  1. We are a dozen games in... complete over reaction. Catching position for us is a strength. Calm down.
  2. Like Bailey he a lottery ticket/throw away guy. If he pitchers well awesome.. but...Not likely.... if not ...they are biding time for one of their up and comers.... no lose.
  3. Just give "special K" the job and be done with it.. Not sure with Chicago as good as they appear to be we should not put our "best" out there from day one.
  4. Umm that was 5 years ago.... #2 upside? What you smokin' Willis? If it was a minor league deal I would be fine but a major league deal? With all the options out there he is the pick? Yikes! Front office has done a great job so they are due a mulligan... this is it....
  5. My guess is that Garlick won't be around that long either as teams adjust and FA are signed and players DFA'd... would guess that they will be looking for another pitcher for his spot when the dust settles....
  6. Gotta love the strength and depth of our minor leagues... especially the pitching.. SO important to continued success at the major league level....
  7. Great to have a bunch of quality options....
  8. Worth a call but likely the price one way or another will be too high...
  9. I agree... why we let Rosario go... why Sano needs to be assessed and thought to go the other way.. did for a while 2 years ago... numbers were very good... Can't rely on home runs "ALL" the time. As fun as watching the Bomba Squad it is better if we have guys that can actually "hit" the ball with 2 strikes instead of swinging from the heals. Unfortunately that seems to be the way of the MLB these days... I am good with the home run but am great when players consistently put the bat on the ball with 2 strikes... Better baseball visually.... Our young guys coming up seem to have better numbers in contact percentage and seem to have a better "plan". Hopefully it translates at the MLB level. Am excited to find out.
  10. Would really love Cruz back for one more year and it may happen but.... do believe that the NL will be getting the DH... just makes to much sense... then... it is open season and is less than 50/50 chance. We can hope. More importantly we need to add one more good/great reliever. Should be able to as there are still many options. And still plenty of time to add ... trade.. etc... Very excited to see the 21' version.. should be good!
  11. Have read Law's stuff for years and don't trust "most" of his assessments. He is a quality hitter with good patience... a very good arm. He will be contributing very soon.... will be a stud.
  12. Umm... not sure why you would say "could have been"? I would think that there is still every reason to believe that he behind closed doors is on the block. I do believe also that there is zero shot they send him somewhere for relief pitching. Those pitchers are a dime a dozen. Why move a solid asset for something we can get on the FA market for very little... not a good choice. ZERO chance Cleveland trades interdivision and sends and ace... maybe a prospect but no way an ace... So teams that are needing a 2nd baseman that is a hit machine... Baltimore.... really no player at 2nd on their depth chart.... Chicago Cubs ...... right now they have David Bote there... they are in a selling mode so.... Milwaukee... have Huira there but most believe he would be better at 1B... they have some pitching pieces that may look good in our rotation.... NY Mets.... has McNeil there but there is talk he is going to 3B leaving that spot open... Luchessi has a pretty good pedigree ... pleny of upside... Oakland .... actually is a good fit - but would want starting pitching and they have some decent depth and prospects... Pittsburg .... could use him but don't see any assets that would fit .... St. Louis .... needs a 2B but with his limited defense am guessing they would pass.. they value defense much more than most.... Those are the teams that seem to me to have a need .... but unless the Twins see a good pitcher or a prospect that is darn good I see him staying here.. Our starters are a bit brittle and it is likely he will get a good run somewhere in the infield.
  13. Not sure that they will have that 2nd utility guy ...... With St. Paul so close on half of our games they are a call away for the next game. Not like we are a national league team with double switches all over the place. My guess is most of this depends on Cruz... if he comes back we likely won't have that second utility guy ... or will be Austidillo ... 3 catchers 5 infielders 4 outfielders 5 starters 8 relief pitchers... 25 man roster..... if goes to 26 it is likely to me they would add to the bullpen..... That is not even accounting for Cruz at DH.... So likely to 2 catchers if he signs...
  14. Am also "okay" with the rotation as it is as is solid one through 3 and the 4th and 5th starters have had some success and would likely be as good or better than "most" 4th and 5th starters of the majority of the teams we will be playing. Also have some starters in the minors that are very close to contributing and it is likely we will be seeing them this summer with an injury or two... There are still a bunch of pitchers out there looking for a home and some have started taking that one year deal... I think owners have figured out that if we are going to take a risk on a player make it a short risk... players are going to have to adjust... no reason to go for a 3 year deal on a "risk"... That being said if somehow the owner loses his mind a bit and somehow lands Bauer I am sure we all would be jumping for joy and again we would be a lot closer to contending for more than the division.
  15. Am praying someone teaches Colina a cutter... think Kenley Jensen... oh if only!!
  16. Good news is about 1 in 4 actually are productive major leaguers... hopefully more but If 2 of them are "good" major leaguers it is a win! Guessing Kiriloff is going to be a stud so that is 1.... Larnach looks the part and I beleive he will be here by next year for sure... Sabatko is hopefully the long term solution at 1st... unless Sano wakes up and realizes he can hit to all fields... Rooker seems to be a so so prospect to me but maybe I am wrong... Overall... We are good....
  17. Zero chance with the Simmons signing unless we move Arreaz... which is unlikely but possible if for pitching....
  18. Fantastic move... Simmons should start most games at SS with Polanco coming over a couple days of the week if needed. I see Polanco taking over at 2B but also still see him as a natural super utility guy for the IF as he can play SS, 2B and 3B... Lots of options here. Not that this will happen but also opens up the DH spot for a rotation situation if we can't get Cruz back for some reason. Love Cruz and want his bat back but rotation may keep guys healthier..... again this move allow a lot of options.... Nice job Front office.
  19. Kind of a skimpy list there Cody.... Let's see.... Jose Alverez, Cam Bedrosian, Brad Boxberger, Trevor Cahill, Tyler Clippard, Alex Colome, Chris Devenski, Sean Doolittle, Carl Edwards Jr., Ken Giles, Junior Guerra, Brad Hand, Matt Harvey, Heath Hembree, Derek Holland, Jared Hughes, Tommy Hunter, Jeremy Jeffress, Rob Kaminsky, Keone Kela, Ian Kennedy, Brandon Kintzler, Corey Knebel, Aaron Loup, T.J. McFarland, Jake McGee, Mark Melancon, Daniel Mengden, Mike Montgomery, Adam Morgan, Juan Nicasio, Darren O'Day, Roberto Osuna, Blake Parker, Brad Peacock, Oliver Perez, Yusmeiro Petit, David Phelps, Erasmo Ramirez, AJ Ramos, Chaz Roe, Sergio Romo, Hector Rondon, Randy Rosario, Trevor Rosenthal, Trevor Rosenthal, Pedro Strop, Ryan Tepera, Tyler Thornburg, Nick Tropeano, Nick Vincent, Edinson Volquez, Tony Watson, Justin Wilson, Brandon Workman and Kirby Yates. Wondering why the Twin's are being patient? No reason to have to jump. The musical chairs game is being played and the last few chairs will be cheap and likely still very effective....
  20. Cubs would have to take on some of the Salary for the Twins to bite. I would be fine with it.... Could mix and match at 1st, 3rd, OF.... or Put Sano in the DH and call it a day. Would only be a one year deal but have always liked Bryant so would be good with it.... Would Love Baez also but that would take a few top end prospects... not sure that would be worth the cost...
  21. Solid fairly cheap signing for a 5th starter hopefully. Key is a 1 year deal that allows us to move on if our young studs are ready.... Get it we all want big names but this is decent for a 5th starter...
  22. Paxton... 1 or 2 years would be fine. 2 year deal with a mutual option would seem to make the most sense... then either could get out.... if not happy with the situation. Like ODO but ready to move on.
  23. He is not Maeda .... but as a fourth starter.... not a great bet.. as a 5th starter... fine...
