  1. I have no idea of the number of games - when he is hurt sit him, when he is healthy play him. That is as simple as I can see the solution. Arbitrary off days when he is fine make no sense, playing him when he is hurt does not either. But then it depends on the injury and if he can pinch hit when we need him, then why stay with the stubborn off day decision?
  2. It's really wonderful to watch a starting pitcher carry the team into the last three innings. It's the way it's supposed to be for all of us who have grown up with baseball from the '50s and 60s and 70s and 80s and beyond. I, like one of the other posters said, can't we let Buxton play more often. Sitting him on the bench isn't saving him from injury. He's going to get injured at some point no matter how many times he sits on the bench and does nothing. I just fear he'll fall off the bench from boredom and then what do we do. Call up somebody to sit on the bench with his number on?
  3. I love to learn about these young and determined prospects.
  4. What a mess - On the radio that said it was a scheduled rest day for Buxton. His appeared in 22 of 34 games - how much rest are we going to give him? He certainly should have been able to swing the bat. Is he injured again? I am confused.
  5. I cannot get excited about any of these pitchers. Promote, don't lose the prospects.
  6. The Jax decision follows the Bundy and Archer decisions! Where are all those coaches that feed him information (I hope).
  7. I understand what you are saying, but it is at this stage that the teams often make decisions on moving or changing players teams and levels.
  8. I need to see more - last night was a poor time for him to implode when you had this article ready. I wonder if Canterino can be what everyone wants Jax to be.
  9. I am too old to have a heart attack inducer as the closer. There are better options.
  10. Lewis deserves to be on the team, sending him down could be a real let down for a young player. Find a way to use him! Move Urshela if needed.
  11. " Javier is now hitting .186 with a .585 OPS. Sabato is now hitting .165 with a .627 OPS. " Our top prospect arms did not fair well yesterday, but the teams did. Javier and Sabato (32 k's in 25 games) are really disappointing. We are now at a point in the season where SSS does not come into play. They join Cavaco (553 ops) as prospects gone bad.
  12. I liked him last year when he struggled to grow into the challenge, but he kept at it and this year is the result of his determination. He has assets that Rooker, Garlick, and Cave combined did not have - speed and a glove. Now his bat is playing big and I hope he is here to stay. What better back up is there for Buxton?
  13. Yes batting is down all over the league, " batting average to its lowest level (.233) in history and runs scored to its second-lowest total (4.08 per team game) in 41 years."
  14. Nothing but brooms - the witches caldron has Urshela and Sanchez looking like Macbeths bad dreams and yet we move Appropriate to this stormy week I quote the opening of Macbeth: First Witch Second Witch Third Witch First Witch Second Witch Third Witch First Witch Second Witch Third Witch
  15. I am excited to see him in Minneapolis, along with Balazovic. Time to move the Bundys, Archers, Paddacks of the world out of the way. I hope Canterino is in the pen after the All Star break and that Balazovic forces his way into the rotation.
  16. What other options do we have for catcher? I did not like the trade and your headline says it all - the Yankees beat us again. I suspect these are one year players, but if Miranda and Kiriloff can get their bats going they can take first and third, Arreaz can DH and they are fine as bench players.
  17. It is interesting to read these summaries, but what really jumped out at me is that I now recognize more names in the lower levels than I do in AAA after all the raids the Twins have made of the Saints. If there are Saints season ticket holders they should get a pass to Target field since the team they started watching is now playing there.
  18. I say we play the doctors and nurses. They are already here and would be prepared for the next batch of injuries.
  19. We have now played 20% or 1/5 of the season and the comments have really covered the trends. Based on our teams experience we have the following tiers: These teams could be champions - Astros, Dodgers These teams are on par with us - Mariners, Rays These teams are losers - Tigers, Royals, Orioles, A's, Red Sox, White Sox (this will be adjusted soon, but this is where they were when we played them). This is looking back not forward with these teams. So now it will be interesting to see how these tiers change in the next 32 games.
  20. Our team was exposed. But one thing I want to complain about is how Gordon - no matter what he does always has a "but" attached. I am very pleased with his play and glad he is on the team. Beyond that - let's step up and beat those Guardians.
  21. I am talking the series, not one game - in game one Baker used all his tools. Would I take him over Rocco? You bet.
  22. Well the graduate level course is over. We can go back to teams on or below our own level.
  23. What a lesson - part 2 of the Astros graduate course on how to play baseball and Dusty taught our managers too if they were watching. Maybe we can get game three, but regardless the Astros leave behind some strong ideas - like hitting singles, stealing bases, hit and run, and then clobber the ball over the fence. Field well, make smart plays! Nicely done. I am impressed with Lewis and Celestino - not so much Gary Sanchez and Urshela and why was Jeffers a DH? Sanchez - 195, Jeffers 203 and Urshela 222. I feel for Cano - Stashek should have the runs added to his ERA. Asking Cano for three innings was a push. Well on to game three, the Astros are probably tired from running bases and we should be able to get to them - Go Winder! I do have hope that Winder is for real and will not give in to the tough lineup he will face.
  24. Wow - you were able to really get a big story out of a 4 inning game suspension! Good job. I look forward to Cano getting able to throw a pitch. I am concerned that Archer, like Bundy is showing the bad side of his pitching - both of them have two clunkers in a row. Is this reality or a little slump. With Paddack down, our team better turn back to the younger arms. Archer ERA jumps to 4.43. Bundy 5.76. Paddack 4.03. When does Ober come back? Gray, Ryan, Winder, Ober, and ??? I know Bundy and Archer will get more starts, but if they continue this pattern I hope the leash is short. Despite the fact that the Twins would rather start over, I think the new idea of suspended games that resume is a good thing.
