  1. @Seth Stohs - did Olivar get injured as it looks like he was hit by a pitch and pulled from the game?
  2. Looks like Fort Myers is in 1st place in the 2nd half. I "believe" first place would mean they make the playoffs. Someone else can confirm.
  3. People have been asking about an injury update and Emma's whereabouts for over a month. Seems nobody knows what happened when on the rehab assignment. You can't be #1 when you aren't available to play.
  4. Normally you see more pitchers injured during the year than hitters. Not for the Twins this year. Unless they came into the season with past significant injuries, most of the pitchers stayed healthy. But look at our hitters and the top ones all seemed to miss significant time due to injury.
  5. IIRC, early in the season, Alcala would have bad games many times when he would come back out for a 2nd inning. He has to concur at least one of these (can't come out for a 2nd inning or can't pitch on consecutive days) as we can't make special Alcala rules that restrict him so much.
  6. Guess he just looks too good for this level. Move to the next to challenge him.
  7. "This offseason, a number of players will need to be at least considered for additions to the 40-man roster ahead of the rule 5 draft: Ricardo Olivar, Marco Raya, and Christian MacLeod are virtual locks, one of Patrick Winkel or Noah Cardenas could be added, and even Aaron Sabato, Kyler Fedko, and Rubel Cespedes are possibilities if the Twins believe they have a future with the big league club." I can't disagree with you more on this. There's no way Sabato, Fedko, Cespedes and Cardenas are added (I would have added Cardenas after his April this year but he is hitting about .150 since then). Winkel only gets added if Camargo gets subtracted and I don't see that either. Olivar is a possibility but not a virtual lock. Right now, I don't have him getting added either. Raya is the only lock. I have MacLeod getting added but others do not.
  8. @Sherry Cerny Minor correction - I think you flip-flopped the pitch counts for Alcala and Henriquez. Thanks for the writeup.
  9. Winokur - 12 homers at 19 years old in a league where it is both tough to hit and tough to hit homers. Impressive.
  10. I was wrong. Santana has been a very good signing. Henriquez and Richards, get ready. You are pitching on Saturday in relief. If we are behind, you each will pitch a lot.
  11. If MacLeod finishes strong, I've got him being added as well. LH starters are harder to find than good CF's. Headrick was added at about the same stage and the RH Tylor Wells was picked by the Orioles in the Rule 5 draft from AA. It would have to be a bad team that is simply stashing him in the pen for a year.
  12. Tigers send Baddoo down to the minors and DFA Urshela.
  13. "Umpires tendencies can vary widely" That statement alone supports robo umps or at least the challenge system. It seems to work great at AAA. It's fair to all players, and by all accounts they love it. No bias for star players, big markets, or even potential collusion with gamblers.
  14. Festa sent down according to St. Paul Saints website. Are we signing Rich Hill or what?
  15. Cory Lewis and Charlee Soto are really having great 2nd halves. Nice to see so many of our starters doing well. I wonder if Lewis will also get a call up to the Saints like Andrew Morris did.
  16. No. The Twins don't do that. The rotating of catchers each game has kept both of them healthy for an incredible two seasons now.
  17. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it has be pitcher for pitcher. Adding Matthews for Buxton would give us too many pitchers on the roster.
  18. He's trying but I think the part Falvey missed was trading a great player just as you see they are declining (whether it's too many miles on his legs, injuries piling up, age, etc.) and not wait until everyone sees the decline. Tampa does this all the time. Not many of us were wanting a Polanco trade a year plus before it happened, but there were a few. We would have got so much more at that time (but don't ask me the number of times I have said trade/cut XX player and now they are doing great - like Griffin Jax).
  19. And there is movement in our pipeline. As many of us have speculated, Morris is moving up to St. Paul. Hall and Hamilton are also moving up, to Cedar Rapids. Edit: And now Culpepper was just listed as moving up to Wichita.
  20. Did I miss Severino getting hurt? See that he only played 3 games last week and none after Aug 8 (only 4 for 25 with no extra base hits for this month so far)? Will Jair Camargo still be the #3 catcher next year for the Twins? Went 2 for 20 last week to bring his season average to .190. Olivar and Deardon got off to hot starts in their promotions to Wichita but last week wasn't so good, combining to go 2 for 26.
  21. Agreed. Also gives us a clue on what the Twins off-season plans are and aren't. It is now about the pipeline and we aren't signing any significant starting pitchers. We are seeing what are young guys have. Wonder if Andrew Morris is about to get called up to the Saints.
