  1. I get the hometown hero comparison to Thielen since both names start with the same letters but I would think CJ Ham is a stronger comparison. Sure, Duluth is bigger than Detroit Lakes but Mankato is a bigger school than Augastana and CJ’s career has been more of a grinder like Thielbar than Thielen
  2. So a little research tells me that based solely on WAR: 2022/Career Gray 2.4/24.9 Ryan 2.2/2.6 Mahle 2.2/8.8 Ober 0.9/2.1 Paddack 0,2/2.3 Maeda 0.0/7.6 SWR, Winder, other prospects.... Pablo Lopez 3.0/8.5 This is an obvious upgrade and I don't get all the "Mid-Rotation" stuff when we have been told some of these he is better than are #2's. This is now our best pitcher based on last years numbers and will be at the top of our rotation for the next two years (the second of which will not have Gray, Maeda, and Mahle due to free agency) Whether or not this is a great trade will always be determined 5+ years down the road but for right now, It looks to meet a need, upgrades a rotation, and maximizes value of a great player at his peak value. Seems like all the things we have been begging for... Unfortunately, this is the price of trading for high quality... You give up high quality and it hurts.
  3. It has been said that Correa wants at least 300 Million. I believe Gleeman and the Geek set their over under at 286 Million, 9 years to sign him. This got me thinking what would it take to get to 300 at 9 years? I also came up with a front loaded contract but not so big of a drop off... 35, 35, 34, 34, (Opt Out) 33, 33, 32, 32, 32 = 300. If you want to beat Seager, add one more year at more than 25 Million (Player Option of 26 Million? You pick...)
  4. I was thinking something along this same line. If you can lock him up for 3-4 at a very reasonable cost because of his knee concerns then sure but I would be very wary of any contract longer than 3 years. I just do not see him having a long career because of those knees. It is sad because he is such a fun hitter/player to root for.
  5. How old was her dad when she was born? The Civil War ended 65 years before she was born?!?! (Sorry, not sorry for being off topic…)
  6. I think he seems like this huge disappointment because his minor league career and rookie year caused us to get overly excited. I do not think someone that has had a career like his can be called a bust when compared to top draft picks that never made it at all. But the question is biggest disappointment not bust. Disappointment is more about our feelings changing and in this case, it is a big disappointment because we were excited! That Grand Slam in Cleveland? The potential was so there! Sano had his moments and yet he just never fully got to that consistent success we all could see was potentially in there. Yeah, VERY disappointing but I still enjoyed the ride. Biggest disappointment? I'm not sure I'm that far with it...
  7. His answer to the question about what he likes to do with his free time suggests to me that he will be a lifer in baseball. He is probably a future coach/analyst/front office guy. It would be interesting to know if he is already thinking in those directions or is just obsessed with playing at this point.
  8. How long is your Correa contract? I Doubt you can get Correa for 30 unless you are at 10+ years but you also have room under your budget to come up some.
  9. Actually, that was Jeffers dressed up as Miranda since he already got caught doubling up on a previous payroll thread...
  10. Then that would be Willson Contreras. As for your lineup, I believe the Twins would send Gordon to SS before sending Polanco back to SS... Just based on casual observations made over the past year...
  11. Jeffers is just that good...
  12. I also considered the Trevor May reunion...
  13. And the best part is your picture next to the "Please disregard" Lol! Perfect!!
  14. Wait, before this is deleted, I want to know how you did this because I was really impressed that you got Judge to sign for 8.5!! Now I want you as GM!! Lol!!!
  15. I mostly like your thinking but don't like the Ober to the Bullpen part since Gray, Mahle and Maeda are free agents after 2023. Does he have more options? Maybe he's the next man up when one of the top 5 has his first IL stint.
  16. Hey, Go Big or Go Home so go for it!! I like it. Thank you for sharing this one!!
  17. Hey!! Someone signed a starting pitcher!! (Is that legal?)
  18. Same thing happened to me so I made another one and then tried to rename it... When Trying to type in a new name, the name box went blank and I couldn't tell how far back I had gone with the backspace to delete the old name and if you go to far it just exits the edit so 4-5 attempts later, I had a new name for my 2nd attempt at a payroll.
  19. Oh, yes, Larnach! I forgot to mention why he is not on here. I'm predicting injured to start the season and beginning the year on the IL or rehabbing in AAA. You know, someone has to be injured so I flipped a coin on it being Larnach or Kiriloff to start the year.
  20. ? Wilson Contreras ($17.00M) 1B: Luis Arraez ($4.50M) 2B: Jorge Polanco ($7.50M) 3B: Jose Miranda ($0.70M) SS: Carlos Correa ($33.00M) LF: Alex Kirilloff ($0.70M) CF: Byron Buxton ($15.00M) RF: Matt Wallner ($0.70M) DH: Austin Martin ($0.70M) 4th OF: Kyle Garlick ($0.70M) Utility: Nick Gordon ($0.70M) Utility: Gilberto Celestino ($0.70M) Backup ? Ryan Jeffers ($0.70M) SP1: Sonny Gray ($12.00M) SP2: Tyler Mahle ($8.00M) SP3: Kenta Maeda ($9.00M) SP4: Joe Ryan ($0.70M) SP5: Bailey Ober ($0.70M) RP: Jhoan Duran ($0.70M) RP: Jorge Lopez ($3.00M) RP: Griffin Jax ($0.70M) RP: Jorge Alcala ($1.00M) RP: Caleb Thielbar ($2.00M) RP: Jovani Moran ($0.70M) RP: Michael Fulmer ($5.00M) RP: Josh Winder ($0.70M) Payroll is 9.43% under budget I aggressively went after resigning Carlos Correa to a multi year deal (7-9 years) at 33 per year with it being as short as I could get him to agree to and trying to coerce option years as much as possible to limit the back end of this deal. I traded Max Kepler for a bag of balls and shopped Gio before either trading him for 2 bats and another bag of balls or just non-tendering him. I used the money saved to sign Willson Contreras to a 3-4 year deal (as short as possible) but went above his fading value to ensure I have more bat at the bottom of the line up. I then looked around for relievers and starters and realized this is Falvey and Levine! We make our own pitching. I resigned Fulmer and doubled down (or is this tripling down) on that Pitcher Pipe Line
  21. I’d agree with you except you called a comment on a post a post
  22. Valid headline yet most disappointing “near sweep” in the history of minor league reporting. I excitedly clicked on the headline to find Rochester lost; first score reported. All the mystery in the headline gone already… I then quickly scrolled past all the victories to see very Ho hum prospect performances *sigh* on to the next click bait… (this is a partially tongue in cheek comment, not a complaint)
  23. If there was a failure, it was pre lock out. There were a bunch of Starters and the Twins just were not ready to jump on that market until it was too late. Post lockout, the free agents had been picked over and the front office was scrambling. The preseason was crazy with trades and signings in an attempt to make up for the failure in the fall of 2021. The Correa signing was evidence of their desire to win but it was only because everything else didn’t go as planned and there was an incredible opportunity.
  24. You mean his Other home town team? Lol!
