  1. I've got Kirilloff coming up on Sunday, after the string of 3 lefty starters for the opponents are done. Since we have to get down to 13 pitchers, Thornburg or Cotton will be gone, unless we are done with Duffey. Barring an injury, the decision will then be between Miranda and Garlick. Without Garlick, we should be rotating Buxton so he always plays CF against lh's with Celestino in the OF as well. Garlick has one option left I believe so he would go to St. Paul to wait for the next injury to bring him back up. That is one reason the Twins are waiting IMO as they don't want to use up everyone's options.
  2. Facing 3 lefties in a row later this week. Roster changes to allow only 13 pitchers in a week. I think Kirilloff will be called up on Sunday.
  3. You are right. I thought he was just a covid replacement and got a free pass off the 40 man roster. I have no guess as to why Soto was chosen over Palacios.
  4. Sawyer Gipson-Long gets the call.... up to Wichita.
  5. Why not Beckham or Palacios? Can only be one reason. Soto will be DFA'd soon and the Twins don't dare losing the other two by trying to DFA them.
  6. Garver can't even play as a catcher this year so that trade is working out in our favor right now.
  7. Some new hitters need to step up for the minor league teams. Take Lewis away from the Saints and they go on a big losing streak. Call Steer up and move Kirilloff down and they are hitting like crazy. Take Steer away from the Wind Surge and they can't score much of anything. Time for Austin Martin to step up for them. Emmanuel Rodriguez gets hurt for the Mighty Mussels and suddenly they are having problems scoring much. One great hitter seems to make the whole lineup better.
  8. When robo umps call balls and strikes and the bases get bigger, Jeffers will be what we thought Sanchez was going to be defensively. He better get his hitting going big time by then.
  9. Whenever the Twins need a 40 man roster spot,, he will be DFA'd and see if he makes it past the other teams. That's how the 40th man is going to work. Probably good news for Cotton as he has moved up to #39. Also good news for Strotman.
  10. Gameday said "injury" and Balazovic was immediately taken out. Any update on this?
  11. Gameday has Balazovic leaving the game tonight with an injury. Poor guy keeps getting injured. If it's bad and he is done for the year, can the Twins put him on the 60 day IL and add someone else to the 40 man roster?
  12. I have: Locks: Steer, Canterino, Woods-Richardson, Varland Likely: Palacios (unless Correa stays), Headrick, Gipson-Long Borderline: Schulfer, Mooney, Camargo, Isola, Julien (can only keep so many 2B), Wallner Teams want pitching and thus I have a lot more pitchers higher on my list. Isola and Camargo would have to make the jump from AA to the pros and stay there for the entire 2023 season. Thus, I'm not sure anyone is willing to do that at the catcher position with neither one great at defense. Aren't we getting bigger bases in the pros next year and thus should see more guys stealing? Catchers throwing arms will be even more important.
  13. I think most disagree with this - I think Rocco (and I believe this is a combined Rocco and management decision) is doing the right thing by resting Correa and Buxton on a day that a man named Chi Chi is the starting pitcher. The odds were against winning with both in the lineup. They odds are less with only one of Correa and Buxton playing. So, rest both of them - maybe you lose by 10 and come back and win the next day by 1. Or maybe, as happens in baseball, you actually win the game without them. Tampa has to be demoralized to have lost this game with our starting pitcher and with our big bats on the bench. Nice job by Chi Chi today after a rough first inning, which included a swinging bunt single. He gave us a chance today.
  14. I see Pagan and Duran handling the closer role until the trade deadline. It will depend how they do and how healthy they are as to what level of closer the Twins get then.
  15. Lewis getting injured probably makes Gordon's spot secure through the rest of the season. I think he gives 100% all the time. But he is not good for a major league SS and I don't see him making the roster next year as Lewis comes back, Martin hopefully is pushing to come up and Palacios plays better SS and does play LF (but not CF). I think the 40 man will have Palacios on it if Correa leaves because of Lewis injury. If Correa should stay, Palacios will be gone and Gordon could stay until Lewis is ready.
  16. No. I see Varland as a duplicate of Sands (AA stats from Sands last year are actually slightly better than Varland's AA stats this year). They need to work one level at a time as they don't have the stuff of a Canterino, who I think could make the jump if healthy.
  17. CES - didn't realize he was quite that bad in the field at 3B. If he is going to be a DH candidate don't draft Berry this year as he sounds like a carbon copy of CES.
  18. Fear the Steer. What an ending! He is this year's Miranda. Almost want to trade Polanco for Montas and call up Steer but neither team would probably do that.
  19. Nobody screaming to Buxton on the IL now.
  20. Great games by all the teams. That's the good. The very bad is Canterino to the IL and Emmanuel Rodriguez on crutches. OUCH!
  21. Cotton back up only to be DFA'd later this month is what I think will happen. The 40 man roster could get interesting soon. Alcala will be coming back and I think the Twins will not cut ties with Sano this year. Palacios has played well enough that I now think he would get claimed. Strotman with yet another poor game last night. Makes no sense to DFA Godoy. Catchers get hurt and we will simply have to add another catcher to the 40 man when it happens. We may get to the point of DFA'ing Contreras and Strotman.
  22. Arraez left the game. Is he heading to the IL and Kirilloff being called up?
