  1. but how will you find a hr derby pitchers that doesn’t throw a strike?
  2. Seems like a kosher move, but unlikely. I bet it’s Littell https://www.mlb.com/twins/news/zack-littell-likely-to-debut-tuesday/c-279611770
  3. it doesn’t hurt to dream, and with the potential of both Dozier and Mauer (and Escobar) departing in the offseason, plenty of room
  4. after last offseason, and the bigger fish available this upcoming, I’m not so sure Esco will get 12-15 per, nor am I sure Dozier will get more. I think Dozier might get an extra year, but I think both could be 8-10 mil per year
  5. hes good at charging in on a ball. His lateral movement is a bit limited. He’s fine fielding wise, so if he can reach his potential hitting, he’ll be a monster.
  6. Lots of comps of Rosario to Pucket, and I’m a fan. I wondered if he turned the corner last year and I feel pretty confident HE DID! Eddie! Eddie! Eddie!
  7. if they do, I think you could make a case for a GoFundMe to get sponsorship to go to more games
  8. its true that more concussions you get, the easier it is to get them. Agreed that there is a threshold that “should” have the decision made for him. I don’t know that it “will” be made for him. He came back from the last one well past the month of symptoms threshold. His symptoms have been persisting a month currently and the talk is to bring him back. I think (I dont know) that the decision is his to make. It probably should be his to make for as long as he’s under contract and he passes medical evaluations. If I were in his shoes I like to think that I’d hang it up, but then it’s easy for me to say that from here. If I were in Falvine’s shoes, I don’t think I’d re-sign Joe, for health reasons.
  9. Maija Varda has a really good blog post re: Joe’s health https://www.twinkietown.com/2018/6/2/17417492/what-does-the-return-of-joe-mauer-concussion-symptoms-mean-for-his-future-minnesota-twins-mlb
  10. my dad has a pellet smoker, it’s awesome for large slabs, roasts, ribs. The temperature consistency is amazing. For small cuts and poultry I prefer my charcoal. It has a fire box and cast iron grate, so you can apply direct and indirect heat. Works great with chips
  11. me too! Thanks for offering the opportunity to utilize
  12. the outcome was good, the decision is still dubious at best
  13. Scored 7 runs or more, 4 of the last 5 games. Sano has knocked in 10 of 32 runs scored, with Dozier crossing the plate 8 times. Escobar and Rosario have been the other major contributors to the scoring improvement lately. Looks like 3-4-5 should be Sano, Rosario, Escobar (order tbd)... another hitter to be on base at the top of the order and Grossman at the bottom would improve further. Looks like they miss Mauer, but maybe Kepler and his 330 obp in the lead off or second spot could improve further...
  14. hes a human being, I couldn’t begin to predict how he would react. I have no idea how to begin to research the frequency of a rental player getting traded then extended in season, but my hunch would be first time free agents would be the overwhelming majority of them. Escobar has youth, flexibility and productivity. All valuable, much like the Nunez trade. This is the point... there are no certainties, but if you’d like to have him next year and you think you can resign/extend, best not to change any of the contract variables outside of extend him now. People react to stability far more positively than they do to instability.
  15. you say that like he couldn’t possibly get his feelings hurt, or the GM of the team he gets traded to would never try to extend him during the season
  16. Mauer gone too.... I’d plan on Sano being your first baseman and Escobar being your third baseman or backup plan to Gordon/Polanco in the SS/2b tandem. I’m kinda disappointed Escobar isn’t already extended...
  17. broken toes take a very long time to heal. Last time I broke toes it took 6 months before I walked without a limp. Nothing to do about it, but try to minimize aggravating movements. I didn’t take any time off of work, and at the time, I walk 20,000 to 30,000 steps per work day. It was painful, I can’t imagine what it’s been like for Buck...
  18. I feel really bad for Joe. By accounts he’s an extremely competitive guy. This must be really difficult to go through again and not be able to help his team right the ship. I hope Joe makes decisions for his health primarily and an over abundance of caution is taken in regards to his brain injury. If health allows, I look forward to seeing him back in the lineup, but if it doesn’t, I hope he takes care of his health first. It’s just a game, and he has plenty of money.
  19. https://www.mlb.com/news/byron-buxton-back-to-the-dl-with-toe-issue/c-279028292 From the article Mauer likely to return this weekend The news was better on first baseman Joe Mauer, who has continued to participate in full baseball activities without any issues over the past five days after being placed on the DL on May 2 with a cervical neck strain and concussion-like symptoms. There was some optimism he could return as soon as Thursday's series opener against the Indians, but Molitor said it's more likely to happen later in the series. "Joe's still doing well," Molitor said. "He had another good day today. We'll get another chance to talk more extensively tomorrow than we have from the road. I'm still hopeful it'll be sometime this weekend."
  20. its a heck of a lot easier to fire and replace a manager than it is to replace a whole 40 man roster. Looking at the results of the last 3 years and the contract situation/payroll for next year... it might be both in 19
  21. https://www.mlb.com/news/byron-buxton-back-to-the-dl-with-toe-issue/c-279028292 Noted here Man that’s disappointing!
  22. https://www.mlb.com/news/byron-buxton-back-to-the-dl-with-toe-issue/c-279028292 More Buck quotes in the MLB.com article. He articulates his mechanical issues well. Oh and Erv had another setback too...
