  1. I do have one argument with the OP. If the Gallo reclamation project is viewed as a failure, was the author’s expectations set too high? Why would Gallo’s career average be seen as a failure?
  2. Joey Gallo’s (much like Max Kepler) calling card was also a plus fielding corner outfielder. Both Gallo and Kepler have been very average at best in the outfield. Gallo has -1 OAA in both RF and LF, with a hot start, he’s hitting his career average on the season. See if they can trade him and Kepler for anything leading up to the deadline, and then DFA them both. it might get worse with Larnach and Wallner in the outfield, but not much, and at least then they’re developing future players instead of giving innings to past their prime vets.
  3. I thought it was going to be Headrick after he defecated all over the pitcher’s mound on Tuesday night.
  4. Lewis is 100% in my wishlist to start for the Twins in ‘24. If Correa isn’t the SS anymore, I’d rather see Lewis at short than center. If CC is still the SS, then CF it is :)
  5. With Lewis in the discussion, the status of Buxton and Correa both seem relevant. Is Buxton still a CF? Is Correa still the SS we thought we were getting? Is he significantly better than Lewis? The clock is ticking on his move to 3B, and his OOA last year and this year points to a sooner than later move. as with other posters, I’d like to see what they have in Celestino/Martin or if Correa is still the SS, Lewis and use the off-season to address if they don’t see enough from the internal options
  6. Deletes draft Tweet “Buck-up Byron Buttercup” sigh…
  7. https://theathletic.com/4298453/2023/03/13/twins-carlos-correa-david-popkins/ If Popkins turned Correa’s season around last year as the linked article maintains, why is Popkins the cause of Correa’s issues this year? Re Kepler: wRC+ (or OPS+, they are very similar) his career is 100, exactly league average. This year is 87, 13 percentage points less than his career, 8 percentage points lower than his career median. His previous low was 93, and previous career was 101. He’s having a bad year, but he’s had 8 percentage point swings in wRC+ before. Approach is absolutely on the table as an issue. Does Popkins choose the approach? Does Falvey/Levine? I’d lean towards the latter considering they’re the ones signing hitters and coaches. If Popkins were fired, what kind of hitting coach will Falvine hire? Would Buxton stop being a dead pull hitter because the Twins fired Popkins? Baldelli, Popkins, fire them all, I don’t really care and they don’t exactly inspire confidence from me. Who are Falvey and Levine going to hire to replace them? Likely very similar coaches, because they have a type.
  8. About the time it took me to respond to that joke
  9. According to AZPhil, they need an official diagnosis from the team Dr. It doesn’t specify that the player agree. My take then is: they can’t Il Buck because he’s bad, but if he is injured, they can IL him against his wishes.
  10. Gallo is at career average, Kepler is close, they just aren’t very good. Buxton is injured, but might also need some improved coaching, and Pop was credited with fixing Correa last year, but is now the cause of Correa’s woes now? im not saying Popkins doesn’t need to be replaced, but I don’t think he’s as big of an impact as others. I don’t think coaching changes will be effective until the Fo changes.
  11. We are in alignment, and exactly the direction I was going too.
  12. Strikes out 30%, if he gets 5 plate appearances that’s running to first 3.5 times per game. He has a 30% OBP so in those 5 plate appearances he reaches 1.5 times per game.
  13. I like this plan. While it’s technically “selling” it’s not exactly punting 2023 for 2024. Thielbar would be missed pretty badly, but churning some AAA pitchers through the pen could develop quality relievers pretty quickly. Polanco hasn’t been available, and the rest is addition by subtraction. also agree with 60-day-ing Buck. It’s not just a streaky slump. He’s clearly hurt.
  14. Also on the seafood menu Seasalt at Minnehaha park, hike the falls, enjoy the outdoors
  15. I do not recommend eating rally goat, far more effective alive…. then again, maybe it’s time to change my moniker given the current state of the team
  16. The Jucy Lucy debate still persists. I suggest you decide for yourself at the two self-proclaimed inventors Matt’s Bar and the 5-8 Club. Also one of my favorites Pizzeria Lola.
  17. I’m a believer in the run creation stats, but I’m with you. I’m frustrated with this team’s inability to avoid outs.
  18. How long is the list of pitchers who were good enough to be in the bigs, but aren’t workhorses?
  19. Sonny Gray also isn’t a workhorse anymore and Louie Varland pitched the most innings he’s ever pitched last year at 130. i’d rather have a 6 man rotation for a 6 weeks or so to give the rotation breather than artificial short starts
  20. I was with you on time to give up on Lopez… then I was think “bridge too far”… however, he’s been awful for a month and doesn’t exactly have a long track record of success. you might be right, it might be time to cut bait on Lopez, but they need to DFA Pagan first.
