  1. Good speculation, but I just cannot get excited by these options. Montas would be a great addition, but what is the subtraction? Projecting the future roster is difficult, as is anticipating injury. Gray, Ryan, Winder, Smeltzer, Archer would be nice to see if we can bring back all the parts. I do not know if that is good enough. The trade name I would be concentrating on if I were the trade partner would be Steer - this is a rising star.
  2. This rest planning is getting to me. Sorry. I remember players who played every game, but old is old. Still why would you rest two of your best on the same day. Chi Chi does not belong on the roster - a DFA is okay. Arraez is and has been my favorite player. Yes base hits count and contact counts. I love his game. (I know I am gushing). The Twins may have hit their tipping point during these series - time to start thinking about post season (just kidding).
  3. Another enjoyable game. This stretch has been so fun and such a comparison to the lack luster Royals/Tigers series. Smeltzer has earned his place in the rotation, Chi Chi is our sacrificial lamb - hope he comes in and shines.
  4. Ryan and Arraez are the two I take. Buxton has been a DH too many games, missed too many games, and had that 30AB slump - as much as I appreciate Byron when he is on, his overall performance falls short.
  5. Such a bad story for a wonderful person and player. Maybe the idea of having players cover lots of positions has its flaw. No longer a question of who is brought up next - it has to be Kirilloff, but he too has a long history of injuries. Back to Bud Grant - the most valuable players are those who are available when you need them - Hello Jim Marshall.
  6. Nice try - but please do not match us with the Yankees in the playoff.
  7. I have questioned his prospect ranking since we got him. No position and no outstanding attributes at bat - his reputation has been built on his draft position. I don't see him in the bigs for a while and every other team can see what he is doing so the value for a real asset SP is nil. If you want to move on someone who has stock rising it is Steer. Strike now. We do not have a place for him on the roster so get some value (unless we are ready to move Polanco and plug Steer in).
  8. The best assessment I can make is that the Yankees never quit. No matter the score, no matter the inning. They keep going. We started out great, but the last three innings are where the Yanks shine. And our BP???????????????? Come back Ryan, glad you got a warm up start, but get back to the Twins. Then who. I suspect he will replace Sands, but we need someone to move Bundy out of the rotation.
  9. He is in the rotation until we get a full rotation again and someone steps up and takes him out. But who. I had hoped Balazovic would be here and I thought Canterino might be ready to jump up, I had hoped Winder would stay healthy. And I hoped Ober would continue what he did last year. And we hoped Gray would lead the staff! No such luck. So we have Archer, Bundy, Smeltzer, Sands, and ??? And I do not want to touch the bullpen. And still we are in first place. What next?
  10. So sad to see Rodriguez and Canterino go down - a real setback for both. I know that Canterino has been treated to limited innings and pitches, but obviously that is not enough to prevent an injury. The Saints offense is great and players are waiting for a call up, but with the Twins lineup now set I do not see where these players will fit into the MLB roster.
  11. It felt like a holiday - but I went outside and no fireworks. But we beat the Yankees. As Aggies7 pointed out it was 2015 - 7 years ago that we won big against the Yankees and then you have to go back to the 90s. Was this a playoff victory - can we pretend it is and erase that weight from Twins fandom? Probably not, but boy did this feel good. If I were the Yankees I would make Stanton throw away his glove and be the permanent DH.
  12. I did not mean to imply that he was the worst, but I still wonder how our replacements rank.
  13. Jax/Pagan/Moran??? If we want to be playoff ready we need to have someone we can count on.
  14. He really has his act together - but where can he play in Minneapolis. The prospects are stacking up. I imagine Kiriloff, Lewis, then Steer as the pecking order.
  15. We have to disagree here. The game was 5 - 4 - yes the Yankees were leading, but do you give up in the seventh inning. Duffey might come back again, but this was potentially a winnable game. At that point you shut down the Yankees if you have the arm to do it and try to manufacture a run in the next three innings.
  16. What happens when Miranda is there? Is it better, the same, or worse? I see Lewis suggested and I want him to play again, but have no idea if he can do 3B. After another long absence he will be back in St Paul for rehab at some point. The Yankees wanted to tighten up the defense at SS and 3B and we provided them with the answers. Now we have to examine our own options.
  17. I listened to the entire game - punishment - and was going to wait for this posting to come up, but after another Yankee beat down I just had enough. I watched Rocco get thrown out for a dumb argument, not one worth leaving the dugout for. He should have left the dugout earlier before bringing in Duffey. Our parade of BP arms must have really scared the Yankees. Unfortunately Sands is pitching because we have run out of starters so I excuse him, but the rest of the staff was all over the place. If the umpires missed some calls the RP also missed some throws. When you are all over the place it is a lot harder to concentrate on the zone. I believe the Yankees pitchers had the same ump. So who do we trust in the BP? Rogers (oops), Duran, maybe Alcala if he is back? But the rest are just inning eaters who get lucky some times. The thing is, if they are not lucky, pull them Rocco - they are only required to face three hitters, not give up three runs. We need Arraez and I hope he is able to play, we need early season Buxton who was getting the MVP treatment and not the injured slumper. Polanco needs to stay hot, Correa has to come back with a scorching bat and Miranda and Larnach need to get their bats going again. Other than that and the fact we don't have our top three starters we should be fine. It is only the Yankees.
  18. I think he was ready to go home - he watched Duffey and Minaya walk the bases loaded and he waited as usual for too long. With Duffey's record how could he call on him and worse how could he not have a quick hook?
  19. Sanchez needs to be C, Garlick is only against LH, Arraez and Miranda have 1B unless Kiriloff takes it. It is between those three for DH and 1B.
  20. Kiriloff - no one else. Please. First I read about Martin Perez and now Sano and Pagan - I need an antacid.
  21. No. This is the most disturbing idea I have seen in the last month. Do we not remember Perez? 10 - 7 5.88 era, 1.52 Whip
  22. Some players just cannot escape injury like Buxton. It is why I am concerned about Kirilloff.
