I was puzzled to see that Gabriel Gonzalez had officially "cracked" the majors. Huh? I must have missed that one, so I checked and saw that he did in fact play in one game so far. That said, will we see him called up again this season or not? Seems like we still have too many bodies in the outfield and not enough room or games left in the season to play everyone.

The only enjoyable aspect of that game was the pre-game cornfield rollout of all the Hall of Fame players. Fun stuff.

Another terrific roundup of the minor league action. Keep it coming, Seth! I agree about the Twins signing Marquez to a minor league deal. Definitely worth a roll of the dice. As you noted he was already on the Twins' radar a year or two back, so hopefully there is something there the team can use. Zebby and Ober haven't exactly been lights out recently, and even Bradley's game yesterday was cause for concern, so even a so-called innings eater might not be a bad thing to have the final month.

Not so sure about that. Once Abel is healthy and pitching again I think the Twins are going to be happy they have him on the team.

Well, it's possible. I think Rojas has a lot of potential. once the Twins decide if he is a starter or a relief pitcher. But losing Varland still hurts. I think he will be pitching well for many seasons.

I was surprised to see Encarnacion-Strand was back in the majors again, this time with the Orioles, and annoyed that he homered against us. Just one of those losses. Hopefully our bats wake up in the next game.

I am still puzzled by the way the Twins are handling Rojas. Up and down from the majors to AAA and back again. and back and forth again. Is he a starter or will they end up putting him in the bullpen? I think it would help his development if there was a consistent plan for him.

I agree, None of us common folk have any true insight as what is going to happen. But at this point I am very pessimistic there will be a complete season, or even a partial on

I think the Twins need to keep Jackson, not only because his production has been good this season, but also because we are one injury away from another catching crisis. I think he's a valuable backup, and one that COULD be a starter if needed.

Well, we added two quality arms to the bullpen, didn't trade away any starters, and we are still sniffing around the .500 mark. Time for a long winning streak! Man, if he have a healthy Ryan AND Buxton for the final two months, and if guys like Lewis, Larnach, Jeffers and Keaschall keep playing like they have been lately. this team certainly could be a playoff dynamo.

At least you didn't mention bringing back Kepler.

Week in Review: Buying Time
Bangkok Twins Fan replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Good take. And honestly, that's all I can hope for at this point. If we somehow miraculously win the division I'll be bringing my old homer hankie out of storage.- 18 replies

Lewis has a hit in eight straight games and has looked less hopeless than a few weeks ago. His eighth-inning homer was key, of course, but he also nearly homered off of Kirby in the fourth after singling in the first. I also noticed the recent Lewis hitting streak. He is steadily climbing out of the offensive hole that he was in to start the season and finally showing more consistency at the plate. If he can take it up another gear while Buxton is out, that will be a huge help to the Twins. Plus, Keaschall is also hitting better lately too. Now we got to find a way to score more runs and not keep losing these games by one run,

That is the dilemma. As you noted, Larnach would get us a much better return than Bell, but Bell has been a steady RBI machine most of the year, plus I like his veteran presence in the clubhouse. I also think Jenkins is ready, but we have to be prepared for some initial struggles if he's called up this month. No easy decisions.

Larnach is having the best year of his career but many people are starting to think he's some sort of superstar or something. Think back about four months ago, when most people on this board were willing to trade him for a low level prospect, or pretty much anything. I'd trade him while his value is as high as it may ever be.

A bit surprised to see Laweryson DFA'd. He pitched pretty well in his limited time with the Twins.

Royals 4, Twins 0: An Old Friend Acts Foe-ish
Bangkok Twins Fan replied to Cory Moen's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Heck, he also struggled in AAA with the Seattle organization earlier this season, I think they granted him his release, and then somehow, some way, he has found his mojo again in Kansas City. I'm happy for him. But obviously not happy that he beat the Twins.- 66 replies
