  1. mod note: Let’s keep it to OP.
  2. I dont know, it’s an assumption. I also saw in Trevor Bauer’s YouTube channel that the union is negotiating for the players to get paid. A bit further down the thread, I advocated for the games to count if the players get paid for missed games.
  3. peanuts the only thing left on the shelf at BJs?
  4. but it’s not based on 162 game season. If it were he wouldn’t have started his penalty immediately because there weren’t 162 games or even 60 games left of the season. if the players union gets the players their game checks for missed games in 2020, then the missed games should count against Pineda’s suspension. Pineda shouldn’t have to pay the monetary penalty twice.
  5. Bauer has some interesting stuff. His YouTube channel. Seems very earnestly concerned about the hourly ballpark people getting paid, hence the sandlot game as a charitable event to support the hourly workers. Good work Trevor!
  6. in the strike shortened season of 95, the players didn’t get paid for the 18 games missed. Neither will the players get paid for missed games this year due to Covid19. Why should Pineda get even partial credit when the other players won’t get paid at all? His suspension was 60 games with 39 games remaining, not 37% of a season with 24% remaining.
  7. agreed, these young men are more than just good ball players and pretty smiles. I really like the ‘get to know ‘em’ articles and it would be great to see more of them as time goes by. Usually they are prospect articles. It would be nice to get a then and now perspective.
  8. Mod note: keep it to the OP in a light hearted post about the players
  9. 3 solid seasons of nothing but “Caaaarrrl!” I mean I watch tv to escape reality, not relive my own personal hell of repeating my children’s names over and over again... Justified was absolutely fantastic, beginning to end. I’m just getting into Counterpart. Too early to vouch, but it’s starting well. JK Simmons is awesome
  10. I dunno, La Tortuga really looks like a Tortuga... But Dobnak absolutely deserves to be higher ranked. For reference: https://www.fox9.com/video/655771 I believe JP wouldn’t spring for a pro photographer so DSP took everyone’s picture with his iPhone 7.
  11. if they hadn’t suspended trading this morning your option would have enacted. It may yet later today... close to $30 loss in 19 days
  12. my company has Microsoft Teams... so MSFT might be a good one too My kids elementary school just floated doing school via zoom because of that stupid a-hole from Osceola.... Zoom/slack and funeral homes look like good buys. Too bad I don’t have more cash on hand right now...
  13. looking at the proximity of which athletes are held in, I don’t see how fan-free games are a solution for game play. Fan-free baseball is the best public health measure (so we can all watch from our bunkers) but the proximity to which the players locker/dress, there’s no way to protect the players from each other, unless you quarantine two teams inside a baseball field and never move. Subjecting 26 players to airports 80 times dooms them to the virus. One player in the clubhouse....
  14. I’m waiting for my employee stock options to recalibrate at month end and then start exercising. I need to hold on to my cash for a while...
  15. Very good OP! Agreed, Buxton is critical for this 2020 season. If he could get into the first standard of deviation on fastball whiff rate, that would be icing on the cake!
  16. how often do you hear of the underling or book keeper getting a slap on the wrist so that they will provide information that convicts the mafia crime boss? At least I see it in the movies... there’s gotta be something there. Look, if you want to adjudicate this as a fan, stop buying tickets. Stop clicking web pages. Separate yourself from Major League Baseball. I’m not happy about what happened with the team. The MLB should have blown that up. The players were absolutely complicit in that, but “took the plea deal”. It’s not the players fault that the jury was rigged. I’m willing to give MLB another shot, even with the stain.
  17. I think Chacon would have to show something in the way of ability to regain said form for him to get the nod over Dobnak
  18. With the volatility of the market, that’s a nice value. A cruddy week for the Dow based on all this Coronavirus fear could drop it in your option range.
  19. This article puts a pretty good estimate on your revenue question of the masks to 3M. https://investorplace.com/2020/03/buy-mmm-stock-not-coronavirus/
  20. maybe a little. I mean this is a big deal and I’m mad at him too, but jeez... if you’re gonna ban everyone who breaks the rules of a competitive sport, your gonna run out of players. I bet there was some difficult conversations in that clubhouse. But when they’re done ya gotta move on (from a clubhouse/player perspective) That’s not to say I’d extend Marwin. I wouldn’t. Poor judgement plus declining play is not a recipe for extension. As players like Gordon or Blankenhorn start to push for big league playing time, it’ll be at the expense of Marwin. But I wouldn’t eat the last year of his contract out of spite.
  21. Comps are a nice way to relate to a player and put some context to their projections. Oh and Cruz comps to Joe Adcock and Roy Sievers. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/cruzne02.shtml
