  1. 3 things: 1) Can you teach me that new multi quote thingy you did? I’ve been struggling with that too. 2) I have a gut feeling about Rortvedt being a good MLB catcher some day. I’m not sure what a butt feeling is though (and you misspelled butt...) 3) I think your spot on with the rest of your comments. I believe part of The way to measure a catcher is to look at the pitchers success with various catchers.
  2. I strongly disagree. Rortvedt has had a consistently better stick than Turner and I don’t think Jeffers will ever be a hitter at Garvers level.
  3. I could have just liked this post if you didn’t have those first 2 sentences. I like prospect rankings and following Wander Javier. On the other hand, your paragraph on Nick Gordon is spot on and exactly who I was thinking of as our next late bloomer.
  4. Can't wait for it to arrive. I have been considering ordering the few early books that I did not get but I have most in my collection. Money well spent each year.
  5. Uh, no, I really don’t think we should trade for a 3B...
  6. My wifes first response to this story was "one year? Pete Rose got life and he was betting on games. No one knows if he was actually throwing games and he got life!" I agree. A one year suspension for proven cheaters seems like they are getting off pretty easy.
  7. Well we already know the Twins attempted to extend him last year so I would assume we’re trying to extend him again this year. I also hope we’re trying to extend Odorizzi.
  8. As we all know, Berrios has faded in the second halves of seasons. If he can maintain for a full season, we have an Ace. Can he and his coaches find a way to do this? That is the number one question.
  9. I am married and I am straight but for ANYONE on Twins Daily, if you can get the Yankees contracted, I will go on a date with you and I will even hold your hand. I don't know if that is really any type of motivation at all but if you were wondering, I’m willing to go that far!!
  10. Maybe I’m wrong about this but based on those I talk to outside of TD, the 40 and under (especially 35 and under) crowd has grown up with consistent losing and early exits. They are too young to remember how out of no where it seemed the Twins came to win 2 World Series. That crowd has a very hard time seeing anything through rose colored glasses and I don’t blame them. One of our biggest droughts that is not discussed much is the Rookie of the year you mentioned in the OP. This is one of my biggest disappointments of the Ryan years and remains true. Knoblauch and Cordova in the 90s came in gang busters and then nothing. The prospects that were supposed to change that were Sano and Buxton. Now, granted, we’ve had some stars emerge, Morneau, Mauer, Johan Santana, Liriano for a minute and now Arraez. I would really like someone to pop up and blow our doors off like Knoblauch did. I’m hoping Kirrilloff or Lewis will be that next guy to do it and break the drought. (And win the series while they are at it)
  11. Thank you for that review! One question, we’re these based on top 10 lists or top 20?
  12. Any time you want to quantify something you need a standard to use to measure it. Obviously the standard and measurement going on in this exercise is not about who was the best player but who were the highest regarded prospects coming up through the system and Seth’s ratings appear to be based on how they were rated as they came up and not who ended up being the best. (Obviously with Alex Meyer ahead of the guys you mentioned) It seems to me that looking back on it in this way could help a person examine their own perceptions and how they rate prospects so as to improve their ability to rate prospects in the future. I know I have over rated some (fine, many) prospects in the past and under rated others. That’s why I’m not a scout or even have my own site where people come to read my prospect lists. Seth, I appreciate how well you do with these ratings you give us and your continued efforts to improve your skill at accurately assessing prospects. With how you have done in the past and how highly you’ve rated Lewis so far, I am excited to see him make it to the bigs.
  13. Pierzinski for Nathan, Liriano, and Bonsor?
  14. Great thread and, wow, there are a lot of wonderful options!! A surprise when looking at all the possibilities for the best player on the team is how far down the list of likely MVP’s we find Rosario. I really like Rosario and really enjoy chanting Eddie so it’s no slight to his talents but a statement about this lineup. I don’t think last year was a mirage folks.
  15. If he didn’t get the starting pitcher, what did he get? If he got Coal, I blame him for wrecking it for all of us by being on the naughty list and asking for the Ace we needed! If he WAS on the naughty list and did this to us, how selfish of him! I would suggest Zach move to Chicago to hang out with Bartman. He and the Cubs will probably be more forgiving than we will...
  16. Agree. A no risk or low risk rebound signing that could be released mid May if things were not working? Why not?!?
  17. Yes, Merry Twinsmas to all and to all a good night!
  18. Thank you! Why do people keep ignoring parts of the facts? Isn’t that what we also learned about Wheeler and the East Coast? True for some doesn’t mean true for all, and that works both ways. Apparently biggest money trumped location for Ryu.. Strasburg wanted to stay with his team especially for that kind of money and Cole took the money to play for the Yankees. Am I remembering Wrong that Cole was a Yankees fan growing up? Some get both, big money AND their ideal team (see Mauer)
  19. Because Pineda was suspended and Gibson was unhealthy. People keep forgetting that part of the equation. Leaving out part of the facts is misleading and part of it may be that your misleading yourself by leaving out these facts.
  20. I say go with Deception. Bring em to Fort Meyers and lead them to believe that we are the Fort Meyers Twins. Show them the beaches, proximity to Miami and Disney Land and don’t bother with the truth until Spring Training is over. By then maybe they will even like us!
  21. I like everything you said but especially this Raley/Arraez take. Not that I’m totally sold that it will be Raley that will be this years Arraez but between Raley, Larnach, Kirrilloff, and Rooker, I am confident we will have a rookie or two force their way onto this roster and make it impossible to send them back down. (Maybe even Jeffers)
  22. Sano. How many Bomba’s could a fully healthy and focused Sano do under another year of Cruz’s mentoring?
  23. Got Two Tickets...Might need a third but that will be my problem down the road...
  24. Very happy with the Twins moves so far this off season. I hoped we could get Odorizzi, Pineda, and Romo back. I hoped we would non tender Cron and go a different direction at catcher. I’m still having a hard time waiting for the other Starting Pitcher but that would finish my off season plan.
