  1. Aside from the rest of this fiasco, I do believe Berrios has the makeup of a future ace. Not to the level of the multiple-Cy Young winners like Kershaw or Scherzer, but certainly in some Cy Young conversations.
  2. McHugh might turn out ok, though not great, but there's no reason to offer anything of much value for McHugh after having passed on Gray and Cole, and therefore not much reason for Houston to begin a negotiation with the Twins to part with McHugh if Houston expects the Twins will offer little in return. Peacock isn't going anywhere that I can see, though I admit have no idea what Houston needs or how to evaluate that one.
  3. I can't wait for the Twins to offer Bryce Harper a 5/110 next offseason
  4. I thought I would wake up to the news that the Twins signed Cobb. He's the contingency, right? Is Cobb also refusing to offer the Twins a discount? Damn him!
  5. Yes. If you have followed this story from the beginning, then you should know that those big market teams were not making serious offers. They admitted as much.
  6. Thanks. Me too*. *just trying to cycle out some cynicism
  7. In hindsight now, do you think that offer would have gotten it done, with maybe a little creativity added in, such as an opt out and Cy Young Winner bonuses?
  8. That is probably true, as a matter of fact. And Bartolo Colon signed a minor league deal for 2018.
  9. On the other hand, Kepler is part of the chemistry of this team, and he could make a jump in how he hits lefties this year. As for Cobb, I just see him as the next best FA to Darvish. Lynn would not be a fit here except maybe a short 1-2 year deal and Arrieta is toast. Cobb is not a difference maker, no, but he would be 1 of our top 3 starters.
  10. It would seem a little desperate at this point to overpay in a trade, i.e., give up Kepler
  11. The Twins can still salvage their rotation woes. The whole Darvish thing feels like a con. 5/126 would have been a fair offer. Instead he signs for the same money but an additional year. How serious were they about signing him? I vote Cobb at 4/64 or a trade, but Orodizzi doesn't do mch for me; Archer does, but I'd really like to keep Kepler at this late point in the offseason with players reporting next week (or maybe already there)
  12. I'm thinking a Napoli contract is valued at one year, mid single digits, and I wonder if the Twins are prepared to offer that sixth year to Darvish. Getting him for five years would seem almost too good to be true.
  13. oh I am with you on that. But if that's the little extra it will take, you gotta do it.
  14. I think Duffey is a lock to start the season in the rotation now. He might surprise like he did in 2015.
  15. Boring offseason? Speak for yourself! Check this out!
  16. I always liked Vladimir Guerrero because he reminded me of Kirby Puckett - never saw a pitch he didn't like. Would swing at anything and hit it, too.
  17. Performance enhancing, they say?
  18. I know what you mean. I was there a couple years ago and it was hard moving around in some places even just by myself. But I don't see an alternative. Maybe a couple other places could work and they could get a few more people in, but then it kind of loses its magic. It is what it is.
