  1. Actually ... We traded a very good bat for a very good arm.. a very good prospect bat and a very good lottery ticket bat...
  2. Bingo! Would not give up Arraez for "just" Lopez but with Luzardo who is "controllable" and has top of rotation stuff... and win in the playoffs... that would be something to seriously consider.
  3. Have been a Twins fan for 50 years... we have had our share of good and bad managers. But... After having Kelly and Gardy we know that we were clearly spoiled. There used to be a saying around baseball... The Twins way... meaning playing great fundamental baseball, running the bases well, good suituationaly hitting, Good pitching and quality back end pitching. At this point we are 1 for 5 ... maybe ... giving that the starting pitching is good but not great. I think we have the back end pitching but Baldelli and the pitching coach completlely mismanged. I clearly am a bit old school but in looking at the great teams around right now .. other than the talent disparity ... thy all play "old school" fundamental baseball. The game has been aound going on around 150 years... those that think they can outsmart it are actually doing a disservice to the game and the fans. Pretty much why all the rule changes. The analytics and metrics that everyone seems to be enamored with are numbers... that is it... they are intended to assist a manager in making quality decisions... not "be" the decision as it clearly appears is the case as we watch Baldelli. I feel bad for Baldelli as it shows a lack of trust from the FO or lack in trusting his own baseball instincts. Whatever the case unless we get back to the traditional "Twins Way" we are in for more of the same... NOT GOOD!!
  4. Not even in the ballpark for Lopez....
  5. Okay with Correa set up for SS one would think that Farmer would be on the move with his very resonable 3.15 mil contract... Or keep him and move "several" 2B. Polanco should be moved right now as he still has a reasonable contract and should get good value in a trade. Gordon should take over at 2B... still young and has shown he is capable. Playing there everyday should improve his defense ... On the Market "should be" Farmer, Polanco, Gordon, Martin, Larnach, Kiriloff, Cellistino, Walner, Gallo..... not all should be moved but .... Go get and upgrade in the pitching staff.... or at very least clear the deck and get quality prospects .. 7 guys for 2 spots makes little sense for the infield or the OF. Boston is needing IF... that might be a place to start...
  6. Throws with a "short arm" motion... never going to be a full time starter and survive. Best suited for the pen.. basically a lottary pick but possibly ready to help now... which I am sure is why they picked him up. But as stated by some.. likley to be DFA'd if another players comes up with better talent. No big deal.
  7. Our history with Korean players is not so good... pass unless cheap.... as in some lottery ticket guys...
  8. I think Fangraphs is dead on.. we are a .500 team as currently constructed. Would need some quality trades to upgrade the pitching staff that would improve the team as well as figuring out the outfield situation. We do have a decent pitching rotation but NEED a quality pitching coach ... last year between our fill in and Baldelli it was the worst Coached pitching staff in the league...
  9. Saw the same thing... know the Twins would take some heat but for a one year deal and likely having LAD pay a good chunk.. I'm in. He would first have to show some accountability but ... worth a shot.
  10. Correct but Miranda was playing out of position... and allows Kiriloff to move to his best position. A connect the dots thing...
  11. Skimping! As a fan base we should be thankful that we didn't get "scammed" by Boras. I am not happy that we didn't get a quality SS for the team but that contract is stupid... Not getting him was the right move ...
  12. Most important aquisition this offseason may well be a qualified and competant pitching coach... The coaching last year was a complete disaster. Twins used to pride themselves on thier quality of fundamentals .. including defense, baserunning and pitching..... they are not good in any of these areas at this time..
  13. Alright... that reply get you your cred back!!
  14. Lost some credibility on this one Greggory... Signing was fine... if was for a minor league deal with 11 mil in incentives... As is was a Terrible signing and as I have said.. this one should cost someone their job... incompetent move.
  15. Need to "read" the numbers! The offer was for more annually than SF .. Their offer was fantastic. That he took the SF offer was disappointing but understandable. Those 10-13 year contracts NEVER pan out... I would be pissed if we DID sign him for that .. Stupid and irresponsible use of resources.
  16. Actually, they did replace him already. Inhouse with Miranda... who clearly has a higher ceiling and needed to open the spot. I like Urshela a lot but that needed to happen.
  17. A minor league deal with incentives up to 11 million dollars ... I would be okay with. But a straight 11 mil guaranteed ... if that is the case someone needs to be fired. That is the definition of incompetence.
  18. You may actually want to look up his performance numbers... they are TERRIBLE. If we are looking to be terrible... this is the right move. Yikes.
  19. GLEYBER TORRES has been on the block ... that would work.. not likely, but is arbitration eligible for the next 2 years and have some star power coming up... Peraza would be awesome as a great glove and cost effective... not sure Correa is going to happen.. hope but...
  20. Okay ... who do you take off the 40 to put Cruz on?
  21. Would really depend on what they got back for them. Kepler has yearly underperformed... Polanco has some good trade value with his manageable contract ... Moving both would open up spots for Gordon to play second as he has proved he can play.. Kepler very good on defense but... They CLEARLY will add a catcher so that is a mute point.
  22. NO WAY they ask for that. Larnach or Walner, with Gilberto and one of Winder, Sands or Varland. I would think that would get it done. All very controllable with some quality upside.
