  1. If healthy, I’m confident we will get good, consistent production from Buxton, Bell, Jeffers. Keaschall and Martin don’t need to improve, but there is greater risk of them taking a step back. So if they can maintain their production we’ll be in good shape. Lewis, Lee, Wallner, Roden - 2 or 3 of them need to show material improvement for this team to succeed and for them to remain a part of the future. Big year for these 4. Julien, Larnach, Clemens, Outman seem like placeholders. If they do well that’s great, but they’re likely biding time until the likes of Culpepper, Jenkins, E-Rod, force their way onto the roster.
  2. I agree with this, but even if Raya moves full time to the bullpen I think he starts in AAA until he shows more consistency and gets that walk rate down. Prielipp + 1 higher end free agent would go a long way to making the bullpen respectable: 4 are set: Sands, Topa, Funderburk, Orze 2 other young starters: Prelipp + Festa? 2 free agents: 1 higher end + 1 from the handful of bargains we’ll try out Raya, Adams, Ohl, Morris, Klein etc. in AAA as depth and see who breaks out.
  3. Need to use this surplus of 4th outfielders to rebuild a bullpen. Any or all of Outman, Larnach, Martin, Roden, Clemens could help that cause and pave the way for the youth movement. Gonzalez being right-handed seems to have a lot of value as a platoon bat/DH/PH. And Keaschall to the OF (or 1B) may get a lot of steam soon if we get lucky in the draft lottery, but I’d give him 2026 to try and stick at second.
  4. Love reading this! I have been downplaying his potential impact in my head because of injuries and the Julien-like (over)patience, but if he reaches his potential along with a few of the others, look out.
  5. That’s a pretty varied list in terms of experience and familiarity. I lean toward Servais with this young team and need for a guy who has built credibility and experience outside of this organization.
  6. I like this idea. His bat should play up with less stress on his body and I’d trust him to be able handle it defensively much more than a converted outfielder. We’d need a stop gap catcher next year but Tait may be ready by 2027 at some point and he looks like the future.
  7. It’s great to see 6 players with > 100 wRC+ since the deadline, plus Lee and Lewis who for some reason I continue to think can be average and above average respectively. Larnach already looked like a release/trade candidate before Martin got up here and started hitting - now it looks even more certain that Martin can take over in left. Put Jenkins in right, move Wallner to DH and add a first baseman and we have a chance!
  8. On the bright side: Zebby continues his upward trajectory; Buxton, Lewis, Keaschall, Jeffers - guys we care about for 2026 - continue to perform late in the season; Pablo is almost back. Let’s see if Bradley can back up his last outing tonight!
  9. As much as I want to believe Buxton will continue to be healthy for the next 3 years, Jenkins also provides the perfect backup CF option, in addition to holding down a corner spot.
  10. Good article and agree this looks like the “low point”, which is still netting him an OPS over .800. I’ll take that on a minimum / low salary every day of the week, which is where he’ll be for another 2-3 years after this. It does look like his future is as a DH on this team given the outfield options we have coming up soon, but that’s fine. DH with occasional RF or pinch hit duties when someone else is rotating through the DH spot. I’d stick him at #5 in the order and leave him there for the foreseeable future.
  11. They have to figure out first base. Julien looks lost there. Would love to have Sabato get ABs in Sept to see how it looks, but otherwise one of Wallner, Keaschall, Fedko, Roden (or even Jeffers if they can find a C) should be considered. I believe in Keaschall at 2B as he gets more experience, but he has looked rough the last few weeks.
  12. This is the way. Festa, Preillip, Bradley, Ohl (and maybe Raya) is a good start on rebuilding the bullpen. And you still go 8 deep with MLB ready starters. Just don’t trade Ryan or Lopez!
  13. Roden always seemed like a replacement level player, maybe slightly above. Think Larnach but for < $1mm instead of $5mm next year. Rojas is the one that needs to be a mid rotation guy and this trade will be a win for the Twins even though on a personal level I’d rather they hadn’t made it.
  14. There has to be new ownership. New ownership would keep Pablo and Ryan and add a bat, perhaps even trading some of our wealth of prospects for a big bat to play 1B, which would really balance out the lineup. There is potential for 2026 with new ownership in place.
  15. Plugging Jenkins and Culpepper into a lineup with Buxton, Keaschall, Wallner, Jeffers (& Lewis?) by mid 2026 looks like it could be dangerous. And there are so many pitchers close to being ready for the majors they are going to need to start moving some to the bullpen to rebuild that in a hurry (Festa, Preillip, Raya, Bradley are my initial choices)
  16. I was big believer in Lewis to 1B but have to admit he has done well at 3B defensively this year. To me Lee is either a SS or Utility player. Even at his best he’ll have a questionable bat for a corner position. Looking out to 2nd half of next year or ‘27 best case is Culpepper supplants Lee, who becomes utility guy, Lewis at 3B and Keaschall at 2B. Then getting a slugging 1B internally or externally.
  17. Ownership situation and the CBA being set to expire after 2026 complicates everything. It may be that the Twins are set up well to see how it plays out with few large contacts on the books. But if there is a significant work stoppage or even a canceled season, key questions include, what happens to contracts that run through 2027 (Pablo) and how is service time handled, especially for players set to be free agents after 2027 (Ryan, Ober).
  18. If we really do need to fish or cut bait on Outman this year it makes that Stewart trade even weirder. I get that his arm may be a ticking time bomb and it’s highly unlikely the Twins make a push this year… but man he would look good in the pen right now. For now I’d bring up Preillip and move Festa to the bullpen for remainder of the year. Maybe along with Sands and Topa we can piece together 3 innings.
  19. If he becomes a #3 or 4 starter for 4-5 years the Twins will have won this trade handily without even considering what Tait may bring. He’s a good starter prospect who was available because we were offering a stud reliever and he has some question marks. Getting an upside guy to slot into the rotation soon + a catcher with above average starter potential is good work.
  20. While I agree with the sentiment that this was in part due to future payroll, it was also a recognition that there was something about this team not adding up (the “vibes”). The sum of the parts was greater than the whole and instead of running it back and hoping for better results they are resetting. The Varland deal is the biggest head-scratcher. He seemed to settle in well to the bullpen but I wonder if the history of him resisting that move played a part in trading him now. I also wonder what was going on with Jax given the scene from the other day. Beyond that I’m fine with the value received for Duran, and with Stewart’s injury history I understand the desire to cash in now - though the return is questionable. Moving Correa frees payroll and enables Lee to get a real shot at short, with Culpepper and Houston lurking if he doesn’t come through. And moving the impending free agents had to be done. So at the end of the day I’m fine with the moves, but like everyone I question the returns. I wonder where our farm system will be ranked overall after yesterday.
  21. Agree with everything in this article. Would love to keep both but feels like that would be front office malpractice if you have a chance to flip a reliever for two top 100s and pass.
  22. In general if they get blown away with an offer they need to consider it. A top 3 overall prospect? Hard to pass up. Once you get past the top 5 overall prospects it would take more for me and would need to include a pitcher. Tong (P), Jett Williams (SS), Benge (OF) from the Mets and we also throw in Columbe? An overpay from Mets but Cohen doesn’t seem to care.
  23. Wallner is streaky and he’s due for a hot one. Lewis may have found something and Correa is no longer a liability. Keaschall and Lopez come back and we are cooking. Would still trade Castro, Bader, Columbe for good value, if it’s there, and DFA France (Keaschall can play first remainder of this year).
