think it's about depth, not trust. I think I'd start all three in Minnesota next year, but that would crush the depth. I would move Maeda to the bullpen and pay him, and put Ober in Minnesota now, but it's not up to me.
  10. Well, two are likely gone after this year..... So there will be space next year.
  11. 25 HR and .275 would be all star level hitting in this environment.
  12. No chance. Plus, why wouldn't that team have just signed him? No chance.
  13. Mahle is pitching 4-5 innings at his normal speed? How is he not ready? To answer your question....because they have to think about the future, not just day one. Maeda doesn't have options (though, I would put him in the pen and just rewrite his contract and use him as a 2 inning guy).
  14. No staff averaged that. Not even close. I have no doubt they'll let at least three starters go 6 most starts (Ryan, Gray, Lopez). They did that when they had good pitchers before. As for Mahle and Maeda, that depends on health and how they are doing that day and how rested the pen is.
  15. When did he last sign a MLB deal? I don't get the angst, frankly. I'm happy for him, but I don't think this matters to the Twins much at all. Also, Winder was pitching on a back field today.....
  16. What changes for the vast majority of fans if they are more transparent? I see only downsides, frankly.
  17. Truth. Paddock getting hurt was a blow. Not piggy backing was a weird choice, imo.
  18. Of those 124 pitchers, Bundy had the 20th worst ERA, and Archer 26th, if you prefer ERA.
  19. 124 pitchers pitched 100 innings or more. Bundy was 109th in fwar, and Archer was worse. How is that anything other than terrible?
