  1. Culpepper was brought up to elevate the offense. Kreidler was hitting below .100 recently.
  2. That is an unreasonable expectation. He will make many more mistakes as he learns what it takes to play at the highest level.
  3. I still don’t understand what they are doing with Rojas. I thought they sent him down to stretch him out as a starter. I think there were games he threw more than 39 pitches in the MLB bullpen.
  4. The most likely players to need a pinch runner are Victor Caratini and Ryan Jeffers. Pinch running for either with Jackson and improving the defense is a solid bench move. The bench of Martin/Jackson/Kreidler is there to pinch run and improve the defense. The Twins biggest weakness is on defense.
  5. He doesn’t play defense well enough to make a roster as a RHB platoon caddy. Do you see any other teams carrying a RHB who only platoons at DH?
  6. How much leeway will the fans give Culpepper? If he is 0 for 10 this weekend I expect to see people here calling for Marek Houston.
  7. 370 career MLB plate appearances and he’s hitting .184. He’s only been able to hit .238 in AAA. I’m guessing he’s a .200 hitter, true talent. .200/.260/.340
  8. Kreidler’s new role is to wait until the 8th inning or someone gets injured. He should never be in the starting lineup.
  9. I also would have no issue cutting Rashi or Go from the 40-man roster.
  10. Isn’t Kyler Fedko out for the season? Put him on the 60 day IL
  11. I want the Twins to negotiate a long term contract with Jenkins before they promote him.
  12. Love the move, hate the timing. Seems like a no-confidence vote that Culpepper could win ROY next season.
  13. What you want is to bench Josh Bell, play Larnach at DH and put Jenkins in the lineup. For that to pay off, Jenkins has to immediately hit better than Josh Bell. I think that is an unreasonable expectation for any rookie. I mostly don’t understand the impatience. What is the huge rush to get the rookies up this weekend instead of waiting a week or two? Why are people pushing the panic button on a team that can barely play .500 baseball? Why waste Jenkins’ incredibly valuable service time on a desperate attempt to turn an 80 win team into an 82 win team?
  14. Jackson has been contributing. He might be their best defensive catcher. He can pinch run, has some defensive utility beyond catcher (1B and corner OF). Over the last two seasons and 170 PA he has hit .255/.308/.446. I know prospects are sexy, but a veteran bench player who doesn’t need everyday reps is ideal for the 13th player. There are only 9 spots in the lineup.
  15. When Buxton returns in a few days, the starting outfield is Larnach, Buxton and Keaschall. No room to break in a rookie.
  16. Wallner and Mendez play bad defense. The Twins really don’t need their defense to get worse. Roden is 3 for 8 with a double, 3 walks and no strikeouts over the last 5 games. That’s exactly what they want from him.
