  1. His “outfield mojo” of 83 MPH was well below average in the outfield. First and second base are the positions where arm matters the least.
  2. The average CF throws 90MPH, 87 MPH for LF. 83 MPH is still a weak arm for an outfielder. Trevor Larnach throws 83 MPH. Infield and outfield throws are different, which leads to different max velocities. Adam Frazier threw 80 MPH in the outfield last year but only 76 MPH at 2B. Addison Barger was 5 MPH slower at 3B than he was in RF. If he was clocked at 83 MPH in the outfield in high school, that doesn't mean he'll throw 83 MPH in the infield. You need to subtract 4-6 MPH for the difference in throwing mechanics. 78 MPH in the infield would be average for 2B.
  3. Do you mean Ryan Pressly? The fans get upset and project all sorts of emotions onto players.
  4. Not if they’re winning. If they’re winning the division they hold him. Trading him for a reliever makes the 2026 team worse. There aren’t any relievers worth as much as Jeffers.
  5. In the immediate near-term, someone has to come off the 40-man roster. Jackson, Outman and Julien are the most likely to leave unless they want to try to get Brujan or Kreidler through waivers now.
  6. I have that problem occasionally on my phone but rarely on the laptop.
  7. Trading Jeffers for a reliever sounds like a terrible idea. He's in his final year of arbitration, which means he's getting paid near market value. As we get closer to the trade deadline, his remaining salary will be lower. It's also possible (likely?) one of the MLB catchers on a contending team gets injured. Jeffers becomes more valuable if that opportunity arises. I am a little sad that the Caratini deal closes the door on a Ryan Jeffers extension. The front office really blew it not extending him after the 2024 season. This team absolutely has to offer contract extensions to their home-grown players if they want to compete. They can't spend two years developing a player only to get two or three prime years before they're forced to sell when they run out of team control.
  8. Do they need righties? They have Buxton, Lewis, Jeffers, Martin and Keaschall. Caratini, Lee and Bell switch-hit. That's 8 RHB in the line up against lefties.
  9. Caratini and Jeffers should be able to equally share the catching duties. Against LHP it would be great to have Caratini at 1B and Jeffers behind the plate. Jeffers can get his days off against tough RHP with Caratini catching and Kody Clemens at 1B.
  10. MLB Trade Rumors reporting that Tampa is interested in improving their catching.
  11. They have enough starting pitchers on the depth chart to fill the MLB rotation, the Saints rotation AND part of the rotation at Wichita. Some of them NEED to move to the bullpen, which is mostly empty of talent. Ryan, Lopez, Ober, Bradley, Woods-Richardson Matthews, Festa, Abel, Prielipp, Morris Rojas, Raya, Culpepper, Klein
  12. No, he's dismissed out of hand, because why would the Twins play their best prospects when they can block them with veteran minor leaguers like Kyler Fedko and James Outman.
  13. Where is Emmanuel Rodriguez? He’s far more likely to debut than Fedko. I disagree that he’s crowded out by guys like Roden and Outman.
  14. A team that was really interested in obtaining a catcher could have signed JT Realmuto. He only received 3 years, $45M from the Phillies. Who is looking for a catcher? Boston, Pittsburgh, Texas and San Diego were rumored to have interest in Realmuto. Boston has Narvaez so they should be okay. Pittsburgh spent their $$ on Lowe and O'Hearn. Texas signed Danny Jansen. That leaves San Diego as the only likely suitor. What kind of return do you think the Twins would get with only San Diego looking for a catcher? There are stopgaps still available in free agency - Jonah Heim, Gary Sanchez, Reese McGuire. After Bellinger signs with the Yankees or Mets next week, there won't be any good LHB OF remaining. I am guessing a team would rather acquire Larnach than Tauchman, Winker or Conforto. Larnach is making $4.5M vs Caratini at $7M. If they shed Larnach's salary, payroll goes down to just over $100M.
  15. Clemens can play defense. The Twins have several DH candidates. Larnach is the best one to move, teams are looking for outfielders.
  16. I'd be happy if the move is trading Trevor Larnach to get rid of a DH.
  17. Victor Caratini could be an interesting platoon partner for Kody Clemens at first base.
  18. Billy Amick should be on the list. He's like the only 1B prospect in the entire system.
  19. MLB is incredibly profitable. The Rockies are one of the more profitable teams.
  20. The Twins do have a couple spots open and I fully expect them to grab a couple free agents who will be happy to have a spot on an MLB roster instead of getting an NRI. That's not really a plan to compete.
  21. True. How does he compare to past Twins lefties like Glen Perkins, Taylor Rogers and Eddie Guardado?
  22. I will contradict my previous comments just to state that there is one benefit to signing a good relief pitcher - they're really tradeable at the deadline. If they give the money to Seranthony Dominguez they will have no trouble selling his contract in July.
  23. I don't blame them at all for not paying retail prices for relief pitchers. It is the worst value for the money of anything you can buy on the free agent market. There are bigger holes on the roster that would be a better value to fill by free agency.
