  1. Kudos to Zebby on a strong outing. Now, if we can find a way to put more runners on base and get them to score we will have a winning formula!
  2. Sure SWR was fairly awful this season for the Twins, but it's still puzzling that the team was so quick to DFA him and not give him a shot in the bullpen. And as Mike noted, he's still quite young. Do we have such an abundant reserve of pitchers that we can afford to keep making moves like this one?
  3. Very nice tribute to a former great Twins player that many have forgotten about. Thank you!
  4. Bowden lost any credibility 20-plus years ago. Ignore anything that he says.
  5. Justin Lawrence is worth watching, because it takes a unique brand of courage to come into a 16-2 ballgame in the seventh inning and walk the first three men that you face. Courage or sheer ineptitude?
  6. I think Diaw is on the radar for sure, but I'm not sure the Twins would rush him by skipping a level. The biggest question seems to be where he ultimately plays. I had assumed he would get more playing time at catcher, but he still plays a lot in the outfield and that catch he made in center (see video in this article) was pretty darn impressive.
  7. Callan Fang —which sounds like the name of a horror movie villain from the 90s—debuted for the Mighty Mussels, tossing 2 2/3 effective innings with zero earned runs and three strikeouts. He looks to join the fraternity of the 35 Harvard men who have become big leaguers. The Tarpons are an affiliate of the nefarious—yet undeniably awesome—Yankees farm system. They sent forward their ninth-ranked prospect, starter Thatcher Hurd ... . They both sound like villains!
  8. Maybe not elite at this point, but I think he's still very, very good.
  9. I really enjoy reading your observations of the Twins, both MLB and minor league players. Keep on posting!
  10. I love, love, love these minor league reports. Thank you, Seth! Considering the current somewhat dire straits of the Minnesota Twins, it's encouraging that so many of our minor league players are showing flashes of talent.
  11. Another good analysis. I'm still puzzled by most of the things that make a pitcher's pitch mix effective or not, so I really do appreciate articles like this one that explain more about what these guys are doing ... and throwing. Thank you!
  12. Yes, to all of that! Sure, Prielipp struggled, but he hung in there and DID give us some needed innings until the expected bullpen implosion happened.
  13. Josh Bell doesn't get much love here, and overall he's obviously had a sub-par season so far, but when he DOES get hits, he seems to generate a few runs each time. He is tied with Lee at 39 RBI, which is more than either Buxton or Clemens have. Not saying he is a better player than any of those guys, but I still think he has value on this team.
  14. Good analysis. I'm sure we are all hoping that Bradley can overcome these control issues. Like you wrote, his "stuff" is still strong. Now he needs to make sure the pitches are going where they are intended.
  15. Well, it's not an exciting move, but it's not like the Twins have unlimited options this season. Not many pitchers in AAA that truly deserve a callup (sure, we could try some of them, but that might mean adjustments to the 40-man roster and/or service time issues), so why not keep dumpster diving and see if we can find another useful pitcher such as Gomez? I don't expect much from this pitcher, but maybe he sticks. It's just another low-risk move that may or may not produce results. Keep on diving.
  16. Another impressive game for Khadim Diaw. Which position is he playing more this season? Catcher or in the outfield? Or will he end up being another DH type?
  17. Great so see the Twins hitting some home runs, but too bad that nobody was on base when any of them were hit. Meanwhile another rocky outing for Taj, and the bullpen wasn't much better.
  18. I wouldn't put Polanco in the putrid category at all. When he's healthy he's a valuable player, But he certainly is injury-prone and his current salary seems a huge overpay.
  19. What was Kepler's bad news? I assumed that coming back from his suspension and getting signed again would be a good thing for him.
