  1. i have received one thank you card and one birthday card per year as the only cursive correspondence I have received for several years. Handwritten post it notes in my office are frequent and all printed
  2. Tigers and Royals pitching might provide a similar stat padding
  3. 6 outfielders (if you count Grossman as OF) is excessive. Cave as a lefty should have his bag packed.
  4. is there a site/table/conversion chart or something to adjust between leagues? Did you calculate yourself?
  5. Girl: oooh! That’s gonna leave a mark Guy: hehe.... I like nachos....
  6. That was a reassuring performance by LL. One walk, one hbp sure helps my confidence that Lynn is able to make the adjustments to get the ball over the plate effectively (not get hammered)
  7. Seems not unlikely that the Twins were no longer able to recoup any of his salary via insurance. Per the reference, not sure validity but it’s written wel... Policies generally have 3 year periods, not necessarily the whole contract. If this is the case, if an insurance policy was taken out on Hughes’ contract, it would have come due by now. After two TOS surgeries no way is any insurer covering him further. https://metsmerizedonline.com/2013/02/understanding-the-business-of-baseball-insurance-on-player-contracts.html/
  8. this, Phil’s a stand up guy who earned his money. I’m glad he got it, because it would have just lined JPs pocket otherwise. Glad Falvine has the courage to part ways. I’m sure these have been difficult conversations with Pohlad and Hughes.
  9. yup, and Sano spends the majority of the rest of his ‘18 season at first. LoMo and Joe can wrestle for DH at bats (fo sho)
  10. they are a game and a half back of Cleveland. No team in the central is over .500. Twins can absolutely turn it around.
  11. Well, summer vacation could be a little shorter... The point of cursive was things have changed. You emphasized that well. Computer science is critical and needs to be taught in grammar school. I do agree with the OP that composition is important. We shouldn’t let spell check assume our intent. I just accept and live with the fact that people have different ways of getting that done.
  12. you forgot the bullpen. Really shallow, and no one true ‘fireman’. Reed is close. All in all, the whole bullpen lets way too many inherited runners score.
  13. Some kids don’t even learn cursive anymore. It’s the world we live in. Spelling errors are a way of life. As important as effective and unambiguous written and verbal communication is in the work place and interpersonally, our society doesn’t value it. Crap, I’ve utilized predictive text over 90% of this post. Personally, I value the insight that the data and posters bring and common acronyms carry that heavy lifting for us. As much as I agree with the OP in the value of effective communication, I’m not willing to die on this hill. I understand and accept that with a diversity of backgrounds comes a wide range of communication styles and skill levels. I value those varied opinions and accept that they get conveyed in ways that are less effective at times.
  14. for a reliever, 100 game pitches over 8 innings also comes with warming up in the bullpen and sitting back down
  15. DL or not, there’s room to improve over the production Mauer has provided.
  16. My first reaction was, naw he’s too rusty. Then I stewed on it for a while, and came back and read the comments and found myself disagreeing with all of the dissenting opinions(my initial take) and agreeing with the assenters. At the beginning of the season I wondered how Molitor was going to balance all of the first base/DH types. That is not an issue is it? Mauer has been ok, but not exactly a guy you can’t live without. Morrison has improved ( low bar) but not good in any way. The team needs Sano at DH and first base. Let the guy get a few games in at DH, get some reps in fielding drills/bp at first. In 5 games or so get him some games at first. DFA Grossman to clear the spot for Sano. Send Adrianza to AAA when Mauer comes back, which may be 10 days, but the way this season has gone, longer is a distinct possibility.
  17. https://www.mlb.com/news/joe-mauer-placed-on-disabled-list/c-277417504 Nick err Jake Cave up
  18. https://www.mlb.com/news/joe-mauer-placed-on-disabled-list/c-277417504 Going to the DL
  19. yup, a good fielding first baseman vs a league average fielding first baseman saves you a few runs per year. Gotta mash to play first
  20. does the DH have to be for your pitcher? I think it does
  21. but Magill has been OK. How about Hughes, go throw till your arm falls off, then hit the 60 day
  22. when the TD militia invades, please leave my house intact. Please? I’ve been providing advanced reconnaissance for years.... Please?
  23. with the catching, third base and short stop situations as they are, Falvine can not afford to thin the bench any further. Any rotation changes needs to be done at the expense of the bullpen. Hughes has not been utilized in any way that relieves pressure from the pen and can’t be trusted to hold a lead. If an injury doesn’t surface on the pitching staff, and the JP doesn’t give the OK to release Hughes, that bullpen will get stretched very thin.
  24. Yet again, great work Heezy1323
