  1. With Vazquez at DH today, I cannot answer your question. It makes no sense to me....I figured Jeffers was nicked and would get the next three days off, but nope.
  2. Jeffers catching and Vazquez as DH? That literally makes zero sense, if Vazquez is the better defender. Zero. Nada. Nil. Zippo.
  3. No prospect is a finished product, and they will 100% learn on the job at the MLB level. It's kind of a weird thing to say that the offense picked up when the offense picked up....that seems like a tautology to me.
  4. Guys can find a position if they can hit.....not so much the other way. Like who, btw? Julien was decent/good at 2B this year. Larnach if slightly below average in LF, but not awful. Wallner is under rated by fans, Who among high picks do they have that has no position (other than Sabato, ugh)?
  5. I'm ok with Jeffers getting more time off is he's dinged up at all......We all know after a day off that Vazquez catches anyway, so he'll catch 2/3 games...one game for Carmago is fine.
  6. sure, but you need to find a RH RP that is good, available, and has been good for more than 1 year......who? It's easy to say "make the team better", without saying how at all....
  7. I think Wallner is better than Max, so we'll disagree there. But, my goal would be to get a Catching prospect for Max somehow this year. I think Rodriguez or Larnach could play LF (or Castro or Martin, though that would be a drop off from Max) with Wallner in right. I'd take that chance......but then, I tend to trust player development a lot more than some.
  8. If you don't trust Varland and Paddack in the bullpen in the post season, I'm not sure why you'd trust some random RP,
  9. I don't think you can get BOTH those players for Kepler.
  10. I'm guessing that would cost Kepler and Julien, and the Twins would get another lower level prospect..... Which I'd do. Basically trading Julien for a top catcher prospect.
  11. I'm not trading any prospects I like for a RP, certainly not a RH one. I might be talked into a lefty, but I'm not sure that matters a ton. I'm much more likely to do something the fans wouldn't like, frankly. Like trade Kepler for a legit catching prospect and put Wallner in right full time.
  12. Agreed. He's untouchable, unless you get a great pitcher back. No way I'm trading him. He's doing what we wanted Jenkins to do.
  13. If they have them ranked the same, that's very different than picking a lesser guy to get two guys, the second of which is better than other guys in that area of the draft. Either way, not likely this year given the rankings.
  14. Always the slow play..... Some teams are aggressive and play the youth . To be clear, I followed Seth here years ago, because he's so passionate about prospects. And I want to see more writing from him, but he's never advocated faster advancement that I can recall
  15. He's not the Twins number 2 catcher.....that's on the Twins for refusing to play Jeffers like other teams play their top catcher (admittedly, Jeffers isn't hitting well right now, but I don't believe in the hot hand all that much, play the better player more).
  16. I mean, I'd rather get Liriano and Nathan (let alone also a number 5 starter) rather than Ryan alone any day of the year.
  17. I have no idea how this is relevant at all. The other players being great doesn't make him good.
  18. The draft's lack of depth this year (from what I read on EVERY site) makes me think an under slot deal is a worse idea than ever this year. IMO, take the best player at your spot is almost always a better idea than take two lesser rated players (which they would be in a scenario where you are intentionally taking a lesser player to pay them less).
  19. I don't think I'd trade for a RP at this point. In the post season (hopefully sooner) they will add Varland to the bullpen, and if Stewart is healthy, you 100% don't need a RH RP. I could maybe be talked into a LH RP, but is there one we trust? I'm not sure. As for SP depth, I'm not sure what people expect. Outside a team or two, there aren't teams with even 4 good pitchers in the majors, let alone backups ready to take their place.
  20. I mean, Kent Hrbek isn't a mlb caliber 1B anymore....maybe Vazquez isn't either. I'm not sure how things that happened 3-7 years ago tell us much more than the last 18 months do.....
  21. Which has nothing to do with Vazquez being good. It's a knock on their catcher depth. Which we both dislike.
  22. He acknowledged it, calling a 7 wrc below average......, he didn't try to look at the relative value of that and his defense. It was also a few lines.... In a long post.
