  1. According to the Twins site Park will have season ending wrist surgery. http://m.twins.mlb.com/news/article/197446712/twins-byungho-park-to-have-wrist-surgery/ Kind of a relief, kind of frustrating seeing another prolonged minor day to day injury turn out to be not minor nor day to day.
  2. Seth made the argument that we shouldn't really compare Mauer to catchers in the hall, but then rattled off the list of catchers in the hall. It's only natural because catchers are unique to all position players. Just look at all the safety equipment. Even pitchers don't get that and they have the ball hit at them on purpose at 60'6" If Joe can pull off a late career surge and earn a year or two extension, I think he can get in.
  3. i had that baseball dartboard, it was double sided and the baseball side was just as fun as the traditional cricket
  4. Sorry, kinda criptic what I'm getting at is Molitor knows that he may not have the level of security promised in the media. We all need to produce results. Moli knows this and knows he needs to be as competitive as he can in 2016 and find out what the team needs to know about the prospects for 2017 and help them develop in 2016 to make a better future. He's been quoted as such. If Antony brings up Garver and tells Molitor to find out what they have in him, he'll do it. He understands that just cuz he has a job for next year right now, doesn't mean he'll have one for next year tomorrow. That never changed when TR was with the Twins or RA or what Pohlad tells the media. To expand... What may have changed in terms of how Moli plays rookies in the RA era is RA doesn't necessarily have to win to take the interim tag off. TR on the other hand had to win more to keep his job, and they didn't, so he didn't. With RA in a position now to manage the team like he would if his job weren't on the line, we might be seeing Moli getting direction with a little longer point of view. Moli might be getting direction from RA with a more developmental emphasis.
  5. well... TR had a job for life... Just saying security isn't what it used to be. I'm not sure what's out there, but seeing what Lucroy went for, the quality of the current lineup, and the interest in Zukes, I don't see a world changing hitter in the cards for the Twins
  6. is there a Mike Trout in that list? Mauer is by far the best on that list, but stopped being remotely close the day he was diagnosed w/ concussion. Now he's a real good player but not elite. Is he a "problem"? No, but this is a crappy team filled with average at best veterans. Plouffe, Dozier, are never going to move the needle when this team has so many pitching holes
  7. 48 hours until he clears, so Tuesday pm I believe
  8. I get wanting your 26th man to be up and down, but I don't get using a guy for 26 you have to add to the 40 man that you don't intend to keep in the 40 man but don't want to risk losing.
  9. dont they have 38(39 w/ Albers) on the 40?
  10. but it depends right? Sometimes vets speak up on their own and it causes more harm than good. Sometimes a vet says exactly what the rookie needs to hear and if backfires. I'm not entirely against OJT w/ the mentors, but I'm also not 100% for if either.
  11. How have you come to this conclusion? Or is this a should statement disguised as a prediction?
  12. yeah, I might be guilty. I guess I would say Plouffe isn't worth as much to the Twins as his assumed Arb salary says he should be.
  13. this is a lot better than "Ef-it, just blow the whole thing up and start over." Which was a legit statement on July 1. However I'm with you on the status of Pitching, especially starting. Outside of Berrios they got nothing with upside for two more years.
  14. Agreed, Sano had no business in the OF. That's my point w/ Plouffe. Twins don't have to tender him. They come up with the "Hypothetically Trevor, if we offered 2 years 10 mil, would you take it" and if/when he says no, they'll just non-tender him and let him walk.
  15. yep, I'd rather he struck out on pitches he can't do something with than hit into a ton of double plays.
  16. im not certain athleticism is the cause for his ineptitude in the outfield. It seems like Inexperience and rust continues to plague his defensive quality. That being said, there's much better outfield options available that I'm not willing to be patient with his outfield reps. Not many third base options in-house. I don't think Plouffe will want to sign w/ the Twins for what they'll try to sign him for. They've got Sano, so no biggie if they can't sign Plouffe to a team friendly deal outside of arbitration So they can and should be patient w/ Sano at 3b
  17. indeed they do, as posted earlier, but Joe might waive his 10/5 right
  18. if you're playing the game, do you gamble that RA would let Joe go for nothing?
  19. I found this really helpful http://chicagocubsonline.com/major-league-baseball-transactions-glossary A player with 10/5 rights may be put on August trade waivers, but has to be pulled back if the no trade agreement isn't waived by the player
  20. I struggle with Plouffe's value. I have a hard time believing Plouffe wasn't shopped hard core last offseason. If he was, what does that say about his value? I don't like Polanco's bat at third. I think he could field the position (SS too for that matter) but he won't get enough power to be a league average third baseman.
  21. if they are seriously thinking about sending him down now, then yes the option needs to be saved for next year.
  22. its clear he doesn't like it
  23. your right demand goes up, but supply goes up even more. Deadline is much further out and the alternatives are immense.
  24. he certainly won't get tendered for next year, will he?
  25. yep Gleeman predicted it last year. Something to the effect of "May has started his last game for the twins"
