  1. No chance he's getting $35 million this offseason. I hope he listens to an extension offer from the Twins
  2. This article is pointless without any proposed alternatives. Who were realistic SP or reliever targets the Twins did not sign but should have?
  3. It's Royce Lewis and it always has been. Seeing so many people put Austin Martin above him preseason was so weird
  4. I was at the game on Tuesday. It was not fun getting to the parking ramp. There were quite a few people there well over an hour before first pitch. It would be nice if they could figure something out with traffic and getting to the parking ramps around the field. It was a fun atmosphere. It's nice to see that many people in the seats. I'd prefer if it wasn't the other team's fans filling the stadium though.
  5. I feel like there is more to the story for Fernando Romero than just visa issues. This isn't based off of anything. Seems weird to me to give up on a career in MLB from that. It's not like there aren't hundreds and hundreds of international players playing in the minors/majors.
  6. We need 2-3 relievers and 1-2 SP before even considering catcher. At this point Jeffers/Sanchez put up similar, or has been shown in previous comments potentially slightly better, offensive production than catchers around the league. Unless we're trading for Yadi Molina, which isn't happening, I'm not convinced there would be a noticeable upgrade in defense at the position. The fact that either of these two guys have ever been in the lineup as DH is a much bigger concern.
  7. Without getting into hyperbole, if Cam Collier is there at 8 and the Twins don't draft him I'd have a stroke
  8. I’m not sure why he is being written off so quickly by so many people. Sano at his best is a better hitter than anyone on the roster. We can’t pretend there is no room for him when the DH for 3 of the Cleveland games was Kyle Garlick or Gary Sánchez. The problem is we haven’t seen his best often enough recently. Let’s at least see how his rehab assignment goes. There’s zero reason to write him off beforehand.
  9. I was at the Saints game last night. I was surprised to see Schulfer hitting 99. With that said, I really hope the radar gun there isn't hot. If that's true then Balazovic was sitting 90-92 with his fastball. He looked terrible last night to put it nicely.
  10. Any solution that isn't keeping him with the Twins is a failure
  11. Anyone have anything on Michael Helman? He put together a solid season last year at A+. Now so far this season he is putting up pretty good numbers across AA/AAA. The Twins had him play in the Arizona Fall League after last year too. I would think that would mean the Twins have a positive opinion about him.
  12. Drew Strotman has had 2 scoreless outings in 15 appearances, 3 if you count the outing on April 23rd when an unearned run scored. This is after having a 7.33 ERA in 54 IP last season for St. Paul. What in the world is going on?
  13. I'm hoping for the best, but I don't see how Kirilloff goes from "I was never pain free after the surgery" to being fine in two weeks.
  14. Why was Canterino taken out of the game after the 3rd inning? Did he throw a lot of pitches that inning?
  15. There is just no way the Twins would have come to a different conclusion. Hindsight is pointless in this situation. That 2021 season you are touting as "one of the best seasons of his career" for Cron, he put up a 131 OPS+. Very good, still worse than the 139 OPS+ Miguel Sano put up in his 2019 season when they were on the same team. A month ago, you wrote an article about the top 5 prospects in Twins history (you rank Miguel Sano #3). In the article, you state his top 100 peak was the #4 prospect in baseball, he was included on top 100 lists for five consecutive seasons, and multiple lists included him as a top-15 prospect for consecutive seasons. One of the best prospects in organization history hits 34 dingers in 105 games while putting up a 139 OPS+ in his age 26 season vs a 29 year old waiver claim who hit 25 home runs and had a 104 OPS+ in 125 games. To even suggest the Twins should have made a different decision is preposterous. Just imagine what the reaction would have been to that.
  16. Three years of team control doesn't matter for Paddack is he doesn't start pitching a whole lot better. I'm excited for his potential. It could be a big win for the Twins if he improves. But yeah the fact is he hasn't been good the last two years and the team control doesn't matter if he pitches like that. Losing Rogers sucks but isn't shocking. Definitely need one of the young guys to step up in the bullpen
  17. There is no reason to be concerned about this. Jose Miranda a year ago was left unprotected for the Rule 5 draft and was looking like a utility player at best. Prospects develop every year. There are quite a few names mentioned in the article and in the comments section that have the potential to be top 100 prospects. There is a draft every single year. It helps to be drafting higher in the first round, but plenty of our top prospects were drafted in rounds 2-7. The Twins have actually been terrible on hitting on their first round picks. Teams also sign international prospects every year. Every single year teams have the opportunity to improve/restock their farm system.
  18. Is Gary Sanchez a better DH option than Luis Arraez? I have expressed concerns regarding Arraez's power, but Sanchez has simply not made enough contact with the baseball 3 of the last 4 seasons to fill a role whose sole purpose is to hit a baseball. If he turns it around then sure absolutely. I don't think he should be penciled in anywhere though.
  19. I mean Winder is 25 and at some point we need to see what he and all the other SP prospects we have can do. It would be neat if we could pull off another trade for a starter, but going with Winder as the 5th starter isn't going to damage him.
