    Governer Walz has announced the closing of Minnesota’s K-12 schools, beginnning Wednesday. Briana Bierschbach, Star Tribune: On Sunday, the governor announced that Minnesota now has 35 cases. One of the new COVID-19 cases occurred in south-central Minnesota's Renville County, making it the first in a largely rural county, the state Department of Health said. The state also has its first case affecting a teenager, in Dakota County. While investigations of each case are ongoing, there is no evidence yet of community transmission of the virus from one person to another within the state, said Kris Ehresmann, infectious disease director for the Health Department. All patients so far appear to have been infected during travel to high-risk areas or by contact with infected travelers, she said. Twenty of the 21 patients are recovering at home.     A second Jazz player returned a positive test. The way the first player reacted, being apparently healthy and asymptomatic and acting out in anger, I’m going to guess that the team (or whoever) released the results without the player’s permission, and wouldn’t that be a breach of confidentiality? Helps me to speculate that these sports teams/leagues aren’t necessarily handling this properly.

    I feel our public officials should be telling us: Be smart. Take precautions. Take this seriously. It’s ok to stay home for a while. We’re here for you. Instead of cancelling social life for us, and all the panic and effects of that. Sure it’s more complicated than that, but that’s the essence of it for me.

The fourth and fifth cases were discovered through testing Tuesday and involved a Ramsey County resident in the 30s age range, and the Olmsted patient in the 50s age range.     You are making people choose between the Yankees and White Sox? Who’s the real Philistine in this example? Seriously though, I don’t want to see #7 seeds in the MLB postseason. If MLB wants to add more teams to the postseason, they will have to reduce the schedule, as other posters have been saying. What do you think about an NFL style postseason? Or letting the highest seeds play all the first round games at home? I think something needs to be done in your scenario to confer more advantage for the team that won 110 games during the season over the team that only played .500 ball all year.

    I want to see it. also, my draft reshuffle was just an idea. I would also say it’s not as “dooming” as you suggest. It only moves the top picks around a bit. The worst teams still get high picks, but the promise of the top one or two picks is removed. My idea also offers a nice consolation to the last team that misses out on the postseason (on the final day, for example).

    I’ve been thinking about tanking for the draft. You could set the following season’s draft order something like this: 1. Final team eliminated from postseason play the previous year 2. Lottery selection among worst records previous year 3. Second to last team to be eliminated from postseason (Twins in 2015 were this team) 4. Second lottery selection of worst record 5. Third to last team eliminated 6. Worst record of teams remaining 7. Fourth to last team eliminated or Wild Card losers 8. Next worst record of teams remaining And so on, or something like that, instead of guaranteeing the top pick to last year’s worst record.

    Obviously the deal with the Red Sox was better, but getting Maeda is the key. Dollar for dollar a very good deal for the Twins, in my opinion.

    I don’t think it’s as simple as a Graterol-Maeda swap if the partner is the Dodgers. Maeda being more valuable that Graterol, in my estimation.
