I assume your strike zone and contact rate stats are the MLB stats? I'm not sure I want to see his minor league rate stats from last year. They are no doubt awful. So much to say about this guy. Platoon and stringer bell said it well, as did otwins, because I agree I just don't see what playing time Arcia gets other than as an occasional bench bat. Which is a shame because he can destroy right handed pitching. It's the one thing he does well, but best case, he can do it exceptionally well. By acquiring Park and Palka, on top of all the other guys striking out increasingly, the Twins can no longer cite strikeouts as a knock against Arcia. By planning to use Sano in the outfield, poor defense cannot be used against Arcia. Sure Arcia is emotional and excitable, but maturity comes with time. That's why I agree with your overall argument but disagree with your conclusion, as I think it's the burden of the Twins to capitalize on Arcia's single talent, rather than the opposite, of Arcia having to prove himself. He already has proved himself, in my opinion.
