  1. I think it's break-even if he plays 60% of the games.
  2. Seager and Correa will both top this number
  3. Odds that Pineda re-signs by the end of the week?
  4. $22M for an MVP season would be an absolute steal
  5. They're all easy choices to tender, especially since the contracts are only partially guaranteed. I expect the MLB minimum to go above $750,000 in the new CBA.
  6. Minaya will never reach his 4th arb year. He's barely on the roster now. I doubt he will be in the league at age 34. If he's still around he will probably have been cut at least once.
  7. Pitch clock. I'm really tired of watching baseball players stand on the field and do nothing. Next I'd add 1/8 ounce to the weight of the ball to reduce strikeouts and home runs.
  8. This is definitely due to the shift. 3B is getting more difficult and 2B less difficult. Donaldson has the athletic ability to be a decent first baseman.
  9. I like the idea of grabbing Gio Urshela from the Yankees to play SS. I think the Yankees will sign one of the big names. Urshela is good enough to play SS in 2022-23 for the reasons stated above. I disagree with the comment about catcher defense. With strikeouts and walks at all-time highs catcher framing has never been more important. Catchers are being selected for their ability to control the running game just like they have been for decades but now they are also selected for how well they frame.
  10. Sorry, I assumed that you were referring to the player actually on the roster, not the one we wish was on the roster instead.
  11. A rotation with Dobnak and Strotman in it will lose a lot of baseball games regardless of who is playing SS.
  12. That was his dad. Luis Tiant was born in 1940.
  13. Kepler would have to be hurt as well.
  14. Reminder that the CBA hasn't even set the MLB minimum for next season. $800,000 might be less than the new minimum.
  15. Signing Randy Dobnak to a long-term deal instead of Berrios is not exactly an argument in favor of this front office.
  16. Falvey could realize he's bad at his job. A rebuild gets him 5 more years of fat paychecks before someone else figures it out. Expectations are hard.
  17. Miguel Sano should be the full time DH. They aren't going to be able to trade him for diddly squat and he's a terrible defender.
  18. I think Pohlad genuinely wants to try to compete next year. I think Falvey wants to tear it down and start over. It's probably a good long-term move for Falvey. Trying to contend means higher expectations for 2022 and possible consequences if they fall short again. A rebuild lowers expectations for 3-5 years. Nobody gets fired in the middle of a rebuild.
  19. Buxton is not expensive for 2021. he's only looking at $7.5M in arbitration. There's $20M in excess value in one season of Byron Buxton. This front office looks really, really cheap. There is no reason to run the Twins like the A's and Rays. If they're going to run the team like this they really should hire Mike Veeck to be the GM. They'll need the county fair carnival atmosphere from the Saints to get people to buy a ticket.
  20. If he's good at learning from mistakes then the Twins will benefit. I imagine Tingler has spent the last month rehashing the Padres season trying to figure out how to do it differently if he did it over again. At least, I hope he has.
  21. Matz is a bad fit for Target Field. He's homer-prone to right handed pull hitters.
  22. That's a bargain price for Baez. Yes, please. I think they're wrong - he'll get $100M
  23. They've got to top Lorenzo Cain's 5 year $80M deal.
