  1. It's funny how the Twins are the only small market team that can't seem to afford free agents. It's even funnier still that the Twins aren't a small market team, but instead a mid-market team like Colorado, Detroit, St. Louis and Seattle.
  2. Eventually you run out of playing time in AAA. Right now the AAA outfield looks like Martin, Larnach and Thompson with Kiersey on the bench.
  3. Kiersey is older and has had less success in AAA
  4. Julien isn't the guy I'd pinch run for. He's not a bad baserunner. Jeffers, however...
  5. Not sure where he plays in St. Paul with Martin and Kiersey both likely to start the season there.

  7. Then they can tell their grandkids about all the great players they never voted for due to stupid, self-imposed rules.
  8. Great for Joe. It shows that treating people kindly can pay off in the long run.
  9. I'm hopeful that the Twins can get their TV broadcast situation figured out before the trade deadline.
  10. Sounds like I will be visiting the museum a different time and watching the ceremony on TV from my home like most years. I have a trip plan that I'd like to execute eventually that includes Cooperstown, Niagara Falls and the Corning Glass museum.
  11. Looks like the Angels are loading up in the same manner. I don't think they will be as hesitant to sell this summer.
  12. Lots of deals with opt outs. That will mean a lot of speculation at the trade deadline again for all of these players.
  13. Griffey Jr and Chipper Jones were also 1-1.
  14. Yeah, the people that don't vote for anyone don't really want people to know that publicly. It's not good to have the reputation as the party pooper.
  15. First Hall of Famer born in the 1980s and the first one younger than me.
  16. Mauer will be the youngest current Hall of Famer by a lot, the first one born in the 1980s.
  17. I think Mauer is signing early in the morning on Saturday at TwinsFest if you want to be the first one with a "Joe Mauer HOF 2024" signature on your memorabilia.
  18. There are several players I'd rather have than Aaron Hicks but you won't get any of them for the MLB minimum salary.
  19. The Dodgers adding Paxton means someone on their 40-man roster has to go. Time to call about Gus Varland.
  20. Joe Mauer is in the Hall of Fame is going to be the big news before Twins Fest this year.
  21. That shouldn't be a concern. The only reason the Twins would pay him $6M is if they want to give the Yankees salary relief. Instead the Twins would pay Hicks the league minimum salary and the Yankees would pay $10M.
  22. I grew up reading baseball biographies. It was pretty much a guarantee that a hall of famer would have a biography in the library. I can't imagine anyone writing an adult biography of Joe Mauer. It would be a terribly boring book. A children's book is a much better fit. Could be worse - Frank Thomas got a cookbook when he was inducted. The Big Hurt's Guide to BBQ and Grilling: Recipes from My Backyard to Yours: Thomas, Frank: 9781629372297: Amazon.com: Books
  23. You literally cannot pay someone less than Aaron Hicks. Do you want them to go with a 25 man roster and keep a spot open to save money?
  24. Only if they can get Clevinger at that price or they want to spend it on the bullpen. The cupboard is bare otherwise.
