  1. Maybe it is. This is a business
  2. It's also been shown to be unhealthy and make you less happy.
  3. You can trade veterans for C prospects....that might or might now work. Did anyone say trade for a good veteran?
  4. I find it having it both ways to complain Buxton is here and a health risk, and to want him here. If you want him here, how much better do you want than Gordon, Taylor, and Gallo as current backups, with Martin (ugh, hurt) and a few other minor leaguers not that far off that can play center potentially? I clearly don't understand the complaint about what the FO is doing with CF. Help me understand.
  5. 4 catchers appeared in that many games last year. I think your goal is unrealistic. I agree they need more catching prospects, but it is also possible they'll just sign FA catchers every year they need one, and concentrate on other positions in the draft and trades (I'd consider Polanco for a high level C prospect and another player this year or next).
  6. You are comparing him to guys that were never considered real prospects? And only looking at Twins? Ya, there just isn't data to back up your hypothesis. MANY college guys barely appear in the majors before 24......
  7. Nothing about that last paragraph is backed up by data.
  8. If I was going to actually worry about baseball, the third catcher would be near my top concern (that and that Gallo and Kepler both don't hit).
  9. It truly is amazing. Plus he's a catcher! Hardest position in the game. The lack of patience from fans always amazes me.
  10. Not to mention everyone complaining about Buxton hasn't said if the Twins should have traded him.... He was also drafted by the previous regime, as was Kiriloff..... But it's this front offices fault they are here apparently. Three starting pitchers were traded last year deadline. They weren't getting Castillo. The Yankees should be fired, they traded for montas...... So, you either traded for Mahle, or didn't try to make this team better at the deadline.
  11. What should they have done with Buxton, if not sign him?
  12. Love reading your stuff....hoping you write more!
  13. Depth and injury protection. ... They either over reacted to last year, or are right in thinking kids of injury will occur again. If they use the youth, they have no backups. That's my theory.
  14. He just looked out of position and slower last year. Could have been the coaching.... Good luck to him. Always liked him.
  15. Not getting him without Lee or Lewis. Plus three more prospects. Look at what Castillo brought
  16. You wanted them to do what with Buxton? Cut him? Trade him? How many more players did you want them to add this year? Buxton and Kiriloff were drafted by the previous regime. In addition to adding two OFers both of whom are elite defenders, they have Gordon, Larnach, and Wallner, potentially Martin or Lewis. If they added more, who would you get rid of? How would you like them to acquire more pitching? They went out and traded a great hitter for a starter. What other starter that was better was traded?
  17. If I knew Burnes would sign an extension I'd trade for him. But he'll want at least five years.
  18. Bad teams aren't trading controllable great pitchers. Good teams do.... If the Brewers struggle, I expect a deadline deal, but I don't know what the twins should do. That Zac Gallen trade was awful, and when made I wished the Twins had. I agree, there are few ace types.
  19. That's true of every team. The only thing a FO can do is add better backups. You can only have 26 and 40 players. Your statement wasn't that they did nothing to mitigate the risk every team has? I clearly read it wrong.
  20. You aren't really answering the question, are you? How many backups do you want? They brought in 2 OFers, 2 INf, and another SP. Everyone whined Gallo was redundant, I said he was here to make sure injuries didn't hurt as much......and they were keeping Kepler for that reason....Did you want them sign another backup? Whose place would he take?
  21. You are expecting backups to be good MLB at every position? I didn't mention the bullpen. They brought in 2 OFers and 2 backup infielders. They brought in another SP. How many backups do you want them to add?
