  1. Are the Twinkies out of challenges? That's where you would use it, wouldn't you? It was close enough that you never know.
  2. Grossman! Where the heck did that top-of-the-wall power come from?
  3. for the record, I'm with the poster, it's the responsibility of the base coaches to GET THE RUNNERS ATTENTION

  5. Well then. For what it's worth to the discussion, the 2013 version of Danny Santana committed 32 errors in New Britain. Maybe this is a BBA issue.
  6. on that, I disagree with you. With the wild card it might only take a season with something like mid-80s wins to find yourself in contention. The Twins did that last year by accident. Although I agree I wouldn't necessarily call them a contender next year, but wild card should be the minimum goal every year for most teams.
  7. Polanco is (or was) a top organizational prospect behind Buxton and Sano, so benching him sounds like a terrible idea. Is Antony dictating to Molitor or is Molitor telling Antony this stuff? Because I also heard Antony say that when Plouffe comes back, Sano will be the guy being moved around again.
  8. Depends on who you ask? The folks already giving up on Sano are likely to be as quickly disappointed with Polanco, at least based on Seth's report of his errors. I don't mind if Polanco moves around but the only open position in the infield is shortstop, and it is wide open now with Nunez gone.
  9. If not WAR, what measure would you propose?
  10. I can't tell if Kintzler would be a good 9th inning guy over a full season. Despite his lack of velocity, I think he might have a year or two in him as a closer.
  11. I thought Sano and Arcia were the only ones who made errors. Oh wait, scored a hit
  12. I think this was the rainout game when it never actually rained..
  13. in Rochester this season: 22 singles, 11 walks, 2 hit-by-pitch, unknown number of reached by error, four stolen base attempts. That doesn't seem like much base stealing work for a guy with Buxton's speed and inexperience.
  14. Of course Mauer was twice the catcher and AJ will never get more than a single vote or two, if any. But it is an interesting contrast that we traded AJ for Mauer, Mauer went on to have a borderline-HOF career, and yet AJ caught almost twice as many games (guesstimating). I think the key word in Halsey's post was "chuckle". ... Which may or may not be to your taste in wry humor...
  15. was originally trying to make a joke about moving Mauer 7th in the batting order
  16. The fact that Antony has done essentially nothing in 9 going on 10 days is just head scratching. Not that I want him to make a splash, but I thought he would have made some moves of some kind. So I wonder what's up with that--does he have cold feet, does he have basically an identical picture of the team that Ryan did, is he privy to other information about who the next GM is going to be and doesn't want to disturb the cart (remember how some people pretty confidently claimed that Molitor was the only candidate to be the next manager). Either way, disappointing. Not even a Chargois call up yet.
  17. This Mauer thread is always second or third down on the forum list when I notice it. At this point I would be happy if the mods permanently pinned it 7th.
