Can shorten this article a lot... He has done very little (quantity-wise), but has done it extremely well (quality-wise). Like many prospects, and seemingly all Twins prospects, health is the key. Dude is undoubtedly a stud ball player. If he can stay healthy for the long haul he should be in Minneapolis in '26 for good. Earlier is possible, but unlikely. A first look next season is a real possibility, more likely late in the season. He does need good health for that to happen, and to get his body used to playing at a pro level 5-6 days a week over a 5+ month season. He has the skills, but until he shows the ability (or endurance) to put together a full season I can't get overly excited (and he is the most exciting prospect since Buxton or Sano with their unlimited upsides as young prospects). If he's healthy, the sky is the limit. If not, well.... maybe we have Rocco Baldelli (the player version).

So, we can look forward to someone with "below average" power who could develop into a Brian Dozier... Quite an open-ended forecast!!!

Why are the Guardians so Good this year? Clasé, Kwan and Naylor.
Bodie replied to stringer bell's topic in Other Baseball
Roll back the years in your last sentence, and could have (and has ) been posted for most of the last decade. Might be time to admit that this isn't a fluke, but an honest result. Wish I could quantify what they are doing, but I've simply accepted that when spring training ends I can look at Cleveland's roster and figure it for ~.500 team, maybe just below (75-80 wins). Add 8 to 10 wins, just because it's Cleveland. Thought it was more a Terry Francona-thing, but if it is, it seems to be a long-lasting thing!- 45 replies

Verlander seems right up Falvey & Cos. alley: just finished his first start off the IL and says that it was painful. Gotta get in there before his return to the IL!!!!

Wil Holland??? My favorite 163 year old prospect? Sweet! #FreeWilHolland -
Time for some reliable statistics, if you found numbers rating Julien as "above average" defensively... The eyeball test says he is lacking (i.e. definitely not above average) in range, glove and arm (accuracy and surely strength). His "instincts" are not near good enough to make up foe his physical shortcomings. Keep coming up with such stats, and I may start to think this analytics craze might not be all that is advertised!!!

Moving a short reliever into the rotation seldom works. This isn't Johan Santana who was brought up as a bullpen guy (after working through the minors as a starter) to "get his feet wet" before his planned (and eventual) move to the rotation. I'm not yet sold on him being an elite reliever (give it time!), but he is likely the best, most reliable, reliever the Twins have at present.

Twins (Ober) @ A’s (Sears); 6/22 @ 3:07pm CT
Bodie replied to Squirrel's topic in Archived Game Threads
Stats say that those numbers will reverse themselves in the long term. Unless, of course, he keeps it up! Is it possible Rocco is suffering from a undiagnosed concussion??? Would be a very Twins thing.... -
The Twins' biggest problem this year is inconsistency. Hoping and praying for a reclamation project is NOT the fix for the wild swings plaguing this team. And if you look at Falvey &Cos. track record, you can count on an old (washed up) vet keeping his roster spot (see Joey Gallo...) and someone with promise (and options) getting a bus ticket to St. Paul. All to roster someone off the trash heap.

If you come up in the bottom of the 10th inning down by one run, it is NOT ACCEPTABLE WHATSOEVER for not scoring the tying run. In Little League it is understandable. If you can't advance the runner from 2B with no outs, you are not a professional hitter. Leaving a man on 3B with one out (the worst result for a professional hitter following a pro hitter in extra innings) is unacceptable for professional hitter. I hate the ridiculous extra innings rule for numerous reasons, but the Twins execution since the advent of the little league rules is even worse!!!

Let's take a specific example that is (or maybe already was) quite popular - the "sweeper" style slider. The stats show it to be (at least at one specific time) the hardest pitch to hit. The end result of this discovery was to have everyone and his dog learn the sweeper because it is the most difficult pitch to hit. No though that the reason the pitch was, at one specific time, so tough was because only a few guys threw it. Possibly even they were the most suited to using it due to one of several other factors such the rest of their arsenal, arm angle, or simply having a "knack" for it that can't be quantified or qualified (think Mariano Rivera and his 99.9% cutter usage - no one else could throw it that often without getting teed up). To paraphrase, there are lies, damnable lies, and then there are statistics....

An analogy... You have a dog, and every time you let him out of the house he bites the nearest stranger. He got the UPS man today. Yesterday he bit the local politician doing door to door campaigning. The day before that he bit the FFA gal doing fundraising sales. When that dog bites someone tomorrow- surprising no one - the fault lies with the person who is too stubborn to do what needs to be done.

This site will never allow an honest evaluation of Margot (too critical, "too mean" or insulting...) so we get yours! Accepting him as even an occasional pinch hitter (his defense, supposedly an asset, is so bad that it should be a firable offense to put in any game as a defensive replacement) is beyond even laughable! A Gallo-level error in breaking spring training with him on a roster at any level.

Margot hasn't earned a place on the WHITE SOX roster with his play. Whatever he (supposedly) had for baseball talent in the past has eroded to the point his place is in independent ball...
