  1. not resign manager of the year and St Paul native Paul Molitor? Is that realistic?
  2. i guess in “the buck stops here” sort of way, but not in the “roles and responsibilities” way. FO can coach and provide all the data and suggestions but if they start dictating to Molitor how to perform his role, it makes it pretty difficult to recruit the next manager. Using a LOOGY as a LOOGY is on the manager.
  3. i agree with you generally, however...The FO improved the team by acquiring these players. Duke is being misused. He should still be good against lefties Lynn is way better than Hughes. It’s still early, he can rebound, or one of the many reinforcements that aren’t quite ready yet can take over. It’s a one year deal. You could be right on Rodney, but this seems to be his MO. He’s been effective over his career with this odd approach. Im not sure how much more of this I can take. I’m torn...
  4. With Buck scratched due to migraine it’d be nice to have LaMarres glove...
  5. im not exactly “up in arms” over LaMarre, but I am confused why Moya wasn’t demoted. If he’s not going to pitch, what’s the point? Now if he is going to pitch by necessity, I guess there’s a virus going through the bullpen, then I get the need for a 13th pitcher
  6. true, but the bar is higher for first basemen. Joe playing catcher is historic. Joe playing first base is excellent, but not HOF. At what point does the scale tip?
  7. agreed, too many catcher miles on his legs to reach 3k hits. Does 2600 or so get him into the Hall? 3 more years would put him less than 50% catcher for his career, which seems to be the threshold for catcher credentials
  8. There are several options besides Hughes for 5th starter, and assumptions by media that this may be a move for an extra reliever. All the Hughes angst might be for naught. this has been brought up several times... it depends on how well he gets into game shape, but spring training for pitchers is 6 weeks and those guys show up able to throw a ball. 6 weeks from when he was given clearance to throw would be roughly Memorial Day. 8 weeks retroactive would be June 1. One bad start by Hughes seems to me to be a bad reason to not 60 day DL Santana Odds of Santana being in game shape in 6 weeks from clearance seems low to me. I think best case might be Lynn’s first outing on 4-5 weeks of spring training, and worst case might be risk of further injury by rushing him. All conjecture; 60 day DL seems prudent. I’d rather he got healthy and in game shape without the pressure. Mejia is a good option to take that start or two if needed. Not as good as a healthy Santana, but we don’t know when Santana will be healthy and game shape.
  9. Great choice of words to describe a Joe Mauer Milestone. “Neat”!
  10. hi Tom, is my phone being goofy, or is the bullpen chart missing from your article?
  11. http://mlb.com/r/article?ymd=20180409&content_id=271485158&vkey=news_min&c_id=min Hughes “in the mix” for 5th starter. Like somehow he’s earning something or what? Odd that it doesn’t even really sound like he’s injured
  12. pitchers and catchers reported feb 15 for March 31 opener. 6 weeks and those guys were ready to throw a baseball. Lynn was 2 weeks late, but 5th starter. He got 5 weeks-ish... didn’t look so ready. Memorial Day is looking unlikely. And first week of June seems in doubt...
  13. he’ll need to improve the Bb side of the k/Bb ratio in order to sustain, but he was immensely better than this time last year.Great to see
  14. It looks like Gibby worked in the 4 seamer pretty heavy last night. Did anyone find a screen cap of his position relative to the rubber?
  15. I followed this one when I replaced my control panel. It worked pretty well, but some of the screw placements were different.

  17. Claim Thompson? https://mobile.twitter.com/Dodgers/status/978739419774464002
  18. Lamarre or RH OF bat waiver claim?
  19. The point is wild-eyed optimism of which the OP oozes in every word of their post. You questioned the validity of their point, I provided the article they referenced. Point is... we’re close to opening day, let’s get excited. Parsing semantics, range is not a measurement of speed. Many things go into range including speed. As we’ve all seen Buck, Kepler and Rosario take circuitous routes to the ball, their range is hindered by their limited experience. With another year and new coaches, that should improve. I’m feeling optimistic!

  21. Adrianza, Garver, and Morrison are all emergency outfielders. Grossman is almost emergency at this point. If Granite is hurt, you gotta have somebody... Agreed on middle infield, they are thin there too, but at least Adrianza is a pretty good SS. Two bat only guys on the bench could bite them.
