  1. Man, I loved Deduno. But yeah, control was an issue with him too.
  2. I have to admit that I knew next to nothing about Paredes. In fact, when I saw his name I had to do some research just to find out which Paredes it was that we were using! But it DOES seem like he has earned the promotion, albeit much quicker than expected. Your comments make me feel more confident in his ability to succeed.
  3. At this point we should consider bringing Big Sexy back out of retirement and using him to fortify the rotation.
  4. What's the status of the Woods-Richardson DFA? When is the deadline where they have to trade him or release him?
  5. Hey, beggars can't be choosers, Welcome to the Twins, Justin. Let's hope for good results.
  6. Yes, I think the Twins need to make a decision very soon about where Diaw keeps playing. Positional diversity can be a good thing, sometimes, but in Diaw's case I think they need to decide one way or another. Not sure if his injury history will factor into that decision or not.
  7. Yeah, as shocking as this move was, I would still put some trust in the front office and the manager and coaches, who are better equipped to make these decisions. I also thought he would be given a chance in the bullpen for a while, All in all, a very puzzling move, but as you noted, another player, such as Klein, will have the chance to show he belongs. Keep bringing up more prospects.
  8. We now have minor leaguers born in 2009, the Joe Mauer MVP year. And so, the passage of time trudges on. Yeah, the passage of time takes no prisoners, but thanks for reminding me that I'm no young prospect these days either.
  9. A good assumption. Unless we want to see Arcia pitching again we could use an extra arm or three in the bullpen.
  10. Lee's development as a hitter has certainly been one of the brighter aspects of this season so far for the Twins.
  11. That seems like a crazy, almost unbelievable stat ... but I'll take it!
  12. I agree. I think I enjoyed Steven's summary even more than the game!
  13. Very interesting list of ex-Twins pitchers, some of whom I had forgotten about. Okert was part of that no-hitter by Houston this week.
  14. I think so too. If nothing else, he seems more willing to try different things with different players and is not so predictable as Rocco was. But as Nick and others said, it's still very early in the season, but despite the various injuries and performance issues (Lewis, Wallner, Topa, and even Bell and Cartatini) we are somehow close to playing .500 ball. And the biggest thing is that it feels a lot more fun this season.
  15. Good article. I was well aware of his ghastly ERA, but didn't realize how wild Banda had been, chalking up multiple wild pitches and plunking a bunch of batters. Let's hope he has settled down and can be a positive contributor to our bullpen.
  16. Yes, he appears to have settled down and is pitching better in recent outings. Certainly no need to dump him just yet like we did with Topa. Hopefully, patience and maybe a few tweaks or encouragement from Hawkins might help to make him a useful bullpen piece.
  17. Another good, detailed report. Thanks, Seth! Too bad about Alvavilla getting released, but he had his chance. After his performance in the WBC I thought we might have found a diamond in the rough, but alas, it wasn't meant to be.
  18. Ah, memories of Gary Templeton. Not to mention, all those other great shortstops. Thanks for that! But yeah, if Young ends up emulating his relatives in regards to body size, shortstop will not be his position.
  19. Good point. Most of us were eager to trade him for a sack of balls during the off-season. Now that he is actually producing and has value, why not see what we can get?
  20. And Polanco is now with the Mets ... and injured again. At this point (how many years later?), I don't care to debate whether the Twins won or lost that trade, but at least we still have one asset left in Gonzalez who MAY end up being a valuable player on the Twins. Here's hoping he can shake some action.
