  1. I don't think anyone has the illusion that Vargas is the next Big Papi anymore, but I think Vargas would be an ideal bench player. To back up Mauer competently, and take some at bats occasionally. True, no position flexibility, but Fangraphs actually likes Vargas in the field, for what that's worth. Vargas is probably not on the team next year but he can still help this year more than the 8th relief guy.
  2. Next, you were going to say: "and if Aitch can't pitch, I would be willing to step in."
  3. I think I would rather have Kintzler back for August and September this season, than anything Tyler Watson might give us in the future. (No offense, Tyler.)
  4. This doesn't even get to how many strikes are wasted with foul bunts or the plate appearances that end in a different result after the sac bunt attempt is cancelled.
  5. Kintzler so far with the Nats: 4 appearances, 15 batters faced, 0 runs, 1 hit allowed, 2 wins
  6. Bravo Rosario. The nearest infielder was where, behind second? Shifting for Jason Castro with two outs. Managers get too cute sometimes.
  7. If he's been following the Twins, his bones have ground to dust by now
  8. Sarcasm here? Welcome to the dark side, Doc!
  9. It's a little of both (or a lot of both, in this case). The players collapsed by themselves just fine in late July, but a trade for a starter a little but sooner (Garcia?) would have preceded the collapse.
  10. What was close about that two strike pitch?
  11. What the Twins need this inning http://a.abcnews.com/images/Technology/GTY_swarm_of_bats_BE9805-001_jt_131124_16x9_992.jpg
  12. Other teams reliever stats: low numbers like zeros, ones, maybe a two here and there Our reliever stats: lots of sixes, eights, big numbers, double digit numbers, etc
  13. LOOGY sighting! It's a three run deficit that feels like a twelve run deficit, but still!!!!
  14. Gee says yes, he was getting a little tuckered in his first appearance
  15. Gee, this guy is suddenly getting clobbered
