    But I presume he was warming up before coming in, and then threw his warmup tosses when he entered the game, and his outing might have gone longer, so I think the poster makes a good point. But you are right he will be available tonight.

    With all due respect, this is a contradictory statement. I looked at his game logs. He has not run into any trouble. He has been the same weak contact ground ball machine in Washington that he was here. I would buy the FIP stat here if it was, say, 0.50, or something below 1. But his FIP with Washington is currently 2.85, so I can't buy it. I don't know which outing those two theoretical runs came from.

    Not sure if you're dissing me, or the stat If the point is to reflect a true ERA, then FIP should reflect the ERA, as it is, even in minimal amounts. Kintzler has not come remotely close to allowing a run to score (at least by reading the box score), yet FIP says that two runs should have scored off him by now.

    Kintzler update: Leaving aside the buy v. sell debate, Kintzler is 2-0, with a 0.00 ERA in 7 appearances with Washington. However, his FIP is 2.85 I half-way understand the concepts of BIP, sequencing, etc., but even in small samples shouldn't FIP at least nominally reflect ERA, or what is actually happening on the field? Carry on.

    It's second guessing but too bad Molitor didn't pinch run for Sano at some point last night for the purpose of getting his bat out of the lineup. I don't see anything wrong with that double play; Sano looked home but threw to first in the same motion. There was a millisecond delay but maybe Sano was just getting a good grip. The guy on the radio made it sound like Sano was frozen undecided about where to throw while runners circled the bases behind him. Wasted opportunity in the 9th, no doubt. Game felt over after that strikeout. Interesting call by Molitor Sunday to judge that Mauer needs a day off today more than Sano does. Also, what did Jason Castro say to Berrios on that trip to the mound in the first inning? The next pitch was the grand slam!
