  1. I feel like when the Yanks are eliminated, you pop champagne. When the white Sox bow out...? Beer and Brat?
  2. They should.put me in. I'd walk the bases full, walk in 2 runs, but literally ANYONE who came in after me would look like vintage Randy Johnson.
  3. Slightly before my time, but I had his baseball card. RIP Sir.
  4. You all are crazy. I love Polanco. But he plays a position of great depth for us. Deal from surplus. He has been pretty bad this year. We would hate to have him playing for us right now. I know I would. We have Topa 2 years control and 1 or 2 decent prospects. And money i will equate with this year's Santana. Valued against the NEGATIVE impact Polo has been. And it's likely he has a new team next year, so NO future value. How is this even a discusssion? This is a 10-1 advantage for the Twins.
  5. Your point was those who showed out, then struggled. Those who never made it to MLB wouldn't be included in this data set. I keep trying to answer your points, but they get vaguer and more eratic as we go. Do you even know what you are arguing?
  6. I mean, Christina Applegate when I was 12. Alicia Silverstone when I was 17? I suppose Audra Martin now? 😂
  7. So what about the dozens, hundreds, maybe thousands of players over the years that come up, struggle, go down, come back up, struggle less. Go back down, come back up, succeed? Did they suddenly find more talent? Was it hiding under a rock somewhere and they stumbled upon it? No. They developed. They reacted to the league figuring some aspect of their game out. They used the talent THEY ALREADY HAD to get better. This idea of players (or anyone) as fixed quantities is ridiculous. It might be easier and more comfortable for you to characterize things that way, but it's not reality.
  8. What you're describing is not lack of talent, but a lag in adjustments and/or development. No one who does what Julien did last year (or Sano did at times over several years) lacks strong MLB caliber talent. I have high hopes/belief that Julien will get out of his own head and readjust to the adjustments.
  9. Well that depends, are they offering something from Islay? Or are they pushing their Scoresby on us? An asset of Bonnes' caliber can't just be a salary dump, he needs to bring something back to make the team better right now. Single malt at least 12 yo. Or I'd say keep him and make a qualifying offer next offseason.
  10. FFS, Ok, just get back into the dugout. Such a choppy start with the pitch headsets, hit catcher, defensive indifference?
  11. I'm sure there were numerous arguments, kids fighting and pulling sets away from each other shouting "LEGO."
  12. I recently found a "grad bucks" token from Little Falls High School, 1997. No cash value. They can't even have that.
  13. We looked pretty darn good against a pretty big dog this last series. Without 3 of our best hitters.
  14. Julien is going to be a very good MLBer. Don't be fooled by the struggles. Even some of the greats had struggles. Hello Torii, Morneau, et al. His floor is everyday player, his ceiling is ALL-STAR. If you trade him, you better get what he's worth in return.
  15. I love me some Walner, but you have to give nice to get nice. We have plenty of guys who can play outfield for us. If Walner is what it takes to bring back significant pitching (at low cost) then I'm in the "ok, fine" category. However. I would much rather kick in some of our wonderful minor league depth to get said transaction done. We have a really nice surplus of minor league talent available. My most bestest wish is to use our minor league capitol to bring in a young, good, cost controlled started who we can make in to an ELITE, young, cost controlled starter. Cash in the chips, it's time.
  16. Paxton would be a regular season addition. To get us to the playoffs in good shape. I don't think he changes our top 3.5 playoff starters. I'd be ok with that. I'd love to be set up well when we clinch our playoff spot.
  17. If all it takes is a prospect in the 25-30 range, I'd do it in a second. One small quibble with the OP. If we do indeed protect SWR from getting run down for the rest of the regular season, hasn't he earned the right to the be our 4th starter in the playoffs? Obviously if Paddock, or in this scenario Paxton show out strong you can re-evaluate, but at this point in time SWR is my game 4 starter. He's more than earned it.
  18. You're assuming he isn't called up for good next week? Jk of course.
  19. Did I miss Jax? I have to say I'd put him in the same conversation as Duran as far as trade value. Obviously Duran has that "otherworldly" level. But body of work has them more even.
  20. Awesome article Nick. Any idea about relative strength of schedule between us and CLE?
  21. In a move that shocked and rocked all of MLB to its core, the Minnesota Twins have selected 45 year old, overweight, hasn't played baseball since little league, Joe A. Preusser in the 2024 entry draft.
  22. I was a full participant in the 2003 Twins, and thus enjoying the 2003 Tigers. I remember when they finally won their first game (13?) and they popped champagne on ESPN like they won the series, and I thought, good on them.
