    My guess is he's looking at surgery and missing another season. I'm sure the Twins will give his 40 man spots to someone else. Maybe next year they bring him back on a minor league deal and see if there's any chance of him throwing again. He would have to pass through waivers at this point right? Too bad. So much potential, just can't stay healthy. Not everyone is able to handle the rigors of pitching.

    If they can all three stay healthy all year, Lopez, Ryan and Ober should match up with any other top 3 rotation in the AL. Trading half a season of Nelson Cruz for a long term TOR Joe Ryan may go down as one of Falvey's best trades

    If Wallner can learn to keep his strikeout rate at a manageable level, I could see a 30 HR season for him no problem. One big plus about Wallner is he seems like a tough and durable guy. Twins need more players like that who can remain healthy and on the field throughout the season.

    He needs to get his command under control first. He has options, I expect him to start in AAA but still get plenty of looks in the majors. Probably bouncing back and forth from St Paul to Minneapolis.

    Of course it all depends on the trade. I'm only trading pitching for major league talent who would help us this year. That brings up another question, where would we add a bat? First base, second base? Wouldn't that block Miranda and Lee. France signing would be easy to drop but he's looked really good this Spring.

    What about Gasper. His bat looks great and I believe he's even caught a few innings this spring?

    Keaschal has looked pretty good at the plate too. Gasper as well. Keirsey seems to impact every game he's in. RBI's, runs and stolen bases.

    Keaschal has looked good. So has France and Gasper. Does Gasper have a shot at making the team? He can play first, second and catcher in an emergency. I'm sure he'd outhit and outplay Julien.

    I say try to offer a comparable prospect like Gabby Gonzalez or the like. If a trade can't be worked out, stash him in the back of the pen. Then next year, we can decide if we want to keep him as a reliever or send him to the minors to develop as a starter. Pitchers are priced at a premium, a top 20 prospect is too valuable to lose for nothing ..

    I'm also curious about Severino. I get that he had a bit of a down year, but he still hit over 30 HRs. Like 35 the year before. Sure he's lower on the depth chart, but not even one appearance? With the long term first base position in flux, the twins need to figure out if he's an option. If not, gotta look elsewhere.

    I think one reason he hasn't gotten a real shot is because he's a lefty and for whatever reason, Rocco views that as a weakness. From what I've seen of him, he can outhit and be a much better defender than Martin. Plus, he's a legit CF which Martin or Castro isn't. I think he would be very valuable as a defensive sub, pinch runner. He hit 300 in AAA last year and would give us a stolen base threat, something we've lacked for years. Imagine a late game outfield of Bader, Buxton and Keirsey. No balls would drop in that outfield! Free Keirsey!

    This should be fun to watch, although it's a little dissapointing we won't see Jenkins, Rodriguez, Raya or Eeles...

    Twins have done a nice job adding velo and developing young pitchers. Now if we could just find a way to keep them healthy we'd be golden. On the hitters side, I also would like to see Eeles getting big league reps at 2b this spring. If he hits like he did last year he could be a great spark plug at the top of our lineup. As much as I like Wallner and his power potential, I do not like him as a leadoff hitter. He strikes out way too much.

    It may be tough to keep Castellano in the pen all year if he isn't quite ready, but I think he has way too much potential to just give him back to PHI. If we can find a way to keep him and send him back to AAA next year to finish off his development, he could end up a TOR starting pitcher or a set up/closer type of bullpen arm. Canterino and Topa going down doesn't worry me too much. Nobody was counting on them to be impact arms this year. Varland can take Topa's spot. I've got to imagine the twins give up on Canterino. The dude just won't ever be able to pitch without hurting himself.

    Zebby has looked great early on, hopefully his injury is nothing serious.

    We all knew there would be some spring injuries. As long as most of them are minor we should be ok

    Who gets the most DH at bats this year? I think if France is the starting 1b then Miranda will get a lot of DH at bats. I could also see Lewis, Buxton and Larnach getting their share. I really hope we don't see lineups with Vasquez DH'ing again like last year just to fill the lineup with righties.

    As has already been said, it's a balancing act. Major power hitters usually strike out more often. You'll take the K's in exchange for the home runs. But you also need guys on base for the power hitters,meaning less strikeout prone, high OBP guys. A good lineup has a good balance of both.

    I think it is very fair to say a major part of the Twins success this year hinges on Correa. He's our highest paid player by far at 37 mil, he's arguably our best hitter and he's definitely our best defender in the infield. Keeping him healthy throughout the year is paramount. I'm more worried about his backup Lee being ready for the majors. His defense should play at 2nd, SS and 3rd, but his bat needs to be better than it was last year. I think unless he really looks great this spring, he could use some time at St Paul. Either way, he needs to play everyday to get into a rhythm.

    It sure looks as though Canterino and Topa are primed for another lost season, real bummer, especially for the talented Canterino. My guess is both these guys will lose their 40 man spots. Glad to see Martin making plays in the OF. On one hand, an OF of Martin, Buxton and Bader would be elite defensively. Offensively, would make a pretty weak lineup against lefties if this is how Rocco plays it.

    With Canterino and Topa already hurt and Stewart looking like he'll be ready for opening day, I'd go with a pen of Duran, Jax, Sands Stewart, Coloumbe, Alcala Castellano and Varland Topa can be called up when healthy. Tonkin hasn't looked good early on, maybe he passes through waivers. I think Castellano has too much potential to lose him. If we need more relief arms we have all those starters at St Paul that would love to get their cup of coffee.

    Too bad, he had loads of potential. I'm guessing an IL placement is coming. If he can't come back and throw some minor league innings this year, there's no way he keeps his roster spot. Maybe they pass him through waivers and sign him to a minors deal, but it sure looks like he'll never be able to pitch :(

    I can see Lewis improving defensively at 3b with more time there. If his struggles continue, or if he's hampered by nagging injuries again, his bat would profile great at first base. Playing there might keep him healthier too. Not to mention it would open 3b for Lee who is better there defensively. Lewis at first, Keaschal at 2nd, Correa at SS and Lee at third looks like a pretty good long term infield. We just need to figure out our plan at catcher.

    I think with another year removed from surgery and by playing everyday at 3b, his defense should improve with more innings there. If not, or if the Twins need Lee to play 3rd to get him in the lineup, Lewis' bat would profile great at first base. Might help keep him on the field as well. With Lee, Julien, Miranda, Keaschal and maybe Eeles all fighting for I field innings, it'll be interesting to see how it plays out. I imagine whoever is hitting best will get into the lineup one way or another.

    Looks like he's already hurt again with a shoulder strain. My guess is another 60 day IL is coming. At this point I'm thinking if he can't come back and pitch some minor league innings this year, he'll lose his spot on the 40 man. Maybe he passes waivers and we sign him to a minors deal. I had hopes for him but it seems his arms can't hold up to pitching. Prelipp might be our best bet at an in house all-star type reliever.
