  1. Crazy to think of where the Twins would be without C4 this year. Imagine if we were rolling with Farmer as our shortstop. Correa will come back down to earth eventually, but man this hot streak has been fun to watch. The fact that he's got amazing protection hitting in front of Lewis should definitely benefit him in the long run. As long as Baldelli doesn't constantly change up the lineup..
  2. Robert Jr is too expensive for us and we don't need another oft injured outfielder. I'd say Crochet would be the biggest get, just not sure what the Sox want in return. Twins need starting pitching more than anything. If we don't get a playoff caliber starter, we don't stand a chance even IF we make the playoffs. Crochet or Luzardo would pair great with Lopez and Ryan.
  3. Festa continues to pitch well, I could see him getting a spot start or two just like Varland did last week to get our starters an extra day of rest here or there. I seriously think Keaschals bat will play at the higher levels. Maybe he earns a promotion to St Paul later this year and gets an invite to spring training next year. I think the fact that they're having him play the outfield as well as second base shows that they want to find a way to keep him in the twins lineup any way they can. I'm also curious about Canterino. He was put on 10 day IL I believe early this year. Was reported that it wasn't too serious but now here we are months later with no update or progress report at all, which makes me think the worst. Really sucks they can't keep him healthy because I thought he could have been a real weapon in our bullpen this year...
  4. Zebby sure is making the case to be our top pitching prospect. He keeps up this dominance, I could see a September promotion to St Paul. Perhaps paired with a call up for David Festa to make a spot start or two, or help out in the bullpen down the stretch.
  5. I think the Twins need to decide who is going to be our long term left fielder between Wallner, Larnach and AK. Kepler leaving after this year opens another spot, but with Martin, Keirsey and ERod pushing for playing time I think a trade could be coming. I'd say if we could package Kiriloff with one of our blocked infielders like Severino or Helman to get some impact pitching then I say go for it.
  6. Twins biggest need is starting pitching and we should only make a trade for a top 1-3 starter, with at least another year or two of control. Rentals aren't worth losing prospects this year. We need a solid starter at the top of our rotation like Luzardo and probably a leverage lefty for our bullpen to replace Theilbar. I like the guy, but he's done.
  7. I'd be cool with Sears, would be nice to have a lefty starter again. I think we can do better however. We don't need another 4 or 5 starter....
  8. Sure looks like Wallner has figured things out. If he can keep this up a few more weeks I think he could be a left field upgrade. As far as the infielders go, I think we've got a bit of a good problem of a positional logjam. Severino, Hellman, Lee and Keaschal all seem to be hitting well. Lee should be our long-term second baseman so he's not going anywhere. But maybe we could build a package like Severino/Helman and Kiriloff/Wallner to acquire some starting pitching. I'd be all for Garrett Crochet or Jesus Luzardo. We need a good lefty in the pen to replace Theilbar too
  9. Great to see Correa on such a tear, but I think just as important is Buxton heating up. If we can keep CC, Buck and Lewis all healthy and hitting them this lineup could be pretty scary. Alcala sure looks like he's stepped up in a big way throwing 100 mph now with that nasty slider. Still think we need a leverage lefty at the deadline to replace Theilbar. Ryan should be an all star this year if he keeps pitching well
  10. Michael Helman sure has established himself as a big bat to watch this year. I think s trade may be coming. Maybe we leverage some of our infielders to get some legit pitching. Looks like we have a bit of a logjam with too many infielders hitting well. We've got Lee, Severino, Helman, Keaschal.... We're not moving Lee but I could see them building a package with Severino and maybe an outfielder like Kiriloff or Larnach . Wallner sure seems to have figured it out in St Paul, I expect to see him called up soon
  11. Hopefully he can adjust along with the rest of the league and have continued success. I think the Twins need another quality starter with control for our rotation, and a high leverage lefty to replace Theilbar. If we can get that at the deadline we might make September interesting:)
  12. Twins need to pick up a solid starter with control either at the deadline or in the off-season. Moving Varland to the pen makes our relief corps even scarier. If we can ever have Duran, Jax, Stewart, Alcala and Varland pitching from the right side, and then pick up a solid lefty at the deadline to replace Theilbar, we could easily have one of the best bullpens in the game.
  13. Not sure it will be the Pirates, but I think we definitely need a leverage lefty to replace Theilbar. I like the guy, but he's cooked at this point. Also, since the twins are set on Varland staying a starter, I think we need another good bullpen arm that can replace Jackson/Castillo. Especially since we don't know what's up with Stewart....
  14. Both Theilbar and Jackson or Castillo are not good enough to be on a competing teams bullpen roster. I don't think we'll do much at the trade deadline but I do hope we get a good lefty to replace Theilbar and another leverage arm for the back of the bullpen. I'd go with Varland for the second spot, but seeing as the twins are dead set on keeping him a starter, we need another viable relief arm.
  15. This Keaschal guy is insane with the best? He might be pushing for the starting second base job next year, or at least in St Paul. I like watching Martin play, hopefully he can keep getting on base at a crazy rate like he's been doing in AAA. Twins could use an on base spark plug that can steal bases, kind of a second Castro.
  16. I've got to believe that this "part time, platoon heavy" playing time has got to be tough on these young guys development. When your not playing everyday, hitting somewhere different in the lineup every day it's got to throw them off. Hopefully he can figure something out in AAA but it sure hasn't worked yet for Wallner or Julien. Might be time to build a package around some of these guys to clear out some log jams and get some much needed starting pitching.
  17. Management needs to make some changes and finally hold players accountable. Theilbar is cooked and his replacement is in AAA in Funderburk. AK obviously needs a reset at St Paul. Give Wallner a shot. Better yet, Margot needs to go AND we've got a ready replacement in Martin ready to go. He even hits right handed, which is important to this platoon obsessed management. Get rid of Theilbar, Margot and Farmer. Call up the young kids and see what they got. If we want to compete we cannot roll out a lineup where half the team is hitting near .200 lol. Ps, Varland should not have been taken out, especially for our worst reliever in a tie game. The whole point of calling him up was to give our pitchers a rest!
  18. Luke Keaschal just continues to always get on base. I think Austin Martin has earned a call up to replace Margot. He'll hit better, play better defense, and he also hits right handed. What are they waiting for? Margot hasn't hit at all this year but now he's becoming a liability in the outfield! Nice to see Severino heating up. If he could cut down on the strikeouts and raise hit batting average a bit his power could be intriguing to the twins or any other team in need of some pop.
  19. I agree we should look to add quality starting pitching, IF there's years of control. This teams not competitive enough to trade away top prospects for rentals. I say deal away all the veterans and expiring contracts we can, aquire some young controllable talent and retool for next year. Give the kids like Wallner, Keirsey, Martin, Lee and Festa a shot to see if any are ready for roles next season.
  20. I see Varland is picking up a spot start Tuesday. Did they put someone on the IL or just send down a reliever?
  21. I don't think they'll go all in as buyers or sellers. Probably try to dump some expiring contracts while picking up a bullpen arm or two. Although I'd like to see a solid starter with control added like Luzardo or Crochet.
  22. Tough to see, seems like a really good guy. That's not what they get paid for unfortunately....
  23. We didn't win this game, the pirates lost it. Twins really need to learn to hit off speed and breaking pitches. Other teams have figured out we absolutely pound fastballs, but can't do anything against anything else. We need a roster shakeup. It's sad we have in house replacements for Margot, Farmer and AK. Give the kids a shot, they can't be worse than what we've been trying to build a lineup with. I mean c'mon, hitting Santana and Margot leadoff? That's laughable...
  24. I think they're just looking for consistency at Wichita before they consider a late season promotion to AAA for Zebby. Between him and Festa we might have some decent starting pitching depth next year. This might mean they won't go out and spend on a solid starter though:(. Anyone know what's up with Canterino? Been out all year, even though they said it was something minor with his shoulder. I thought him and Varland could really help out our bullpen in the second half this year...
  25. Aside from Ryan and SWR, our rotation has been garbage. Tough to see that from Pablo, I guess we put too much pressure on him to be our ace this year. Offense needs some juggling. Just dump Margot and Farmer. Call up Keirsey Jr, maybe E Rod. Might as well give Festa a few spot starts, see if any of them are ready to help us next year. Too bad Buxton looks cooked. Even healthy he's looking at a full season line of that? .220 BA. 10 Hr. 5 SB. . No walks and tons of strikeouts. That's not acceptable for over 15 million per year. Is he just going to be a defensive specialist the rest of his career? :(
