  1. Wow.. not sure what to think at this point... I "think" I like it....
  2. Nice Job again Front office.. my confidence continues to rise that we will be pretty good this year... still need one more solid pitcher... Calling Oakland.. What might you need for Manaea.... Could use a lefty in that rotation... or even Better Montas as an ace... but way more expensive...
  3. Don't agree that he is a no hit player ... 271 with 8 hr and 20 SB is pretty decent. Clearly not with the big boppers but with gold glove type defense that is more than respectable... also given that the new Rangers ballpark is NOT a hitters park. Also given the very nice arm coming along with .. win for the Twins.
  4. Needed to fill the SS also.. good trade.. be patient. Pitching will be addressed...
  5. Great move , liked Garver but getting a Gold Glove type SS that can hit respectably and steal bases.. Every day and on Sunday. Now the pitching...
  6. If can get those done sign me up... agree that Story is more of a 5 year 150 type signing... not sure we would be doing that... or should...
  7. Like Arraez also but we have replacements that are capable for what he brings. If he can help land pitching that helps us ...let it be.
  8. I would say the New Years resolution is that MLB and the players union get a deal done ASAP so we can actually talk about pitchers that the Twins are connected to in FA...
  9. Guessing he signed when he was 16 as an international player. My understanding is after 7 years in minors they become FA.
  10. As I had replied in Gleeman's article ... Twins are attempting to mimmick the Rays system for pitching.. have a stable ready to go ... and keep them coming. Once a pitcher gets to his max value trade to a big boy for their quality minor leaguers... rinse and repeat. Has made the Rays parenial power with a low payroll... not an easy task and takes GREAT patience but over time is a great way for a smaller market team to compete with the big boys. That being said I fully expect the Twins to make a trade for a quality pitcher from Oakland or Cincy. All depends on the return thos teams are looking for...
  11. Not a bad article but one HUGE piece is missing... how much and how long are the contracts of the pitchers we are possibly attempting to trade for. This is probably "as" important as any of the stats or metrics.
  12. As a rule I would say giving up a top "bat" prospect for pitching is not good strategy. Unless is an ace type on a good contract. Otherwise. Pass.. Lets remember folks.. he is 22 years old yet. Give him this next summer to see where he is at .. We have a plethora of OF so we need to give him a shot at SS in a serious fashion... along with Martin. One of the Two "needs" to be our SS for the future.
  13. No one "caught" should go in...period. Stating stats that are ballooned because of the physical enhancement of steroids are legitimate is by common sense just wrong. Kind of like stating that someone who is a very good to great student that cheats on a test and aces it ... gets caught but still is given an A+ grade and gets to have "honors"... . Makes NO sense. Lack of integrity is a huge problem ...
  14. So Colome was simply terrible and with him blowing leads seemingly every night for the first month we are soft because we got rid of him? Sorry Stephen and Stu that is not soft that is smart. Let's not mix up the two. Having grown up in the 70's and 80's I understand being loyal but we had some TERRIBLE teams. This team and system is full of talent and expectations are that this team compete for the division title at minimum. Keeping weak links is not the answer to that.
  15. Yah ... if their needing Austin Martin, Royce Lewis, and Matt Canterino... for 2 years of service as not likely we would be able to resign him.... hard pass.
  16. Need to penny up and get a top end guy that is a one. expensive ... yes but if we are truly wanting to compete is a need. On top of that we need a solid veteran that can be depended on.. not a superstar but dependable.... THEN possibly getting a Velasquez type guy .. low risk high reward.
  17. Twins do need at least 1 high quality veteran starting pitcher. I would be good with either of these 2. Cost will be an issue. Twins may look for a trade for some vets also... Oakland is a prime target right now.
  18. Rumor has it that Donaldson was available... but no takers... likely would have to "pay" for him to go somewhere and get very little back.. Keep him as a DH so he stays in the lineup as his bat is still strong... and would keep him fairly safe.
  19. JD and Sano Rotate at DH/1B... Plant Miranda at 3rd... Polanco at SS and Arraez at 2nd. Have Simmons play As a fill in to give Polanco or Arraez a break... Simmons has not future here so let the core.. future core play together...
  20. Get a Tampa Bay feeling going here... for the good... Getting great depth at SP... trade guys that are a year out and get great haul... hopefully we can see some of these guys as the geriatric department of the Twins pitching staff needs to retire...
  21. Buxton is a tough one... has played at superstar level for about 2 months of his career but it is clearly there. Guy can't stay healthy so understand the Twin's view. Not sure what the answer is. Giving him a monster deal would not be my answer. Trade him to a NL team for top prospects would be my first choice if can be done. Atlanta for Waters and Muller... would get it done for me... or something like that
  22. All three trades are "light" in return coming back as far as I am concerned. Add 2 more decent young prospects (pitching) to the Toronto trade. 2 for 2 and we give them 2 proven high end players. C'mon. HAVE to get more. Am fine with Groshans and Woods... but have to add a couple more arms in low minors... have to get arms... Can't see SD looking for Pineada... rumor today has them in the running for Berios and Taylor... Gore, Thompson and Mears... Mets... also looking for Berrios.. Got to get pitching back .. Baty, Matt Allen... and Lottery tickets from thier low minor leagues.. Is a sellers market for pitching .. controlled for another year.. better get a great haul.... !! Think Tampa Bay.. when they make trades they get quality AND quantity...
  23. This is not rocket science.... Our offense is fine.. 5th in the AL in Runs scored.. that is not the issue. We have given up 300 runs ... the most in the AL and 2nd worse overall. Overhauling the offense is not the issue. We need to improve our pitching. We have some very good prospects.. let's see if they can help.. No reason to wait. Let's let the youngster's grow up... It's time.
  24. Should have done my homework on that statement.... there are other prospects that would be better than Shoe... give him the boot!
  25. Meeting LOW expectations is a great way to be a bad team... 100% sure Duran would be much better and may even spark some wins.
