    Wait.. I was under the impression that players could not be punished for this.     I missed those other links eliminating Balazovic, sorry. Personally I do think the Twins have good rotation prospects closer to the majors. But... Get ‘er done!

Offer him, and paper over the difference with cash considerations if necessary. That’s what I would like to see happen if the Red Sox are absolutely refusing Graterol at this point. If the Twins won’t part with any of their other young arms for a nice starting pitcher like Maeda, then I will be non-impressed. It will remind me of the Dodgers and all their José de Leon stuff from a couple years ago.

    True, we are trading with the big boys, but I am going to go with my gut reaction that this is a good move...

    And good trades usually mean trading good players for good players. Graterol should have some success in MLB, and the Dodgers are whip smart, but I think we are finally getting that arm for the rotation that we need. And Maeda makes next to nothing, which though I am pro-player I have to tip my cap to the front office for not even adding salary in this deal.

    I’d have to look at it closer tomorrow, but I know the Dodgers have stacked rotations. Maeda going to the bullpen in LA doesn’t necessarily mean failing from the rotation.

    Not sure if you were referencing me. I’m not talking about league punishment, but, Marwin is only one of the two higher profile Astros playing for another team now, and if the P.R. surrounding this goes south, the Twins might wish to reconsider. Road games might get a little dicey with Marwin in the lineup. I agree, I don’t think Marwin is as good as people are giving him credit for here. That will factor into it. He was certainly an asset going into 2019. Maybe that’s the Marwin people are thinking of.

    I think the thread has stayed on track. Most posters are confident that Marwin is a lock to be on this team. I am not. And I’ll be honest—I watched three or four clips, and Marwin is definitely a part of this. What is to be done about it, is yet to be seen.

    I think a team friendly contract would make it easier to cut him—and that’s one thing I really like about this front office, its willingness to eat dead salary (so to speak).

    I doubt Marwin will be outright released, but I think the association with this Astros scandal makes it a much murkier question than others want to believe.

    Early on, I took a look and the first or second thing I saw was Marwin batting, in a fairly quiet stadium, I think it was Tanner Roark pitching, and right before the pitch *BANG*BANG* for curve ball. Marwin actually struck out on that pitch but it was clear as day. Didn't want to post anything when I first saw that but very, very unfortunate how implicated he seems to be in this.

    True, it has probably hurt Beltran, but I think Altuve can recover.

    Other than Marwin Gonzalez and Jake Marisnick (Mets), the rest of those players are still with the Astros or out of baseball (or not of much consequence). Three of them on that list wound up with the Mets. So yeah, developing story, and there might be something yet that needs to happen. Too soon to tell.

    The answer for Mike Parker is: none of the above. The answer for Mike Parker is to rip open that plastic wrapped, powder-blue promotional jersey he picked up at a Twins event 14 years ago, and has been sitting on his closet shelf since then. He almost opened it and wore it to Gluek’s for the 2017 Wild Card game, but for some reason he held back. He’s been holding back for a reason, but he didn’t know what. And now, with the Donaldson signing and a World Series in his sights, there will never be a better time. This is Mike Parker’s moment. But does the powder blue plastic-wrapped jersey have a name and number on the back of it? That would be embarrassing if not. Parker, on many occasions, has his dug fingers carefully into the plastic without opening the wrapping in an attempt to separate the folds of the jersey and see just enough if there’s a name and number lettered across the back. Lettering or no, I nevertheless think it’s a chance Parker has to take, and now is the time. Open the plastic, put on the jersey, and go. Also, I am Mike Parker.

    Couple points: When Tim Tschida was on KFAN recently, he said he thought it was suspicious when the catcher used a complicated sign sequence with no one on base. That is something someone could easily go back and look at, too, for patterns. Puckett said he didn’t want to know what pitch was coming, since he was probably swinging anyway, he said it was a distraction to him. The broadcasters in the Game 7 video were pretty open about the possibility the Twins were stealing signs illegally (or, by what we think of as illegal as of this Astros scandal. Broadcasters seemed like they were interested in intelligent discussion back then. At 19:28: “the ring finger is used for rings, not for throwing”
