  1. How long do you think they will keep Royce in AAA? A handful games is too early for any verdict, but are we talking about a couple of weeks, or maybe longer?
  2. Caratini took exception to Contreras' bump at the plate, and Contreras took exception to any human interaction that ensued. And then of course the rest of the players rushed off the bench and the bullpen dudes jogged over and nothing else happened ... but another embarrassingly juvenile tradition continues.
  3. Agreed, Not sure what the Twins are planning at this point, but Rojas has looked pretty poised and impressive thus far.
  4. Yes, the strikeouts remain somewhat concerning. Clemens is punching out at roughly a 26% clip, which is certainly higher than you’d like from an everyday player. That stat caught my eye, and I am wondering: what is that average strikeout rate for starting positional players this season?
  5. Absolutely. Those two players combined to put a serious black hole in the lineup. If they had both performed to expectations, we might at least have a few more wins this season. At this point, I'm content to watch and see how some of the prospects and waiver claims perform, I don't expect any post-season play at this point, but following the team is still enjoyable.
  6. Not to mention obscure body parts and other medical jargon. Sadly, we are learning a lot of new terms this season.
  7. Yep, Jeffers was having a great season. Another very unfortunate injury.
  8. I agree. As rocky as things have been so far this season, all we can do is try to be patient. Amidst all these waiver claims, maybe we find a keeper or two, plus we have some prospects in the minors. As you noted, better results may take longer than we'd like, but it will happen.
  9. Arcia now leading the team in batting average! Okay, only one game, but a nice return for the vet!
  10. I also thought of Hamilton as a comparison, but yeah, without the addiction issues. With Royce, the sudden decline is more of a mystery.
  11. I suppose they were thinking he would only be out for a game or two, but at this point, like you, I'm wondering what is going on.
  12. Very good article and analysis. As an armchair fan, I often don't understand or appreciate factors like the pitcher's arm angle and other such aspects of the delivery (the pitcher's height, etc. ). As for Morris, he seems to be holding his own thus far. I'm not sure if any tweaks to his delivery or pitch arsenal will happen during the season. Seems like it would be less risky to try those changes in the off-season ... or does it really matter?
  13. Agreed, The Twins need to be shaking things up. We need better results somehow, someway. Although Bowman and Arcia are both vets, and I'm inclined to bring up younger prospects, in this case I think we might at well bring up the old folks and see if they can justify the promotion.
  14. I always liked Varland, but he has suddenly transformed into an all-star. Meanwhile ...
  15. Honestly, I don't know what the answer is, but something needs to happen. Royce seems to be healthy, so we can't blame injuries on his lack of production. It's so frustrating from a fan's viewpoint, because he certainly DID show us moments of high-quality play over the past couple of years. But he seems a shell of that player this season.
